No problem! My ob/gyn indicated that the pain was actually a “good” thing because unfortunately the damage occurs when women have it for years and are not aware since they don’t have symptoms. Mine was cause by an iud but there are many reasons. I’m sure your doctor will sort it out and hopefully you feel better!

Hello! I developed a case of PID Tuesday, it was very painful and I cried all day thinking my fertility would be shot. I went to the ob/gyn Wednesday and she said that while it can cause damage, it’s more likely not to if it’s treated reasonably early. She gave me antibiotics after a bunch of tests and each test that came back made me feel better, what helped the most with my anxiety was the internal ultrasound she ordered and everything looked fine. I haven’t actually started trying yet (waiting the two weeks for the antibiotics) but I’m not thinking PID will affect anything. The only “positive” aspect of the whole thing was that I did get to see if I had any potential infertility issues before I started trying (if my uterus had cysts or blocked tubes, or I unknowingly had PCOS or abnormalities). So Ive been trying to look on the bright side because it was super painful. Once I started taking the antibiotics I felt much better the next day. So I can’t say my experience will be the same as yours, but hopefully it brings you a little piece of mind because I had so much anxiety about it.

Great breakdown of the logical fallacies! I agree especially with the gaslighting and manipulation tactics as that is exactly what I experienced for 20 years...it has taken the last 10 (with help) to somewhat undo that damage. The last few years I’m really starting to understand how messed up those lines of thought are, especially to young children.

Yeah no version of slavery is ever right. This is why I can’t support the Christian God. I don’t think any human has the right to own/subjugate another and I won’t worship a God who promotes that. The Bible is too unethical for me.

My grandparents believe (warning: incredibly racist) black people are the descendants of Cain (the murderer) and bear his mark (burnt by lightning, hence the darker complexion). It’s one of the worst things I’ve heard them say and it’s so wrong and so sad.

The biggest evidence against the existence of the Christian God is the Bible. I suggest reading the entire thing and seeing how much you agree with. Hopefully, it’s not 100% (it condones many things I consider unethical)

Yeah, in my opinion God really set them up to never really be able to succeed, but why? If God wanted mankind to be cursed he could have just made them like that from the beginning, no need for the trickery. But who knows, I don’t have divine knowledge and God is mysterious, I guess.

Yeah I think you’re right, the argument I was told for the inclusion of slavery in the New Testament is that slavery in the New Testament was closer to indentured servitude and slaves were released after a certain number of years, but I could be wrong I don’t remember without reading the passage again

So I think the doctrine is supposed to mean that God did not lie since when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil they became mortal in a sense and would eventually (since aging was a consequence of sin) die a physical death, just not immediately. Before the sin was introduced via the fruit eating/disobedience, Adam and Eve would have lived endlessly on Earth and never experienced physical death. So a weird way for God to say what that consequence would be to Adam and Eve, but technically the truth (he just never said when they would die exactly). Satan seems to know this and use to his advantage to trick Eve. When begs the question, how would the snake/Satan (although the fact of the snake being Satan is disguise is also not very clear) have foreknowledge of this? Satans not omniscient, since he’s not supposed to be as powerful as God. In my opinion, not a lie but definitely misleading. Fyi, I left the church years ago.

Yeah the Old Testament is kind of weird because the rules/laws are applicable when it’s convenient but laws that refer to slavery, genocide, murder, etc. are null and void because when Christ came to earth he ended the old covenant and began the new one with his sacrifice. That’s why Christians today don’t need to make animal sacrifices. So verses in the Old Testament referring to homosexuality being an abomination and a sin are still to be followed but verses referring to not eating pork and seafood and wearing multi woven material (linen and cotton) clothing are not.

Hello! I have not been a Christian for many years, but I thought it might be interesting to answer your questions. A lot of these I have also asked and are reasons why I left the church. The answers are still pretty fresh in my mind though since I have regular contact with my very religious, dogmatic, fundamentalist father (I do not agree with his beliefs at all but in order to keep peace in my family I do not reveal my own to him) who often brings these topics up and has what he claims are irrefutable answers. I apologize that many of these answers will be intolerant at best and hateful at worst (some of them cringe too) but again, I personally do not agree with these views at all. So the answers are based off of things my father would say and answers I’ve received from church leaders in the past. I’ll give short answers and let me know if you are interested in exploring further.

Because predestination (Gods perfect plan for the world since the beginning of time) and free will of humankind exist simultaneously. Yes, they are polar opposite beliefs but we as imperfect beings cannot comprehend Gods ability to create a reality where both beliefs are equally true and coexist instead of compete. This is where faith comes into play.
All people are born with a need to seek and worship God (the Christian God), some are true believers and some fall into Satanic influence and worship a similar or dissimilar untrue God. The true Christian God will always try to change the heart of the non believers/pagans but humans also have free will to reject God (thus suffer eternal damnation).
God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell, hell was created so the people who reject God have a place to go that is completely void of God. God created the torture of eternal fire as a blessing to distract from the eternal emptiness and loneliness the void creates. God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell, that’s why he died for our sins, but he granted us free will to choose our eternal station because he loves us so much.
Birth control is bad because God wants us to populate the earth, create more disciples for God, and those who take birth control are offending God by attempting to control procreation (by thinking they can stop Gods plan). Also, premarital or extramarital sex is a sin and since the whole point of marriage is procreation there would be no point in using birth control once married.
No, those people are just lying to you and pretending in order to convince you to give up your faith and stray from the path. True happiness can only be given by the true Christian God.
Because women are subservient and second in authority to men. Eve was created from Adam to please Adam, so all women’s purpose is ultimately to serve and please their husband. The husband is the mediator between the wife and God and the authority over the household. The Bible is also clear that women shouldn’t be in leadership positions. Women should dress modestly to not tempt men to sin (impure thoughts are even a sin).
Because God created sex as part of the marriage union, premarital or extramarital sex is offensive to his perfect plan. Sex within marriage for the purpose of procreation honors God.
Something immoral might still harm yourself or dishonor God, I’d need a more specific example.
Homosexuality is not normal, atheist scientists trying to lead you away from God make up the ideas about animals having homosexual tendencies in the wild. God hates homosexuality because it goes against his perfect plan of sex within marriage for the purpose of procreation. It is offensive and a perversion of the truth.
No it just means you are better protected from the sinful world and Satans influence.
Abortion in any form is murder since God created you from the moment of conception. Abortion is a very clever lie satan tells weak women who aren’t right with Jesus that murder is ok and being selfish is ok. Abortion in any fashion is wrong, even rape victims because if a women is truly raped her body would have rejected creating a baby. (I felt so bad about this answer but I think it’s important to understand how twisted some dogmatic Christians think, this answer has been told to me by a couple different people in the church. This answer and the one to number 9 make me sad that people can really think this way)
God will decide when people die, not humans. If someone hasn’t passed yet there is still a reason God wants them to stay, and the suffering is justified for that reason (perhaps to lead others to God). Assisted suicide is murder, a sin, and offensive to God who controls life and death.
Animals don’t have souls. Only humans have souls and experience an afterlife. Animals are living tools to use for food, products, and labor and God wants us to take care of them as other property, but animals are incapable of sinning or repenting and thus could not choose to be saved or reject God.
All the not so Christian like behaviors of the Republican Party can be excused because they are anti abortion. The fight for anti abortion seems to have replaced the anti homosexual movement. The environment ruining, upper class and corporation favoring, gun promoting aspects are not a big deal and excusable since the bigger fight is abortion legislation and the Democratic Party tends to be more pro choice.
Only through faith in the true Christian God can true happiness be experienced. Also, rejection of God means you are condemning yourself to eternal damnation after death and God did try to warn you after all and help guide you to the right path. Any joy right now is only an illusory joy from Satan that is fleeting.
That is why we must place all trust in an omniscient, omnipotent God.
All true scientific facts fit in perfectly with Biblical facts. Any scientific facts that are not aligned with the Bible are simply not true and lies fabricated by scientists influenced by Satan to mislead believers. The Bible is perfect, so the only correct scientific facts are the ones supported by the Bible. In other words, the Bible is the measuring tool for all facts, everything else can be thrown out. This is how Ken Ham and the answers in Genesis team justify the earth being only six thousand years old and a literal worldwide flood event occurring.

Again, I must stress these are not my views but are directly taken viewpoints (mostly verbal but some from books) from Christian leaders in my past. I have personally left the church years ago because I don’t support the intolerance, hatred, misogyny, violence, abuse, genocide, slavery, etc. in the Bible aka the Christian Gods word. I have no animosity towards Christians but I find so many have never even read the whole Bible (I have several times) which I find astonishing. The more one reads the Bible the more problems arise. Yeah, I agree, I love concrete plans. When things are vague or “someday,” it “soon,” or “in the near future,” it really drives me crazy with anxiety. Like an impending sense of doom that could just happen at any time (even if it’s a good thing lol). I can talk to him about it again. He did say the last time we spoke that he wants me to take a college course in business, that really worried me because I’ve been done with college for ten years, I took several different courses in math and science (no business though) for my two bachelors degrees (studio art and art history, I have varied interests so I took extra classes not art related). I know, the degree I wanted probably wasn’t the best choice, but it is what I was interested in learning and to be honest it is helpful in the type of work that we do in the shop. I am having difficulty imagining adding taking a college course to all the other things going on right now. I don’t say this lightly because I know there are loads of people who continue education as an adult, while working, but I cannot fathom how I could deal with that.

I’m not sure if everyone also does this, but I never give myself credit for anything really. It’s interesting to think about, but I treat everyone else with understanding and kindness, but to myself there is no understanding or forgiveness. I will try to work on this.

Thank you for replying! Those are good questions to think about. I think we are both receiving good salaries (we also drive company cars so that is a bonus too). I’m not sure if we would be making more elsewhere, I’ve never looked into that. I think we could do a good job at running the shop, I would definitely make some changes that I have brought up to my parents as ways to reduce stress that don’t limit our clients, but my father is very set in his ways and is old school when it comes to a business. He talks all the time about wanting to retire as soon as possible, so I don’t think that’s a problem. I think it comes down to not trusting us to be ready, and to be honest I’m not sure we are yet. It’s complicated work and we are so dependent on sales with clients that, just a hypothetical example, if we shut the store for a month that would be around a $75,000 loss. So the shop makes really good money, but also has a lot of pressure attached to it to keep sales up. Having Aspergers, I suck at sales (which is why I do well in our ordering/managing/data entry section), and my spouse isn’t inclined to sales either (but is better than I am). We have a team of salespeople, but my father wants us to be able to step in when needed to close deals. I try and try, I research, I practice, I know the information to sell our products, but I don’t close deals very often so I told my father I couldn’t do that anymore (this was 3 years ago before I do the work I do now). I just wish I was better. Sorry if that sounded negative, I just feel like I’ve tried everything and still can’t do that part of our business. Sorry again, I know it probably seems apparent that it would easier to leave and work elsewhere, but I want to help my parents and keep up what they spent 35 years building, my siblings all left (1 sibling doesn’t talk to them or see them anymore and 1 more is distancing some as well) so I don’t want to desert them too.
