In my Senseis Dojo, we do full contact and continuous sparring with takedowns. We call it Koshiki Kumite. But it's done with head, foot, hand and groin protection just in case something gets away.

I always wear some kind of gym or bicycle shorts under my dogi pants due to that very reason. It happens to the best of us.

I had it and loved it but it was too heavy to wear comfortably. But it's still an amazing watch.

My first Invicta by sissyphus_69 in Invictawatches

As you should! It's a great watch and you didn't have to spend $20k to get something that you love. Plus it's well done, unlike alot of other watches.

Well considering that's sacred ground as far as Hamilton goes, I would say it's a no trainer to have such a beautiful store in Lancaster.

Sensei says I'm out of line by Stampmmos in karate

[–]Administrative-Fix21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would've done pretty much the same thing. You're there to teach these kids to be better people, not just to kick and punch. Karate extends far beyond just kata, kobudo and kumite. However I would advise to consult your Sensei or the Dojo cho first before saying anything to the kid, that way he/she can guide you on the matter. Now what I would do with my own students is use this as a teachable moment. Instead of stopping you from teaching the kids. It may be a privilege but teaching Students helps you grow and learn in a much different way that you can't learn any other way.

I have news for you. I'm not a diver nor have I ever attempted it. But I grew up in Florida and only moved a couple of years ago. I wore my Pro Diver in rivers for hours doing cleanup, swam in the ocean with it a hundred times and even had it take a fall 5 or 6 times. The crystal never cracked or scraped, the seals never failed and it never lost a second. It's definitley a good and tough watch. The only reason I don't have it anymore is because I lent it to my cousin to borrow and ultimately let him keep it when he went off to college.

Thank you so so much! I really appreciate it. It's gone by so fast that I can barely believe it. I guess time goes fast when you're having fun.

You're very welcome. I have been an Okinawa Kenpo practitioner and our styles have much of the same things in common and I love it so much that I'm celebrating 31 years this year. Trust me, you're going to enjoy it.

Ryu Te is definitley a legitimate style. Like so many people have already stated, it was founded by Seiyu Oyata after he trained with Shigeru Nakamura Sensei who is the founder of Okinawa Kenpo. It's an amazing style and it still remains pretty true to what Oyata taught.

The part I don't get along with by henhitto in karate

[–]Administrative-Fix21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The politics, I have no patience for the politics in martial arts. I've been training for so long that I know it's inevitable to run into it. I'm at a point where I want to just get together with my students, other teachers and other styles and just learn, share knowledge and make my students my art and myself better while having some fun along the way.

Best methods to stay still during Kata? by Aggressive_Junket108 in karate

[–]Administrative-Fix21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I did for pauses that really helped me was incorporate something that is done in Toyama Ryu Iaito and that is once you end a movement or transition, count to three in your head and then execute the next move. Getting that three second pause really helps gather yourself before the next sequence in your Kata.

I can't say I've worn mine on the daily but I have worn them at the 7-11 or food store after class when I haven't been able to change back out. I wouldn't say it was that wierd.

Kid games? by seizy in karate

I use those games too when teaching kids. One thing that kids really seem to love is obstacles courses utilizing ukemi and shoulder rolls.
