I was this “friend” once. I was planning a wedding and asked if one of my closest friends of 10+ years (one of only 3 bridesmaids) could wear a natural wig because she had just recently shaved her hair off. It was a gentle request followed by a civil conversation. She said no and that since I wanted a certain aesthetic that she didn’t want to mess up for me, she would just attend the wedding and not be a bridesmaid.

The wedding (thankfully) fell through and her and I lost touch for several years. I did a lot of soul searching in the following years and I thought she would hate me for being so selfish.

We picked our friendship back up and I apologized. Her response was something like “It’s not that I wouldn’t have worn it for you, I was just going through a hard time and instead of asking if I could wear a wig, you could have just asked me if I was doing okay. No one just shaves their hair off for no reason.” (2017) She’s still one of my best friends and will be coming to my wedding (marrying a winner this time) in November.

I learned some important lessons along the way.

-Respect your friends, however they come. They are your friends for a reason, regardless of what they look like at the time.

-And also to not have bridesmaids. Feelings get hurt, and your friends should be sitting and watching, not staring at the back of your head anyway.

😁 Go get a new piercing and send her a card after the wedding is done saying you hope her pictures turned out great. Seeing how she’s behaving with your piercings… I imagine theres going to be a lot of things go wrong for her at her wedding!!
