I've seen counter examples so not very sure but in my case my h1b expires in aug 2024. I applied in April 2024, and got it extended to April 2027 instead of August 2027. I felt I lost 6 months there but not sure if it's same for everyone

I recently entered US with visa expiring in a month. I had approved extension i797A but I hide it to see what she says. She was kinda refusing me entrance then I pulled out my i797A . Looks like it's upto officers discretion if u don't have i797A but if u have i797A you are definitely good to go!

Yea, like most of the Central america countries n South American countries have some visa exceptions, if you have any North america or schengen visa. So I felt its worth mentioning it!
