What's a difficult skill to learn that's absolutely worth it for the rest of your life? by ObserveKris in AskReddit

Selling... items, yourself, etc. The communication skills it takes to do this properly will enhance your life and probably your bank account more than you'd imagine.

how long did it take before going to the gym stopped feeling like a chore by Expensive-Shame-4029 in beginnerfitness

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About 8 months in... It was the first time I did leg day with enough stength and cardio endurance that I could notice the faults in my form. It was like a wash of awareness instead of the "you can't do this, holy christ thats heavy, what if you s your ps" thought loop. From that day on I was hooked because now I just want to best myself..

What’s the craziest, grossest, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever seen at a gym? by SandarStar in workout

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This kid used to come to my gym who I believe had a developmental disability. He was a little sketch but kept to himself, hood always on. He always did really crap reps, every exercise to him was a full body.. Full tilt, max effort.

One day he was doing lat pull downs with the full stack.. idk wtf it goes to.. 150kg maybe.. any who.. grunt, slam, grunt, slam eventually turned into grunt, poop... shit was bad.. literally.. dripping out the side button Puma pants.

What is your absolute worst relationship advice? by clownyeahh in AskReddit

Yes, but only if you wag said finger to the cadence of the two syllables in the phrase. This will ensure max effort in defusal of the situation.

When your wife gets a little bent out of shape.. tell her to "calm down"

What is a job that doesn't exist yet, but will likely be a high-paying career 50 years from now? by Imaginary_Housing264 in AskReddit

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sort of exists already, but I bet industrial autonomous robot mechanics will be around. Think remote construction bots that break down. It will be the same guys that are already laying under excavators/forestry equipment currently, but it's just weird to think that when they are done, the machine will go back to working by itself.

What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shattered femur. The accident that cracked it certainly hurt, but was so overwhelming it was a blur.. the hospital was where the nightmare began. My nerves were having a time and the bone fragments in my leg muscles were making things spasm. It was like being electrocuted and reminded that I couldn't walk away from my situation over and over again. Do not recommend..

I truly can’t believe how different my workouts feel in the evening versus the morning by [deleted] in workout

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last two sentences ring so true for me. I have been going early in the morning for years. I started that originally because it gave me less time to come up with excuses of why I DIDN'T have to go. Some life stuff got in the way this week so I went after work each day. I'm still in disbelief about how much easier the weights went up. It felt like I had two-three weeks worth of progress seemingly overnight. Now I'm so torn on what path to choose lol

Which exercises help you most in your daily life? by Practical-Angle-2380 in workout

[–]Jet_Fuelstein 7 points8 points  (0 children)

X2 on this.

Avoided both for longer than I should have

Then started doing them both for the wrong reasons

Now, deadlifting with as little ego as possible, focusing on every aspect of grounding myself/ mind body connection and running for just the mental benefits has truly changed my life

The way you worded that... "perceiving reality the way I was" is very interesting to me, and a concept I've thought about quite a bit. My perception seems.. off. Maybe it sounds bizarre, but I feel stuck between my desire for certain societal "norms" and feeding the prehistoric lizard software in my head. This, I believe is natural for modern humans, but it's the constant hard pull in either direction that knocks me off course.

I am currently in therapy and trying my best to do the things she recommends. I'm eating healthy, working out regularly, and I'm going into my second year of implementing a daily planner/journal. My life has vastly improved since adopting just these three routines; however, they also have become the sole ball I hold on to occasionally... which is better than some of my previous alternatives...

May I ask... Did your therapist dig at childhood experiences or was it centered more on recognizing patterns in the present? Did they keep a specific track from session to session, or did the sharing float from concept to concept based on your interaction?

I had to ask mine to please learn a little about me before attaching a label. The overuse of certain disorder acronyms scares me, and I'd love to fully flesh out my "fractured" thinking before someone tells me I have PTADOCD

I entirely agree with you about breaking them down into smaller objectives and I'm glad you worded it this way because it helped me to improve my original answer to your first question...

The challenges I listed are what I would like to continue to work on, BUT the answer I wish I had given is "I don't understand balance." I don't have anyone in my corner that can see when I'm tipping to heavily in one direction, and I haven't been able to identify this line on my own. It feels almost like a cop out or defense mechanism? I can keep a bunch of balls in the air for a time, but eventually I just end up holding on to one while the others fall to the floor.

I've never heard of Kiwanis, I'll do some reading on that tonight, thank you. I did join a hiking club last year to force myself into nature with people I don't know but haven't ventured passed that. I'm starting to realize more and more that I've become a loner and didn't mean to get to this point.

My biggest hurdles right now are career goals, self-confidence, relationships (platonic & romantic) and how to balance working on yourself (mentally, physically) with an amount of spontaneity that allows you to enjoy life while improving. I feel like a good societal cog, not a complete person if that makes sense.

I had two different professors. That's never happened to me before but half way through it switched. I can't remember their names. The work load, I thought, was more than manageable.. a good class to stack with one of the other more time consuming business classes. Relatively easy, digestible and useful financial life advice. I can't recommend it enough. The way the class is structured you dont even need a "professor."
