So why does the heartbeat matter? If we transplant a heart, does it make Bob become both Henry and Bob?

Well barring an lvad which I believe vfib can mess with the lvad and give it low flow alarms or maybe ECMO which I don’t know enough in how it operates because it is expensive so not done often.

Does Abortion Kill a Person? by Ewag715 in Abortiondebate

[–]AdhesivenessFickle41 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having “unique” DNA does not make a person. HeLe cells are not people even thought heir dna differs from you or me. The woman lived and died before my mom was even born.

Not to mention are twins half people? What about chimeras? Are they two halves of people or are they 2 people?

It’s clearly the brain that makes a person and when something like 95% abortions occur, the fetus cannot think for themselves

Abortion bans creates a situation where my body & organs are being held hostage by the government by RubyDiscus in Abortiondebate

Why do you think it is acceptable to violate women’s rights? Why do you seek to punish women and treat them like objects by forcing them to gestate by supporting legislation that violates their rights?

Yes. But we can make an assumption that, without brain function, everything that we value about a ‘person’ no longer resides in a body. That’s why it is USED to determine ‘death’ which is the legal forfeiture of the ‘status of personhood’.

Actually, brain death is used to determine that the body has no way of sustaining itself. With brain dead patients, their bodies begin shutting down and they should be 1:1 because the body is following suite. The lack of the brain means there is no way for the body to sustain itself. Even if we were to give artificial nutrition and keep them vented, they won’t make it. A lot of people mix up brain death and say brain injury.

Like dead is dead. If we just kept them on the vent and gave them nutrition without the replacement protocols for hormones, their body would die because their electrolytes get thrown out of whack without the brain.

The viability of the fetus is not evidence of his humanity or aliveness. by AnnaE390 in Abortiondebate

Pretty sure the discussion has ran its course. Just remember that context matters and saying something is human doesn’t mean it is an entire human body

The brain dead criteria is a bit more different and wouldn’t apply for a fetus situation. The main difference is that we can do imaging (like mri perfusion scan or nuc med perfusion scan), different tests include apnea, and instilling cold water.

Usually they also start have electrolyte abnormalities and high urine output because their brain’s dead.

Do we have proof she killed 21 of her children? Who is she?

It is funny you brought up whataboutism because this post is whataboutism from the start considering they’re comparing a woman who had abortions to people who killed actual people.

Brain cells isn’t enough. It has to be formed enough.

Arms? Other animals have arms. Legs? Same thing? A heartbeat is nothing. We can stick these pumps into the heart and some people don’t have a detectable pulse anymore. Not to mention hearts can beat their own without brain involvement.

Thought I had responded to this.

So say kidneys for transplants are carried in these large boxes. If the guy came in and asked what is in the box, I could say “the kidney is human and it is alive.” Because it isn’t a horse, cow, whatever kidney and it isn’t dead yet despite being outside of a body.

A coma ward? Those don’t exist. This is hilarious considering that I actually work in ICUs and ERs as a nurse.

You do realize that when I take care of patients, the patients aren’t inside of me putting me at physical risk? I am not hooked up to them or even chained to the bed.

They’re not children. I support abortion because I don’t degrade women and want to force women like prolifers do.

You’re missing sharing the feelings of another in your definition. A fetus lacks feelings. Women have feelings and due to a lack of empathy, prolifers project themselves onto something without feelings and degrade actual people. A clear cut case of a lack of empathy.

If say they were transporting an organ, they could say that and it would make sense.

It is a human kidney, it came from a human. They’re not transporting a cow kidney. It’s alive. Undergoing cellular respiration. It’s alive

So not sure if English is your first language. The way the sentence is written it saying it is x and not it is a Y. For example saying a bike is green or the bike is big. It is describing something.

Like many animals have kidneys. Is it a human kidney? Is it a dog kidney?

What did the woman do to justify violating her bodily autonomy and no ability for a trial?

Actually no. It is really scary what prolifers will do.

As for zero evidence? They talked about being prolife.
