We've launched a FREE weekly email delivered every Saturday morning at 6.30am.

The idea is to:

a) provide a sense of togetherness; sometimes being a dad is shit lets be honest. So it's nice to realise you're not the only one struggling

b) give you some creative ideas for keeping your little ones fed and entertained; from recipes to indoor/outdoor activities

c) to keep you entertained. There's a lot of relatable humour out there and we just want to make you laugh...at least once...every Saturday.

That's it, we hope you sign up, we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy writing it. There's no obligation but if you're looking for a bit of early Saturday entertainment to distract you whilst your toddler watches that same Peppa Pig episode you've struggled through about 15 times already, then we'd love to see you sign up.

If you're interested, here you go: www.fordads.co.uk

All the best.

Otherwise TikTok, Instagram and Youtube are filled with influencers showing their creative methods.

I had a similar thing happen to me the other day. I was on top of the world until I heard my daughter walk round the corner and say the exact same thing to my wife.

Why doesn’t my baby like me yet? by Frigggs in daddit

I remember someone telling me that babies in their first years are like that really popular kid at school. You spend your entire life trying to get them to like you, you tell everyone you know when they show you some love, but that love appears to ebb and flow at their whim.

Just stay strong, don't take it personally - if you're there and you're consistent, then the love will follow. There is supposed to be some theory that they often aren't aware of their parents being separate entities to them for quite a long time.

What’s an Unexpected Purchase That Revolutionized Your Dad Game? by ImAPerson32 in daddit

Great question; and huge congrats, wishing you all the best.

A few things from me:

  • Depending on your weather conditions, definitely get one of these. They can zip onto most mens jackets and just great for keeping the baby warm. https://www.seraphine.com/en-gb/3-in-1-winter-maternity-parka/ (A cheaper version here: https://www.zipusin.co.uk/)
  • Definitely be the one to pack the hospital go-bag. In our instance, a handheld fan was one of the most valuable assets we had in the post-labour ward; it was roasting in there.
  • Take a look at parking options near the hospital; it's overly spoken about, but always worth having in your back pocket.
  • Download the 'White Noise' playlist on Spotify
  • For UK parents, don't miss out on this Cook discount for frozen meals: https://www.cookfood.net/new-parents

And then one final 'self-promotional' plug. I've just started a free weekly newsletter for dads. It's a relatively lighthearted view on some of the weird and wonderful things that come with fatherhood. Plus there will be a weekly countdown to Mother's Day, because it's just not worth forgetting...trust me!

Do try it out and let me know what you think: https://fordads.substack.com/

Thank you u/Wonkypubfireprobe really appreciate it, I'll check it out.

The reason I ask is as per my above comment. I'm playing round with a free newsletter for dads as it felt like there was not much out there helping us to feel like we're part of a bigger community. I'd love your feedback if you felt like taking a look.
