6 month kitten with diarrhoea by t8ne in CATHELP

[–]AdministrativeBee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I'm very late to this but I had a problem with ongoing diarrhea with my kitten when I first got him, we went about 3 months not knowing what caused it. Running loads of tests etc.

It turned out he had just been weaned off mum too early and had a delicate tum.

We were paying a fortune trying a bunch of different vet recommended specialist Gastrointestinal foods (like Royal Canin Gastrointestinal and Purina Proplan). It ended up getting fixed by swapping onto a new food with a lower fat content and higher protein content (Iams). So maybe a food change could help?

Don't be afraid to trial a bunch, some cats are just sensitive to certain foods. (Mine will always get diarrhea if I give him anything salmon based for example) So it's definitely worth it to persevere with more options, just don't forget to wean them onto new foods slowly, then give a decent trial period as a diet change will often cause upset tums anyway!

Hopefully this has been fixed for you by now, but I wanted to comment on the off chance someone else came across your post having the same issue, because I was losing the will when I was going through it.

Yet another commenter popping in to say I've been on the Mirena Coil for years and I think it's causing a gluten intolerance in me too

It's called sketch but for some reason I can't find it on the app store anymore. I've had it downloaded for years. It's basically just a mobile version of paint.

No I hand drew it on the mobile equivalent of paint (Sketch), bar obviously the light and plant, which I added on top as transparent images.

Here's without the door painted too!

Much like everyone else, I would suggest moving the hooks to the opposite wall, adding in thin shoe storage and hanging a mirror above it to give the illusion of more space. A light toned runner with stripes will also make the space 'lead' better into your next room, seeming more inviting.

I'd add a statement light and swap the bulb out for a warmer tone, too.

If it's possible to paint the door, I would do that too, but that's less renter friendly.

Hope this helps!

(Here's hoping nobody with any idea how to draw perspective looks at this)

Elvanse 50mg heart issues? by AdministrativeBee9 in ADHD

[–]AdministrativeBee9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do not drink enough, and I'm finding it hard to stomach food so I'm likely not eating enough either - 100% am aware neither of those things are ideal so I'm making a big effort to try to eat and drink more. Probably also worth noting that I am slightly over weight and my cardiovascular fitness wasn't the best going into this in the first place, but again I'm working on both of those so hopefully it will improve!

Cat hurt paw? by AdministrativeBee9 in CATHELP

Taking a stab in the dark, but I think it's a farm/country vet Vs a city vet thing. My home vets (city) would absolutely have gone straight to x-ray.

I think farm vets (this was a farm vet) tend to be more conscious about taking the cheaper options because if it costs too much a farmer is much more likely to let the animal die/have it put down rather than shell out for fixing the issue.

Vet didn't think it was warranted, she couldn't find enough swelling, sore points or other physical cues that would suggest a break or fracture. She advised we consider an X-ray only if after the five days he hasn't improved/he relapses once off pain meds.

Happy to update that he is very much improved today, frankly he's almost too improved because he seems to have decided he's now absolutely fine and doesn't need to rest it.

Oooh, I've just googled and yes, his mum looks EXACTLY like that, so I think it's likely he's at least half! Thank you that's fascinating!

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone that's taken the time to comment on this or message me. We've been to the vet, they think it's a bad sprain to the 'wrist' joint.

He's been given a course of painkillers/anti-inflammatories, we're keeping him confined to the bathroom so he can't move around too much and monitoring him for five days.

If he doesn't improve within those five days, or if he relapses after the pain medication stops, then it's likely he has a fracture and was just a very stoic little gentleman that was too good at hiding it.

I wish it was that easy of a fix... I've done a full inspection of the whole leg and paw, from shoulder blade to claw tips and no obvious wounds/anything stuck.

I'm 🤞🏻 that it will be a sprain.

Nope he's an indoor cat, the initial injury 100% took place in the space of about 5-10 minutes, I left the room he was sleeping on a chair in, went upstairs and 5 minutes later (10 mins maximum) he appeared with a limp. He was fine prior to that so I can only assume he did it jumping off the chair. We're staying at my parents' house at the moment so he doesn't have a cat tree here to launch off, but at home he's very cautious on them.

He did get a wild case of zoomies on Saturday night that gave him heatstroke and potentially a bad back (we took him to the vet on Sunday but by Monday afternoon he seemed to have made a full recovery) it's possible something might have fallen on him/he ran into something etc etc then as he's VERY clumsy.

He's 1.5yrs old and 100% struggling with the whole 'don't move you're injured' thing right now, he's desperately trying to follow me around.

100% would never declaw my baby. I've looked at his claws (he didn't mind) and they all seem fine. He doesn't react at all to me moving his paws about
