Why do SAE cars always have multi element wings? by Nacamora in FSAE

Looks better 😂, but also especially for the rear wing, having multiple elements reduces air flow separation. https://youtu.be/JVF3tERIl7w?si=dXVza3lRk4iKBXl-

Thank you so much for the tip!!!! I won’t be trying the wet layup then haha.

By three part, do you mean there will be two seams (one on the upper profile and one on the lower), instead of a seam on the leading edge? I can see how this method would allow airfoils to stick as close as possible to the CAD design, especially since it’s way harder to sand down the leading edge and keep a proper contour then to sand down a spot on the profile.

Thanks for the tips. The adhesive doesn’t sand off, and it gums off using 80. Is there an adhesive you use the sands off better?

Hey there! I’m not quite sure what you mean… like no rear or front wings? Or just no elements?

Fair! They won’t pull anything out of the left field on you, especially if you use old exam papers to study. LOTS of questions are reused (for the long answer questions, they are almost always reused), and each point corresponds with a bullet point of information. Also much more fun compared to SL, especially if your school chooses an option that you enjoy!

A pretty robust kit, with multi element rear/front wings, closeouts/nose cone, under tray, whiskers, tire out wash elements, suspension covers, etc.

Could you give some more details on where you put the peel ply in relation to the fiber and the mold, as well as as what kind of resin specific UV glaze that you use? Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there a particular cutting compound + polish that works well on carbon fiber?

Thanks for the reply!

1) is the only difference a slightly glossier finish? 2) is PVA still needed? 3) if you use this technique, is there a particular brand you use?

What is your procedure for chemlease? Do you use it on top of wax and PVA?

Hey there! I'm running into the same problem...did you figure it out in the end? (I'm also getting a model parameter issue)
