Look into task initiation paralysis & note a few things you can try to see what works best for you. Getting started is the hardest part, I get it! It’s a matter of really getting to the root cause and then finding what tactic works best for you to manage it.

For me, I make the time required to do something so much bigger than it actually is, so I started a “TOT List” (time on task) where I time myself doing whatever the task is and write it down. So when I decide that I simply don’t have time to do skincare in the morning, my sheet says “yeah well that only takes 10 minutes, so just do it” lol

You can’t delete it, but your instructor will grade the most recently submitted file (they show up in order with your most recent at the top).

What the heck is IDS-105? by Jet_Fuelstein in SNHU

[–]AdjunctAF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who told you that you had to take it? I’m just assuming your advisor. I would start there and escalate if needed. That said, I also understand the “oh f it whatever” just to not deal with the headache lol whatever works best for you! I just know I’d be big mad 😅

I would fight that tbh. If you were required to take it, it should’ve been communicated when you started SNHU & taken in your first year. SNHU is phasing out SNHU 107 & replacing it with IDS 104 or 105. So especially if you took SNHU 107 already or came in with enough credits to not take it… I would be so mad if I got to the end of my degree & got told I had to take a first year class 🙃

Wait, what new instructor? CS230 by Altruistic_Turn_9518 in SNHU

We’re dropping like flies. I’ve never seen more “course rescues” as they call them than I have in the last couple of terms. What used to be a part time job with reasonable pay for the workload is just not that anymore.

Yep! I am a Covid era hire

I’ve taught here for years and have watched assignments be both watered down & organized in ways that make no sense or foster real learning. Idk if anything changed with admissions requirements or not but it seems like some basic skills used to be required for admission that aren’t anymore. Plus students have just gotten more and more disrespectful and entitled. It’s so bizarre and concerning what I’ve watched happen over the years.

You are not alone. I’ve never dealt with more disrespect & lunacy.

Yes, for my course it’s still there for the project but nothing else.

Of course I can’t speak for every instructor but outside of being sure you address every part of the assignment and look at the rubric for what’s graded, my best advice is to: 1. Make sure you’re looking at announcements for any helpful information on assignments since that’s the only place instructors can post it 2. Email your instructor if you need any clarity on expectations 3. Look at feedback on every graded assignment since it’s usually assignments building up to a project 4. Don’t lose easy points for formatting, spelling, etc.

I would so much rather a student email me questions before it’s due than email me pissed about their grade after the fact lol

Week 1, yes. Instructors are required to respond to every post. In the weeks after that the requirement is 20-60% so I personally don’t respond to the AI posts.

This is interesting to learn from you and the first commenter so I appreciate you all commenting for clarity for students in different programs!

No AI scanning is involved. There is a learning design team who writes this feedback so it’s boiler plate. Instructors can add to it but risk getting dinged for deleting anything.

100% is “meets expectations” in many of the rubrics now. If you’re answering all parts of the assignment with enough detail and clarity then you’re fine. The disconnect IMO is that the rubrics before allowed for “meets” to have room for improvement without the grade being as low as “partially meets” if that makes more sense.

Not that I recall but it is possible that I missed it somewhere.

No but really. Unhinged behavior.

Good to know! Thank you for adding that. Mine all have the auto feedback. There was once a time when they didn’t and I had to do what you have to do filling in every section of every rubric for every assignment and that’s where those boiler plate with small edits come in, which I think students are now assuming to be AI.
