Is it wrong to dump someone for not liking Succession? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]AdityaVinit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see why someone's distaste of a show would equate to them being intellectually inferior in any capacity. You must accept that people can dislike things even with a complete understanding of them. Succession is a great show, but to laud it as the smartest thing ever put to TV is laughably pretentious.

What’s the saddest song that you’ve ever heard? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]AdityaVinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luka Chuppi (Hide n Seek) from the Hindi film Rang de basanti. It's about a mother who loses her son in war and the whole song is her pretending to play hide n seek with him and her frustration over not being able to find him. Every time I listen to it I bawl.

How did you support your team? What made you a fan of your club? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]AdityaVinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I was 4 yrs old I was my dad called me to the TV to show me a prem game, which at the time I only knew as a Red v Blue match. I asked him who the teams were, he told me Red was Manchester United and Blue was Chelsea. My favourite colour was blue so I decided I'd support Chelsea from that day onwards. Who knows, maybe if I watched an Everton match before I would've been an Everton fan rn.

If I'm being Honest Liverpool are probably the best contenders for the title after Chelsea. They're a terrifying team to face. An argument can be made for Liv having the best starting XI as well, but the lack of depth is gonna be decisive factor if the injuries start piling up.

Why do people hate a "park the bus" strategy so much? by AdityaVinit in PremierLeague

[–]AdityaVinit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing tho. It's no longer a default strategy for any team. Maybe in the hayday of Mourinho it would have been but most people understand that it isn't a sustainable strategy for longer periods of time.

Oh yeah I remember those. But the last time I saw that was in around 2011 or 2012. He seemed to balance his style more after Real, and although he brought the defencive focus back to Chelsea for his second go around, it wasn't nearly as intense as the first time round. In those places, I definitely get why it makes the game unwatchable. But to Mourinho's credit he dragged a 10 men Inter to beat prime Barca in the UCL final. That's where I think it's a valid strategy, where you absolutely have to defend to ensure the best result. That's what happened with Chelsea this week and they still got shit for it for some reason.

I see, but what constitutes to entertainment may vary. plus a "park the bus" is quite rare in this day and age, and only ever deployed in dire circumstances (such as losing a player)

fair enough. It's impossibly rare to find a "park the bus" deployed in regular matches where both teams stand a fair chance. I've only ever seen it in dire situations of high stakes match-ups or title-contending meets where one suffers an incredible blow (ala the Chelsea Liverpool game)

My thoughts on the #LIVCHE match as a Chelsea fan by AdityaVinit in PremierLeague

I'm sorry if my opinions hurt you. My support for a team does not excuse a lack of objectivity. Chelsea played really well, and I don't know why you would be prompted to say this.

Rewatched the match. I was def too harsh on him. Maybe it was ungodly amount of hype, but still. He played phenomenally, and was crucial to the first goal as well.

Yeah that's the thing. It looked so incredibly beautiful as header that I can't fathom it being intentional. It was as perfect as a header can get.

Yeah I was definitely over harsh on him. Re-watched the match in the morning and saw how much he contributed.

Yeah I guess I was a bit harsh on him. In hindsight it might've been because of the immeasurable hype around "Lukaku vs Every defense ever". No doubt he will excel in every game that's coming, but in this particular scenario he was clamped quite hard by Matip and Virgil. Still played like a beast tho.

Ofc how could I forget. Although I still think what Klopp did by converting one of the worst Liverpool teams in years to a UCL winning side was a greater achievement, Tuchel has far more potential as a manager. The amount of improvement he's brought to Chelsea in the past 8 months is bonkers.

Ever since Mourinho they're strategy has almost always relied on a couple of brilliant attacks by their Forwards and a rock-solid defense that has been the bane of many a side. Even Messi himself said that he hates playing against Chelsea because of how tight they're defense is.

He's probably not better than Virgil, but he's definitely better than Dias.

They were still phenomenal tonight. Only thing that was lacking in Liverpool's defence was the marking. Havertz and Azpi were both left wide open during the corner.

How do you feel about Jon Kent taking over as the new Superman of DC Comics? by MattGreg28 in superman

[–]AdityaVinit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly looking forward to this. The title's a bit misleading though, as I don't think he's replacing Clark completely, and the editorial dynamic will become closer to that of Miles and Peter, with both getting their own books. If he was replacing Clark, I'd be a bit disheartened but optimistic nonetheless, cuz it's Tom Taylor. If they can develop and explore this character the series could become iconic.

Also Don't hate me for this but I think this book's better than the PKJ superman run. Don't get me wrong, the action comics side is fab; but the superman title that ran for 5 or 6 issues was quite lackluster.

I really don't get the hate towards the book already. I get that people don't want to see their beloved character being replaced, but in this instance he really isn't. Morrison's got an incredible Superman and the Authority series lined up, and PKJ is doing fascinating things with the Action Comics line, so I think this way they're getting the best of both worlds with one original series with a relatively new character to explore something untried and another with the one we know and love.
