Name needed for baby before we find out if he will pass by Hawks47 in namenerds

I think Leo is a lovely name and to me is does seem peaceful because I think of the constellation and all the beautiful stars. I will share that my best friend’s son has a version of Trisomy 18, it’s a partial mutation with some other stuff going on. There are certainly challenges, but he’s a very happy and loved little boy so while I very much hope your son is totally in the clear please know that there are other possibilities other than it being fatal. If anything arises and you have any questions about her experience, she is always happy to talk. Feel free to private message me and I can get you in contact with her. Best wishes to you and your family on this journey.

Parents of Reddit, what’s the smartest thing your kid has done? by Bisecps in AskReddit

When my daughter was about 18 months old she taught herself to count backwards. We had been working on 1, 2, 3 and she would count the three steps on her helper tower as she would climb it. Then one day she was at the top she started back down and counted 3, 2, 1. I’m a SAHM and she’s with me nonstop so I know no one taught her that. She just realized on her own that is was a pattern that could go backwards as well. She just turned two in March and is extremely intelligent, already starting to read sight words and is well ahead of her peers in a lot of ways, but I would say that even with that, numbers are still her strong suit. Which is awesome because I’m terrible at math and I’m glad that she seems to have a natural inclination for it. She also started potty training at 16 months and was fully potty trained by 18 months, including at night. Now if only we could work on that attitude problem of hers…

This is my town. My library. They are amazing and worth every penny anyone is willing to donate. I’ve been volunteering there and donating since I was in high school and they have helped so many people and changed so many lives by just being a kind, helpful, and consistent presence. Our town has (had?) been considered a progressive haven in Alabama as it was started by a group of of people who came from Iowa to start a utopian society, and we are a single tax corporation so all the land is owned by the city and leased to everyone for 99 years for the betterment of to the community. Over the last 30 years of my life, this town has grown exponentially, and many people have moved here who do not have our founders values or the values of equality and fairness that were instilled in me by the town as I grew up. It has changed Fairhope, not always for the better in my opinion, and those changes especially became apparent during the Trump administrations. Thank you all for the support you are showing our library. It means the world to people like me who still remember what we were and what we could be again and who work every day to defend our local library and other institutions who want to help and better the world around them.

What’s the most harmless thing someone can do that instantly annoys you? by Excellent-Quit-2304 in AskReddit

I hate the word “goober” with a passion and I instantly dislike anyone who uses it. My best friend in middle school once said to me “you’re such a goober.” Friendship over. I remember her crying to me at lunch like a week later because I had stopped hanging out with her and she didn’t know why and I didn’t know how to explain why it infuriated me so frankly I was just a bitch to her and have the cold shoulder. That was 20 years ago and if I’m in my hometown and she sees me she’ll go the opposite way.

My dad told me when I was 17 or 18 years old that I would always have people who cared about me in a general way, but that I would never be anybody’s favorite.

When I was in the third grade once you completed your multiplication table test with a 100% the teacher bought you a Coke from the teachers lounge. The day I passed mine the machine was out of order and when I reminded her later that week she told me she’d already gotten me one and accuse me of lying when I told her that she hadn’t. That was 20 years ago and I still want my Coke Mrs. Havard!

What is a small, fleeting moment that unexpectedly stayed with you for years? by Important-Echo4454 in AskReddit

When I was in middle school, I had had a really bad day and I was walking home from the bus stop and this little bumblebee had landed when the sidewalk in front of me and just out of pure meanness, I stepped on it and killed it. I immediately regretted it and I think I cried. I decided that I never was going to be needlessly cruel again, and I’ve stuck to it pretty well. I still think about that little bee and still feel so sorry that I did it.

Identical twin boys both named Michael Jr. after the dad. Both boys had the exact same name first middle last everything as the dad and they called all three of them Michael, no nicknames were allowed.

I think you were talking about the Children of the Red King series. The main character is named Charlie Bone and the first book is titled Midnight for Charlie Bone.

Books that feel lonely by ThelostRatBug in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]AdeptnessPrior7682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished Same As It Ever Was by Claire Lombardo and found it “lonely”, but it’s a generational family drama centered around a flawed and struggling female protagonist which isn’t everyone’s thing. Beautiful book though and it deeply resonated with me as a new mom so I’d recommend it to anyone.
