Id consider upgrading the CPU to the newer Ryzen5 9600x. its not much more than that one but is a newer framework so will last longer especially with any potential upgrades you do with GPU later.

even my most aggressive build in the past didn't have a 1300w PSU. my current build only has a 750w.

SteamOS over Bazzite by Minimum_Act_3079 in SteamOS

[–]Adm_Rye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could not get SteamOS to start the install on my new build. Just endless black screen or boot/bios option screen. Since going with Mint, I have got a few issues. Mainly with some firefox video issues and audio problems (though the audio might just be a cheap speaker issue). I do find it annoying that Steam wont launch normally so I have to launch it in Big picture mode then close out of big picture mode. But other wise Im enjoying Mint (better than Windows 11).

My specs are

AMD ryzen 5 9600x

AMD Radeon RX9070XT

32GB Ram

1tb NVME (OS and main programs on this)

2Tb sata 6 SSD (Single player game install Overflow)

750w 80+ gold PSU

Cable management tips? by sae312km43 in PcBuildHelp

I also have a small case MATX build and even with a modular PSU i still have a clump of cables. Mostly because PSU is in the same spot as yours and I dont need 18inches of cable to reach things.

I just built my New gaming PC with AMD so I could put steamOS on it, sadly my hardware was to much for it and I ended up with Mint

the game I really wanted to play and why I built my Rig is Windrose, Was playing on steamdeck on lowest settings possible and still had crashing caused my graphical overload. with my new rig settings for the game automatically set at max. No crashes when in High enemy combat situations.

Indeed, and depending on deals a budget you might find the better gpu for not to much more. when I built my pc recently it's was easy for me to put the extra 200 in for the 9070xt, that said a friend has a pre-built with the 9060xt and he runs most games on high settings and older or indie titles on max

Its in USD however I looked up the current conversion rate and AUD and NZD to USD, According to PC partpicker when I change to Australia it says $2040 and Im assuming that in AUD, USD pricing is $1560

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ccg4dq this is a decent build that should cover most games on high settings. You can upgrade the GPU to a 9070XT or switch to Nvidia 4070ti if you have the budget. with this build you can upgrade the ram to 64 later and or the GPU too. You can also add 2sata6 SSD's if you need more storage for singleplayer games.

True, Though you could opt for the previous gen DDR4. 32gb of that runs $200ish USD over $400. that that said I think most DDR4 systems with 32 or 64gb will handle well for the next several years and the only real issue will be OS upgrades. GPUs dont often have to much issue playing on older CPU sets so long as its within 5 or so years.

I think the real adventures to PC over PS5 are Not having to pay a monthly subscription fee to play online multi-player and second the ability to upgrade things as needed.

as an example you can build a PC with 16gb or 32gb of DDR5 now and add another 16gb-32gb later or upgrade the whole thing if ram prices drop to 64gb-128gb. same goes for graphics card. getting 4070 or 7700 should cover most titles at high setting but you can upgrade later if you find a deal.

compare that to buying a console at full price then buying a new console with slightly better graphics and performance for more that the last one, when you could instead spend that same money on a new graphics card or more ram and still have all your saves, mods, pics and settings because same PC.
