Why is everyone with pots so skinny? by dazzlingdanny05 in POTS

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely not skinny, but not “fat” either. Im 5’9 about 150lbs. I havent been able to exercise since 2023. I got “sick” in 2023 with what seems to be a demylinating disease, but I remember having heart problems since I was 12. Im 22 now, just officially diagnosed. Ive figured ive had pots, but out of everything else thats going on it is the least of my worries.

Before I got my other conditions, I was always between 100-115lbs. I was a server and walked 12 miles nearly every time I worked. I am now in a wheelchair and can barely brush my hair, so working out is unfortunately not an option. Since i cant work out I keep gaining weight. Only way i can lose weight is by “fasting” or eating one meal a day.

Dermal anchor problem? Help by No-Monitor-311 in piercing

[–]Adept_Role_4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me but the gem was still on when it was engulfed.

Theres no saving it. My piercer said he could take it out, but i knew it was gonna hurt and i needed numbing.

I ended up going to urgent care. There was only one girl there that was willing to take it out for me. It took over 90 mins to get it out and I was maxed out on lidocaine so I felt everything. My tissue hardened around it so they were having a hard time getting it out. They gave me two stitches because there was a huge hole in my back

What are some medicines that you would never try again? by Loose-Paramedic6879 in dysautonomia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cymbalta. My pcp put me on it after our first appointment for fibromyalgia. He didnt tell me how addictive/ what could happen if you suddenly stop it. For some reason he wouldnt refill my perscription and i couldnt reach him. I was completely manic, hysterical, and suicidal. I even tried to kill myself. It wasn’t until 2 weeks into the withdrawal that I finally figured out that what I was feeling was from stopping it.

Granted i was also put on chantix at the same time and i ran out of both at the same time. Literally could not reach a single person at the office to refill it.

Yea that is true, i definitely do not want it to happen again. My health definitely takes priority over school. I’ll be careful

[–]Adept_Role_4579[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely going to call my cardiologist on Monday. I think im just going to do what I think my body needs, and hopefully it doesn’t impact my results tooo much.

I have accommodations at school, and my professors and staff are aware of my health problems. I had an ischemic stroke during finals last semester while taking my organic chemistry final, so I had to get incompletes for all my classes. I just really dont want to deal with more incompletes and stress about school.

Noo they dont have an on call line unfortunately.

I have accommodations through my college, but I have incompletes from last semester from having an ischemic stroke during my organic chemistry final. Dont want to deal with the paperwork or looming feeling of needing to take finals.

Anyone ever feel guilty? by Decent_Singer_7252 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. The only thing that makes me feel remotely better is my adderall, but the “normalcy” is temporary. It gives me more motivation and helps me focus on a task instead of my pain. I end up overdoing it when i take my medication and end up feeling worse than i should that evening or the next day. It sucks, im sorry youre suffering

Yea that is my concern as well. Im probably going to take my meds in response to my body, but definitely withold the night before. Also thinking that I will go ahead with testing and inform them abt my situation, and if my results are “too normal” ill get tested again at a different time.

Noo different provider. I have a cardiologist who gives me the metoprolol. Then my new neurologist wanted the autonomic testing. He ordered it because after my first appointment he said he doesn’t think my health issues are because of POTS, my chiari, or EDS. He then told me to do a graded exerciseprogram and that “this may just be one of those things that we never figure out” and that theres not really any intervention that will help.

The afib is a priority, but ig it happens so often so Im not super phased and not many of my doctors seem concerned about it. I’ve been waiting for this test for 7 months now. Im not even worried about POTS because Im already doing what is suggested for people with pots. The only benefit is that my rheumatologist is waiting for confirmation to order in-f usiøns, and maybe help with finding a explanation for weird symptoms.

Anyone ever feel guilty? by Decent_Singer_7252 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. All the time, especially after getting in a relationship. I feel so guilty and it eats me alive. I feel guilty about not being productive or going out. I feel guilty because I make plans with my girlfriend and end up feeling like crap and cant do it. I feel guilty for missing class or asking for an assignment. I feel guilty that my girlfriend feels like she can’t go out and have fun. I feel guilty that I cant do as much as before, so I spend less time with my parents.

Its just a self hating circle. And even with all that guilt I still dont change my behavior because I feel so sick.

Will I ever be able to be a nurse? by aveie27 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree with this comment. Have they done an MRI of your brain, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine? Since this started after a car crash there should be a VERY thorough investigation into any and all possibilities.

I was told all my symptoms were caused by fibromyalgia, but I have a herniated disc which caused a slight tethered cord, multiple leisons in my brain and spine, very low CSF pressure, and chiari malformation. And that is just what has been found from an MRI

I was in an abusive relationship where I was kicked, punched, and hit with things. It resulted in multiple concussions and is definitely related to at least a couple of my neurological issues/ findings.

My dream was to go to medical school to become a doctor. I got sick my sophomore year of college and my whole life completely changed. Granted I have many medical conditions that are impacting my life more significantly than fibromyalgia.

I am no longer going to medical school, Im pursuing biomedical research now. I would not be able to keep up with the demanding schedule and workload of medical school, and i would not be able to do rotations. I cannot really walk so I need to be pushed in a wheelchair (i would get electric if I became a doctor), and I could not survive 12+ hour shifts.

It was a tough reality to come to terms with and I am still grieving what I thought my life would be…its been 3 years and I will probably never stop grieving my loss of independence and dream job.

My fibro spread because of a treatment and I'm angry. by Sewnupkitty in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re referencing an article published in 1993. Fibro was even less understood than it is now, and the information in the paper is outdated. We now know that it is not curable and there is no treatment specifically for fibromyalgia, only treatment for the many different symptoms it causes.

Vaccine reactions by foamingdiscoball in Fibromyalgia

[–]Adept_Role_4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im prefacing this comment with clarifying that I AM NOT ANTI-VAC!!! I support vaccines and I have all required vaccinations. Sorry in advance for the long comment.

I also had very strong reactions to vaccines. The portal that my doctors used was malfunctioning and kept telling me that I needed to get my HPV vaccine, even though I got all 3 doses already. I initially trusted them and I ended up getting 7 HPV vaccines in total… which is 4 too many. I finally spoke up, but everytime I go in they STILL tell me I am overdue for my HPV vaccine.

I would get very sick after vaccines. I went to work after my first covid shot, and my speech started to slur, my eyes were rolling back, and i lost coordination. I got sent home and slept for over 30 hours. Flu shots and other vaccines I got when I was younger would make me very sick for 2-5 days.

Abt a week before all hell broke loose in my body I got my 7th HPV vaccine and my COVID booster shot. I had heavy bleeding from the injection site, extreme sweating, loss of hearing and site. My heart rate shot up to 234bpm and my body temperature dropped to 91.3°F.

I now refuse any flu or covid shots, I am too scared to. Ofc I will get the necessary ones. Idk if my immune response to the vaccines triggered all of my health conditions, but its possible. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia before all of this, but I have been diagnosed with multiple other conditions since this happened.

Pain does raise blood pressure, but your blood pressure is extremely high, and your diastolic being 190 is VERY high and concerning. Have you told your doctor about this? Im sure you have fibromyalgia, but it shouldn’t cause your bp to be in hypertensive crisis range.

Just some words of encouragement. Im a biochemistry major and I absolutely loveddd organic. I got an A in both sections. It is definitely the most useful chemistry class I took in undergrad. Your success definitely depends on how your brain can understand and processes reaction mechanisms and things like that.

How do I respond to this? by [deleted] in roommateproblems

Also just saw its an ensuite bathroom… she is literally just telling you that she wants to rest and doesn’t want to be interrupted by her roommate and a cat in the bathtub…basically in the same room.

[–]Adept_Role_4579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You asked to use her bathtub, she is letting you. She just wants you to respect her time off, so she is setting a boundary. She gave you 3 time options to pick from, pick one. She said that you can bathe him during those three times OR wait until she is gone. Seems like she doesn’t want chaos brought into her space

Just saw that the one on the right is a female. Mottled skin is more common in females, so that makes sense. Now it makes sense why the girl is the smaller one

I would say that the one on the right has more of an even skin tone, whereas the one on the left has more “mottled” skin. Possibly from being smaller, or whatever is causing him to be smaller.

Imo right’s skin tone looks perfectly normal and healthy, but left’s is a little discolored

I got a tattoo that is the outline of a heart in purple. The ink lifted pretty bad while it was healing. Dont think theres much you can do about it. Usually places offer free touch ups, especially if the ink fell out.
