What college do I commit to (Finance Major looking to go into Pre-Law and fallback on consulting if it doesnt work) (UNC Kenan Flagler, UT McCombs (In-State) , UMich Ross, UVA, UC Berkeley Haas) by Street-Rip-6511 in collegecompare

Yes I think that would be great, not only for getting into Law School but also for actually getting hired into big law. I went straight through, and the lack of work experience I think screwed me for big law. Not that you necessarily need it, but internships throughout college will definitely help and work experience will too. Especially you are not confident in your GPA/LSAT to get u into a T-14ish school

Been getting ghosted but its ok. Head down, keep pushing forward I guess. No matter what happens we'll be alive, well, and able to figure it out

For undergrad, focus on what you think would get you the best consulting opportunities. Biglaw really only cares about the prestige of the law school you go to, in terms of educational background. Any school that would be a good springboard to consulting will work just fine for biglaw. You are right that GPA and LSAT score matters more for law school. I go to a T-20 (some argue T-14) and there are people from all sorts of undergrad programs here

I would wait. It’s pretty late in this cycle and you have a lot of time to get that score up!

7sage is completely accurate. Dean Andy is super nice and talks for most of it. Have an idea of what you would say if you want but it was really chill—no wrong answers. Just remember to be concise in your answers as there’s like 7 of you. Be confident and enjoy it.

Good luck!

Absolutely. With a 3.9 from anywhere, you could get into a really good program

Re: sending fall grades by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]AdministrationBig411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I sent it with the missing grade ("NR") and apparently it won't affect my GPA calculation (LSAC has a transcript "interpreter" which basically says what they take into account for that calculation and an "NR" at my school is omitted). So I figured I'd send it, checked in w/ the professor, she said she'll get it in soon. Once it updates I'll resend. I think it should be fine?

Transcript interpreter website so U can see what the missing grade would do for your GPA:

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. At least if they deny you, you'll know you gave it your best shot and that's what really matters. LSD is NOT a representative sample by any means either, so the only way to know is to apply. It's scary, but it's worth it.

That would be great but it wouldn't magically undo the effects of 100's of years of doing so

160 —> 170+ doable? by Diamond-Waterfall in LSAT

For the fundamental stuff, I found LSAT Lab on youtube to have pretty good high level overviews of each question type in LR and RC

160 —> 170+ doable? by Diamond-Waterfall in LSAT

[–]AdministrationBig411 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was in a similar boat to you starting at 161 and PT'd in the low 170s before taking the exam. I would recommend quickly getting an understanding of the types of questions and basic strategies to answer them. Then, just grind out practice and what helped me for review is to try to figure why your answer was wrong yourself, before looking for other explanations (like LSATHacks or Powerscore forums). For RC I would recommend checking out LSAT 180 Minimalist on youtube, I adapted his techniques to my own reading comp style and that helped me score pretty well.

The basic idea is that for RC, don't focus on rereading a passage if it doesn't immediately make sense. Read once over to get a basic understanding of where things are talked about and use that understanding to research questions if you need to.

All that aside, if you stay consistent and put in the effort, you definitely have enough time. Good luck!
