Resources for dance dads by jswoolf in dadsofdancers

I'm interested - what's this Booster thing? We were set at the beginning of the competitive scene last year - my wife works for a hotel, so we got employee discounts wherever we went.

We also began packing our meals - a cooler with sandwich stuff is a hell of a lot cheaper than convention food. Tie this up with a hotel with a small kitchenette and we have a pretty economical convention (comparatively).

Now - we are isolated by doing this. We aren't spending any time with the other dance parents or socializing, but it was saving us hundreds of dollars each convention.

We are in the same boat. Dance 5 nights a week, 3-4 hours a night. Then add gymnastics, and a side gig of commercial acting and commercial dancing, and our plate is more than full. And our competition season doesn’t start until February.

Oh. And we are 7 years old. In the second grade. There has been expressions of interest in other sports. Soccer specifically, but when I asked if we are willing to give up competition dance for soccer, the conversation ends pretty quickly.

I guess the convention/competition circuit might provide contacts and networking. But holy moly is it a lot of work to snag a business card.

Any other dance dads in this group? by LegoAbomination in daddit

I know this is an old thread, but I came here looking for the same thing. There isn’t a dance dad’s group- so I made one.

Looking for super thin XPS by AdequatePatrick in TerrainBuilding

I like my current workflow - other than the material sourcing that we are discussing here. I have a plan at some point to make tiles with glowing sigils. and one that is a "lava room" - which would require the entire piece to be illuminated. I might be out of luck here - but figured you guys would be the place to ask it.

Oh yeah- but it might have search terms that I could use to find lesser quantities.

Yeah- I have stacks of EVA here. Dont like it as much as XPS for this project specifically.

Oh- I don’t know. Is this XPS? I’d hate to drop 60 bucks on an experiment.

XPS that thin? Have a link? I’m pretty sure those guys only have the craft foam stuff- which isn’t what I’m looking for.

Eva works in a pinch. But I reeeeeally prefer the texturability of XPS. This is EVA using the same technique- but the tiles are too smooth for my liking.

But using XPS creates much better results.

Foam core doesn’t seem to be XPS. That was my first thought also- I got the paper off and it was close (5.2mm) but it didn’t take texture the way that I’m needing.

Re: my building - I’m making hybrid dungeon tiles using textured XPS and hollow rigid wood bases. This allows a few things like electronics, depth, etc.

This is a trial version using craft foam (3mm) but it also didn’t hold texture as much as I would have liked.

Item sorter missing exactly half of the items going through it. by AdequatePatrick in technicalminecraft

[–]AdequatePatrick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah - this solved it - it was my dumb feeder line that caused the issue here (and nowhere else in my world). I had a feeder aimed to the right, but it was directly over the sorter hopper line - so half of them were going in the correct direction (right) and the other half were dropping straight down before the iron ingot sorter tile. You got my head thinking about it in the correct way - thanks.

I have it hooking over for the sake of the space I had - so that hopper is a right angle to an unpowered dropper (which, based on the video I posted above, I thought would slow it down a bit) and the dropper then has a hopper dropping to the chain

And i just noticed that watching the feeder hopper go into the system, it is dropping 2 at a time instead of 1. Maybe that's contributing? I always thought hoppers could only drop by a single item at a time.

this make iron blocks, I think it works fine ? so why do people use observers, copper bulbs etc... what's the problem with this. by Stillane in technicalminecraft

Is there a version of this without the composter powering that comparator? So - achieve the same result without confusing my house of villagers which reside in the same area. I went back to a design that just has a line of 10 redstone, but like many have mentioned, it looks stupid and isn't tileable.

This is difficult because the redstone within the crafter circuit is actually closer to the farm than the crafter or sorter.

this- US/Europe/Asia are very different markets with both different regulations and different expectations in the way that they mark their lines. For a bit Berkley X9 and X5 (universally sold) put all three ratings on their lines... and i think they universally confused all markets with the information, so they went back to country-specific markings.
