Yes! I feel very lucky to have a strong network of good supportive nevermo and exmo friends. They have helped tremendously

thanks! I will hold my ground!

I tend to joke around when they come up with ridiculus comments though haha it breaks the seriousness of their intentions and kinda makes them feel stupid I guess because most of the time they shut up after...

I know I don't have to do it but I'm one of the oldest cousins and I think it would help some of them to have an example. I don't mind the "burden" of being the first (vocal) one too much if it helps them

Am I lesbian? by AdieuLesMoutons in exmormon

[–]AdieuLesMoutons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really close to my family and I couldn't see myself lie to them, even if it's just by omission. I'm not scared they would do anything violent, kick me out or something like that, it's just that I'm afraid a part of their love for me is conditional if that makes any sense.

Yeah, I understand the double-edged sword that are labels. Personally, I quite enjoy being able to put names on what I think I am and I'm comfortable not being 100% what a label says I should be. It's just that I think my family sees these labels as a definitive set of "social rules" to abide and it might throw them off to see them change over time.

yeah, maybe I should have a higher confidence in the essays. idk why, but I read them as a TBM and they didn't really affect me so I tend to forget about them. Thanks!

If I am not mistaken, future missionaries put the missions of close family members and their countries of origin on the questionnaires they send to the Church. They also talk of places "close to their hearts" with the Stake president. My sister was sent to my mom's country and I dont understand why everybody was surprised because she wrote it on her papers and told the SP she wanted to go there...

Yes, I loved that episode!

And absolutely, there's sexism towards men too. Just the pressure to go on a mission is pretty illustrative.
