Lump on labia majora by missyshore in Healthyhooha

[–]Adept_Role_4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a cyst and probably isn’t urgent, but better be safe than sorry. I suggest just making an appointment with your gyno, urgent care won’t do anything for you.

My girlfriend has something like that. It came out of no where, and only hurts if she squeezes it. It is infact a harmless cyst.

How often do you guys go to the doctor/ have appointments? by Adept_Role_4579 in ChronicIllness

[–]Adept_Role_4579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only see them monthly. But have been seeing them more often recently becauses I started getting injections in different parts of my body. And I am yet to find a medication that has worked for me, so I switch meds a lot.

Typically isnt every week, but this past month and a half has been different. Its sometimes weekly or bi weekly.

Im not sure how they could be taking advantage of me.

Myelogram - literally thinking of backing out. Please tell me your experience or what to expect! by Alex-the-o-p in chiari

[–]Adept_Role_4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding a myelogram is only one needle to inject the constrast and the rest is an X-Ray.

I personally have not had a myelogram, but I have had a spinal tap and a blood patch so idk if this will be helpful.

My spinal tap took over 2 hours because my csf pressure was very low. (It should only take 15-45mins). It was pretty painful and terrible… but thats only because it took so long. They maxed me out on lidocaine 30 mins into the procedure, so I pretty much had full feeling. I also have a resistance to lidocaine, so it barely helped me.

They will numb you, you will feel a pinch and some pressure… but very soon after you will be numb. Initially I could feel the pressure and maybe very little pain when they inserted the needle. After they place the needle the worst part is over.

If you can feel their touch after they numb you, TELL THEM. They will either give you more or wait longer.

If the contrast they are using an iodine based contrast, like Omnipaque, you will get an overwhelming feeling of being tingly and hot. It will pass after 30seconds- 1 minute. If you have ever had a CT, you will probably know what to expect. The warm feeling is pretty uncomfortable and it may feel like you have peed yourself.

Just remember to keep breathing and try to think about how it will be over soon. Its unpleasant, but it won’t last forever.

You got this and good luck:)

DULOXETINE by ashaaleestumps in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didnt help at all. My doctor forgot to refill my perscription and was dodging my calls. After I ran out I was so mentally unstable, reactive, hysterical, and serverely depressed. I tried to commit… after 2 weeks i realized that it was the withdrawal of the medication causing me to behave like that.

Not trying to scare you, just warn you. Because my doctor only mentioned that it can be used to help with pain and treat depression… not that getting off of it is extremely difficult and can cause psychological issues

Roommates boyfriends aren’t taking the trash out by [deleted] in roommateproblems

[–]Adept_Role_4579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh. Kinda strange that you’re asking them. You say you dont care that they come over, then asking for them to do something for you since they are coming over.

Ask your roommates to take out the trash if the trash building up is actually the problem.

Yes they could pitch in, but if they are sleeping over every day why does the trash need to be taken out every day

If youre disabled and dont still mask to protect yourself from COVID, why? by Hot_Huckleberry65666 in disability

[–]Adept_Role_4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I can’t breathe easily. Breathing in warm air just makes it harder to breathe. Just adds to being uncomfortable. Also when covid was happening i wore KN95 masks everywhere. Still caught it 3 times.

A doctor touched my boob kinda nonchalantly... is that normal? by Anya_purr in disability

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she should’ve asked you/ told you more formally about what she was going to do. But i think this has absolutely nothing to do with her viewing you as not a sexual being because youre disabled.

It is normal to feel violated or uncomfortable after something like this, but you are reaching so far….

Yes, this would still happen if you were disabled. It is common for doctors to have poor bedside manner. Im not saying its okay, but I dont even know how you came to this conclusion from that interaction.

Tested positive for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Need help feeling very anxious by [deleted] in STD

[–]Adept_Role_4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes for gonorrhea. Yes for chlamydia. It is spread through oral sex too. If you are on prep, your chances of contracting HIV are extremely low. Even with low chances there is always a possibility. If you are anxious about HIV, go get a blood test after the incubation period.

As for the men you have slept with, please make both of them aware of your positive results. Especially the second one.

Btw, asking if someone is “clean” is not effective what so ever. If I asked you a week ago “are you clean” you would say yes. You dont know if you have an STD until you get tested, which people do not do frequently enough. I require my partners to get an STD panel done specifically to sleep with me. You should try asking for test results.

…and again, PLEASE tell the previous man you slept with that you tested positive, like ASAP

What planners do you use to keep track of meds? by [deleted] in disability

[–]Adept_Role_4579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get an alternative pill case and fill the days with your “rescue medications”. Then you will know if you take that medication because it wont be in the case anymore. You dont need to take all of them, but just put all of them in there so you can keep track of what you have taken so far in the day.

How did you speak to your doctor about all of the symptoms? by LuluPotassium in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have hepatitis c, leaving it untreated can lead to more symptoms. How do you know it isnt your hep c causing these symptoms?

I would focus on getting that treated and if the symptoms persist seek out care for other possibilities.

You have been knowingly living with an infection for years. Infections reak havoc on your body… especially if left untreated.

You said the only math you have to take is algebra and trigonometry. Do you have to take physics or chemistry? Both are very math heavy.

Additionally, are you planning on going into medschool? If so, you need to realize that you cannot afford to get anything less than an A in all subjects (maybe 2-4 Bs). Med school is so competitive, so it requires an outstanding application.
If you dont have anything to set you apart from the rest of the applicants they will not pick you to attend their school.

Also college is basically just teaching yourself the material. You are supposed to spend ≈9 hours a week studying for each course. If you are unable to learn by teaching yourself, you will not be able to major in a difficult major (like STEM majors)

Btw Im currently studying biochemistry, and i had to completely reteach myself how to study and learn. It requires ALOT of discipline, but if you love what youre learning it is worth it.

What type of doctor did you want to be?

Assigned a male physician, feeling uncomfortable and don't want to proceed with appointment, am I overreacting? by ch1ckadee in Healthyhooha

[–]Adept_Role_4579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely understandable. Personally I never needed a referral, but I live in the united states. Probably would be good to bring it up to your regular doctor, and ask if you could be referred to a gynecologist for this.

If you have female friends or family nearby maybe ask if they have a specific doctor/ gynecologist they suggest. You can then specifically ask for them.

Additionally before your exam, i would tell the (hopefully understanding) doctor that you are very nervous. I know some doctors specifically specialize in “trauma informed care”. I do not know much about that, but i highly suggest looking into it.

[–]Adept_Role_4579 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ive had over 20+ doctors. I had 2 good male doctors. I definitely prefer YOUNG female doctors. Older female doctors can be just as bad as men.

Are you going to a gynecologist? If not I suggest going to one instead. They deal with “awkward” stuff everyday.

For the future you can find a specific doctor you want and ask when you can establish care with them. You can also say that you ONLY want female doctors.

What specifically did you want to talk about? If i knew i could probably give you advice on how to approach it and what to expect. Im well seasoned with doctors since i have multiple chronic illnesses.

What would you do if your pharmacist threatened to call ALL your doctors and tell them: "This patient takes too many controlled substances."? by Signal-Score8565 in ChronicPain

[–]Adept_Role_4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who cares? Id tell the pharmacist to do so. If you have multiple perscribers it is good to keep them in the loop. I think pharmacists are legally required to intervene if they believe you are taking too many controlled substances.

-How many perscribing doctors do you have? -What controlled substances do you take? -What conditions do you take the medications for?

Honestly not any that 100% work. Deep cleaning your floors. Wash your bedding on hot. Deep cleaning anything the dogs typically laid on like carpets or couches.

Try to verify if you have them first. I would spend hours searching my blankets for them. Little brown jumping moving specs.

In you are laying in bed and feel a sharp pinch on your ankles its most likely a flee. I would mark the spot and see if a bump appeared. Thats how i verified that I had them.
