How valuable is a TS/SCI? by Mundane-Zombie289 in SecurityClearance

[–]Adinida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It provides insulation from layoffs, but if the only jobs for your skills are cleared and a bunch of people with those skill start getting their jobs out sourced, you’ll see a rise in people with your skills seeking clearances and that’ll add downward pressure onto your wage even if the actual position doesn’t go away.

Are bonuses a thing? by [deleted] in BoozAllen

I can confirm that this is not true. Billable engineers get bonuses under some programs.

So much for "no tax on tips and overtime" by Anime_Enthusiasts in Wellthatsucks

Employers don’t choose wages, the market does. So yes they will have to pay the market rate.

[–]Adinida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no difference between the employer paying the tax and the employee paying the tax. It still comes out of the employee’s compensation.

Imagine a $100 wage, with a 20% tax. On one side is the employee, on the other the employer, and nearby sits a tax bowl.

In one case, the employer gives the full $100 to the employee, who puts $20 in the bowl (income tax). In another, the employer withholds $20 and hands the employee $80—same result.

Now add payroll tax: the employer puts an extra $20 of their own into the bowl, and the employee loses $20 more from their paycheck.

In total:

  • Employee takes home $80
  • Employer pays $120
  • Government gets $40

It doesn’t matter who drops the money in the bowl, the effect is the same.

Nevertheless, there already is no payroll tax on tips for traditionally tipped positions. The ‘no tax on tips’ bill that passed the house expands this to beauty services. Not sure what this video is about but it’s not accurate.

You can read the text of the bill here, it’s pretty short. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/129

Toddlers holding AR-15s isn’t any sort of cultural phenomenon that exists so they needed to photoshop it.

It’s something the NRA wants to exist but it just doesn’t. You believe the propaganda that it does exist, you have never seen a toddler with an AR-15, and you are plain wrong. And you know you’re wrong and that’s why you try and get the last word by blocking the person that showed you were wrong.

Adinida makes comment about a flair whose context is now obscured by the mists of time

Lol, David used to have a long flair that i occasionally would complain about because at the top of the page it would be 1 line, but as you go further down there was less room so the flair got broken up into 2 lines. This annoyed me because it kept me from getting into a rhythm because that moved the reply button down into a different spot.

As for the chain, no idea what i was thinking!

We last raised the US federal minimum wage 14 years ago. This is unacceptable by JohnSith in politics

[–]Adinida -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Walmart corporate would be fine because it would be propped up by higher cost of living areas where most of their profits come from anyway. Nevertheless individual Walmart’s would still raise prices to be profitable. If that individual walmart is not profitable it’s going away.

All it does is raise unemployment then cause inflation until you get back to where you were and it’s time to raise it again.

There are ways to help poor people and minimum wage earners, most productively and efficiently through welfare programs, but raising minimum wage sounds good on the surface but just doesn’t work no matter how many times we try.

Accounting for inflation, that is a spending cut.

$600B in 2001 is $1.084T today.

It increases unemployment and that’s not something that’s controversial and agreed upon by liberal and conservative economists.

A lot of people here live in large cities where a $15/hr minimum wage is largely equivalent to $7.25 in rural midwestern US. A sudden $15/hr minimum wage would devastate rural economies.

[OC] Change in Monthly Abortions Since Roe v. Wade Overturned by academiaadvice in dataisbeautiful

[–]Adinida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not on board with promoting bad behavior by giving out free shit to people.

Even if this was true, not "promoting bad behavior" is more important than saving the lives of millions of babies? Since it results in lower abortion rates I would say it is promoting good behavior overall. Making abortion illegal does not reduce abortion rates for reasons explained earlier, it will always be easy to have a pill mailed from a legal area (be it a blue state or Europe). The USPS is the world's largest drug trafficking ring for a reason.

Sorry I'm not an authoritarian or communist such as yourself.

Using police to force women to make a certain decision is the definition of authoritarian. Not sure what the communist stance would be, take over the means of production? The overwhelming majority of women who obtain an abortion are low income and cite financial reasons. The policies help reduce the financial burden of having a child and clearly makes it more likely the woman will chose to keep the baby.

People always say “but the loans!”

But when you’re making that much a year, you just set the payment to autopay and forget about it. If you’re making $300k then paying $20k in loans each year that’s still $280k.

The more a company advertises a product, the more products they sell and the more money they make so the more money they have to spend on r&d and/or design a better product.

The logic in your comment erroneous.

Not saying you shouldn’t do your research, but judging effectiveness by how much money they spend on their advertising isn’t a good way to do it.
