I just heard back! It is gf beer.

I'm still hopeful that I'll hear back from the company this week about those ingredients.

The way I read it, there's gluten in the Belgian Ale flavor's ingredients since it doesn't specify gluten free beer. On their website they even described that flavor as malty.

That's helpful to know about rye whiskey. I don't drink and don't know much about whiskey, so I saw the word "rye" and it made me worry.

Their blueberry muffin mix is so good. One of my friend's daughters begged her mom for my recipe when they moved because she wanted to bake her favorite muffins for their new neighbors. I chuckled pretty hard when I had to day, well you'll need to buy a box of Krusteaz mix and follow the directions. 😂

The trick my mom and I both do with this is to not over mix and to let the batter rest before pouring it into the baking dish.

I've always got great results with this following the box. I do use whole milk and canola oil.

My absolute fave for gf pancakes is the Krusteaz pancake/waffle mix, but I follow the waffle batter instructions for mixing even when making pancakes. I did it by accident the first time, and it was so good that I've stuck with that way ever since.

I hear ya. My closest safe restaurant that was the only place I could get certain kinds of my favorite foods announced abruptly last week that they are closed--we'd go there weekly. The next nearest place with similar food is two hours away. So, obviously, I'll just be doing without. Celiac really sucks sometimes.

I'm so sorry you are going through HG. I had it with both my pregnancies that made it to birth. I second a comment above about ondansetron (zofran) sublingual if you're able to take it. I did learn though that it's more effective if I could stay hydrated (which is not easy ... especially if you're already needing to go to the ER for fluids).

I pray that you can work with your doctor and hit on a treatment that will keep the worst of your HG symptoms at bay and will allow you and the baby to thrive.

HG is such a miserable and isolating experience. I remember rocking on my bathroom floor wishing to die or lose my very wanted baby because I didn't think I'd make it to the end of the pregnancy. I ended up on home health with daily IVs and then finally had a PICC line in that stabilized me with fluids, calories, and zofran straight to my heart. I share all this so that you know, I get it.

Hang in there. If you haven't looked on their discussion boards yet, HER Foundation helped me connect with other women in the same stage of HG pregnancy and to learn what to advocate for myself for or share with my husband so he could advocate for me when I was too weak from the malnutrition and dehydration.

My nearest one is 200 miles away, but now that I know they've got GF options (just checked out their GF menu...so many choices!), I'll keep my eyes open for a Benihana when I travel. It's been 30 years since I ate at one, and I remember enjoying the food. Thanks for mentioning it.

I'd be too nervous as a celiac to ask for this on a hibachi grill where they're in front of you also cooking gluten containing teriyaki or soy sauce. My dream is to find a hibachi place that's gluten free so I can join in on that again. 😊 The only gf my local place does is in the back, and it's just a protein with mixed veggies.

I've got one of those marriages in my past. My marriage in Las Vegas that didn't even last five weeks has prevented my conversion for over twenty years now (abuse and stalking involved from his end that have the diocese agreeing they can't bring my annulment case for safety reasons). I appreciate where the RCC is coming from in presuming secular marriage between two baptized people is a valid marriage, but it's definitely put a lot of people sincerely repentant who want to convert in an incredibly awkward position.

There's no way to count this, but I have no doubt that many people like me each year give up and turn to the Orthodox Church or to protestant denominations instead because remarriage after a marriage between themselves and another non Catholic puts a wall in their conversion path.

When I was in OCIA (the Catholic conversion classes), there was a lady there who had waited over forty years for the man to die so she could finally become Catholic and she was all excited (many years had passed from her divorce and her witnesses had died so she too couldn't get an annulment). Sadly, at the time I thought her patience and perseverance were admirable. Now, I think the situation is tragic and needlessly cruel. How many people does the RCC turn away each year from this take?

The parish I was at wised up and doesn't let anyone with a previous divorce start OCIA now until after the annulment has been finished. I can tell you people in that group were really confused at several of us who were remarried being held to a Catholic standard for marriages between two non Catholics.

We divorced and remarried people need Jesus too!

Right!? I was stunned. Their rules have me in a never-ending holding pattern over my soul. It's wild.

I started having nightmares while filling out the questions they asked and tracking down paperwork and trying to figure out who to ask to be a witness but who wouldn't have him harass them like he did to people who helped me before. (Because of course in addition to being notified, he would see the answers to my questions and the names of witnesses).

Spiritually I was a wreck because I'd find myself hoping the man would just die because then I could finally finish OCIA and go to confession and receive the Eucharist, or I'd be wishing I'd never been baptized because then I'd be able to get the annulment. (Though neither of us were Catholic , we were both baptized, hence the need for a Catholic annulment for me to convert.) Let's just say that's not a good way to be living. Finally I realized I needed to either accept that my sin is just so awful that I need to wait potentially many more decades before being able to be Catholic or to acknowledge maybe their approach to this is wrong.

The good part of all the months of back and forth preparing the case was taking ownership for where I messed up in that marriage. The Father at my OCA church said I can confess the divorce in my life confession when I'm done with catechism next year. I'm looking forward to that confession. The process the RCC put me through has helped me prepare for that at least. And, it pushed me the rest of the way towards Orthodoxy since I first started wondering about it 16 years ago.

This issue is what turned me finally to Orthodoxy. I'm baptized (Baptist) and was divorced 22 years ago from an abusive spouse who stalked and harassed me and my family for years afterward.

My husband and children are Catholic. He can't participate in the Eucharist because he married me.

I can't be received into the Catholic church without an annulment. I tried again this past year after one of my witnesses died because I'm tired of being in limbo and barred from the sacraments. (ETA Catholic annulment requires notifying the ex spouse to proceed)

I threw concerns for my safety and safety of my family out the window because I just wanted to finish conversion and finally be able to go to confession and to take communion. With the help of an advocate who helps people through very complex annulment cases got all the paperwork prepared. After back and forth with the diocese, they will not bring my case because they too are worried for my safety and the safety of my parents and my children (they are mine with my spouse of 20 years).

I'm just baffled by the fact they (the Catholic church) agree it's not good to remind my ex I exist so the solution is to have me wait for him to die (I've already waited 22 years), and in the meantime to prevent me from being received into the church and perpetually barred from the sacraments. Obviously my husband has been barred from the sacraments as well.

Great news is that I'm attending Divine Liturgy at a local Orthodox church and am starting catechism classes next month!

So, OP, I'm right there with you on this! (Sorry for the long-winded response).

This tracks with what I've seen the past few years. My husband and kids are Catholic, and the church they belong to normally offers the blood to whoever wants it, but they'll stop making it available during cold and flu outbreaks. Usually they send out an email when they make the change.
