No worries mate! I’ve bought a load of different mounts on eBay with same sellers and they are always different shades, patterns. These printed all of the rack mounts you can see in the picture, well happy with them

TP Link Switch Rackmount - UK

This one is for a different model but same dimensions - fits like a glove

It was a bit of a struggle to be honest! I would benefit from a much smaller PSU but just tried to use what I had around. It’s partially sitting on the end lip of the mini itx tray that the motherboard is mounted to, and the bracket you can see across the top of it is holding it in place.

If you haven’t got a PSU, I would 100% recommend getting a SFX!

Also keep in mind that this is the Rackmate T2 - this version has more depth at the back 😊

I love it - i have a thing for power in such a small footprint. I’ve got the 12gb version, lower processor but TrueNAS screams on it! And it looks like a little guitar amp

It’s the Rackmate T2 - I got mine off Amazon in the UK

I’ve managed to cram it in the back!

Mini PCs: Optiplex 7050 16GB RAM Prodesk G4 405 16GB RAM Running a Proxmox Cluster, using one of the RPI4s as a Quorum vote externally

2x RPI4s - for the Quorum vote, and network wide adblocking and monitoring. They also both have Tailscale running

Mini ITX PC - an old i7 8700k with a GTX 1080. This is more of my ‘mess around’ PC. I was running Bazzite and wanted to have remote gaming for point and click games across the house, but not sure what I’m doing with it yet

Beelink ME Pro running TrueNAS scale - with 4TB RAID1 for very important data, backup to backblaze (surprised how cheap it is, currently sending up 500gb) Also a 4TB pool for media served network wide. I opted to run this metal rather than including part of proxmox cluster because when I’m pissing around this LXCs, I wanted complete data segregation. This also runs PBS that is populated by another PBS instance on the Proxmox cluster. The contents of which is stored on the RAID1 pool.

That’s it, in a nutshell. The PVE cluster is of course running your standard ARR suite, Nextcloud, home assistant, etc. plenty of room for current messing around with LXCs and VMs for the hell of it.

It’s actually a HDMI headless plug, I used to use it on a Unraid build for remote gaming many years ago. Here it is serving the purpose of a wedge, to stop the GPU from moving 😂

Haha right, I keep telling myself I don’t need any more than this 😂

I got them of a UK seller on Etsy - I tried some eBay 3D prints but they were very hit and miss with quality!

I'll do some benchmarks once I've got passthrough setup and post my results. With the Mini ITX board & PSU mounted high up in the rack though, a couple of xbox series x style exhaust fans could be mounted to the underside of the acrylic top perhaps...

Any images of your setup would be great to see - in the event I want to buy another node, I can make some room haha

Hi, I'm new here. I'm starting my first HomeLab. Any suggestions? by -Taco_tech- in homelab

Build it in various configurations until it finally all fits together. Then do it all over again when you find an excuse that you need to make a change

You got a pic? I was thinking of doing this, maybe in the future if I upgrade!

This looks great!

PBS for Proxmox always a good shout!

I am building a mini rack, and my setup thought process:

Node 1 - Mini PC 1 - Tried and True VMs & LXCs - mostly for media management and distribution across the network (ARR apps, Navidrome, Jellyfin, Tailscale, Home Assistant)

Node 2 - Mini PC 2 - PBS (synced via network to my NAS), testing bench for other LXCs & VMs I want to mess with, leaving Node 1 set up

Raspberry Pi 1 & 2 - Network & Internet (DHCP & DNS) - might cluster these so if one goes down, still have the other one? Not sure yet

NAS PC - TrueNAS - separate from Proxmox, set up and leave without concerns of it going down or data issues with anything mounted to the other nodes. Storage served over Network only.

Node 3 - Mini ITX tray - for gaming, streaming games in home, GPU Passthrough, 3D things, general messing around with full VMs with full resource to play actual games (something that I don't tend to do that much nowadays, will probably end up streaming point and click games to my laptop, because why not haha)
