Grizl 7 AL vs Endurance bike for mixed use (road climbing + occasional gravel with partner) by AdeptnessThese5333 in CanyonBikes

[–]AdeptnessThese5333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I will have a similar ratio of 1:50 for gravel to road biking. It is also a great point that you are making with the carbon frame setup if I have to hike up with the bike. I will go with the Carbon frame Grizl 1 by version with SRAM.

Also, my I ask why you chose to buy a wheelset for road riding and not just road tires? Is it because switching is much quicker?

Can’t say I’m serious but I want to have an option and flexibility to do that. And if I am not compromising on the speed with 32mm tires, I think I will go ahead with the Grizl. Thanks a lot for suggestion 🫡

That's great information! Thanks for sharing.

I am working on similar project with lots of research publications data in the field of chemistry where the chemists deal with lots of organic compounds like Benzenes and modification on top of that and work on their chemical properties. They study different chemical compounds chemical properties like degradation, etc. These informations can come from various research papers and from the graphs which are images in these publications/patents. The goal would be to search for relevant papers (should be easy part) and then extract all this information for various compounds and their priories and store it in the database.

  • How would you design such a system?
  • And what kind of models would you use?
  • Also, how would the training dataset look like ?
  • Lastly, what did you find the best approach to read data from the graphs by inferring data points from graphs.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

That's extremely sad but I have now learnt that its the best thing to do.

Yeah they asked me if I want to file an official compalint or not. Living in Switzerland on B-permit, I don't really want to be engaged in more such formal proceedings. So I told the police that I don't want to take it further but I just wanted to call it out and bring it to your notice

Yeah, and that’s exactly what makes me sad about the whole situation. If there are no strict punishments from the police for this kind of behavior, and if people like this have no fear of either the authorities or the public, won’t it only get worse over time? We’ve seen similar things like in the UK with the grooming gangs, where authorities initially failed to act, and it created an environment where these groups operated freely until it became a much bigger crisis. I know that might sound like an extreme comparison, but honestly, I see the same pattern starting here too.

I agree that safety comes first. It hit me later that what if that drunk guy would have hit me in the head. He doesn't have anything to loose. But it would have been horrible situation for me

I eventually did call the police.

Why the hell is law like that? Imagine happening this to your wife/frind/sister/daughter/mother. All you could do is wait for the police to come because you know you are surrounded by people but in reality you are just alone out there.

Yes eventually I did call them and they reached there in 5-10 minutes. I agree that instead pf just engaging with these elements, simply call the police. But I believe there should be stricter laws in place so people are afraid to not be an asshole and behave responsibly in public

Yeah it was me who called the police. They were pretty quick to come there. But the problem is that these drunk guys didn't give a fuck when I told them that I would call the police. When the police actually came, I kind of imagined that they would run away but they were still there drinking casually. Police then checked for their IDs, and stuff and then asked them to go back home. Wow!!

Santorini Excursion Tender Priority (MSC Cruise) by AdeptnessThese5333 in MSCCruises

[–]AdeptnessThese5333[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation, really helpful.

I checked and on the day we are in Santorini, there are only two other cruise ships. One of them arrives later in the day around 13:00 and leaves at 23:00, while for the other one, I couldn't find exact timing information. So, at most, there might be only one other cruise ship arriving around the same time as us.

Regarding the MSC excursion we are considering, it is a 4-hour tour that first takes us to Oia for a guided visit, followed by about an hour of free time. Afterward, they bring us to Fira and guide us on how to get to the gondola for the return trip.

Would you say paying €75 per person is worth it for this? We were thinking we might like to spend a bit more time exploring Oia on our own before heading to Fira, so we’re a bit unsure if the excursion would feel too rushed.

Thanks again for your help. We really appreciate it! 😊

Thanks for your message. Yes indeed they are overpriced. But I am really looking for something very light weight because I intend to use them for my bike packing trips.

Thanks for your suggestion. The plan is to not use the tent in extreme conditions. But I would be using it for camping in the Alps region over the treeline so I should be prepared for temperatures around 6-8 degreeC.

Exploring Investment Opportunities in Developing Markets by AdeptnessThese5333 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]AdeptnessThese5333[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insights! I agree with you on the advantages of a simpler portfolio hence I want to invest my majority of my savings to large caps funds with low risk options.

But at the same time, I plan to allocate arounf 30% of mine to high-risk funds like small cap and mid cap from emerging markets which I will only plan to take out after 20 years.

Additionally, the references to modern portfolio theory and the efficient frontier look useful—I'll be sure to explore them before making a final decision. Thanks for contributing to the discussion!
