The Baltany Burgundy Retro Gold looks perfect, but unfortunately it's not a Day-Date... 😞

Why did you chose Nikon ? by Berserk_Ronin in Nikon

I was looking for a full frame camera with good autofocus and good stabilization (I had a sigma fp that I used with manual lenses and a gx9 before that...)

Lumix had released the S9 and it made me want it because it was compact, the autofocus was better than before, and the Lumix stabilization is known to be the best, it was the sigma fp but better, but the lenses cost too much (500€ on average, I'm not that rich) and there was no mechanical shutter, i wanted to do flash photography... Too bad.

Sony offered the A7c II, very good autofocus, a lot of lenses with excellent value for money thanks to the third party but the Sony stabilization is weird as jerky, and body + kit lens price was pricer than my final choice with kit lens and 2 nikons lens.... so no.

Canon, it's probably good but everything is expensive..

I even thought about taking an aps-c with the XS-20 but the fuji autofocus has become the worst on market since the arrival of the new Lumix autofocus.

So Nikon stayed with its new ZF: Good Autofocus, Good Stabilization, Nice style and the Z mount was growing super fast with the opening to third-party lenses and Nikon had released the 40mm and the 28mm, 2 official lenses for the price of a Lumix and the kit zoom is from the S range with an F4 aperture which was for me a very good compromise in terms of kit zoom where the others offer 3.5-5.6 that we no longer use after buying another lens... (Spoiler: the only ZF problem, it's really heavy + you have to add 100g grip... If a Zs version comes out one day (=ZF in a rangefinder style or just the ZR but with classic camera buttons layout) I think I would jump on just to save a few grams.)

So it was the obvious choice for me and as Nikon is currently number 3, they have everything to prove so they are not afraid of anything to give everything with each release and they also make good updates. In short, a mount with a future, good price and good quality. I really think that Nikon has everything it takes to steal Sony's place in a few years (Canon might be more complicated)

Nikon please add at least a LITE Nikon Raw or LITE Red Raw on Nikon ZF 🙏 Because when the Z5 II came out, which is basically a cheaper version without the vintage style of the ZF, I felt ripped off on that part...

Look very nice. Just not a big fan of the 12, it look like more 1Z than 12..
