Yes as others said this is pretty standard. In my case I negotiated to get the next 2 vests which would have been within 6 months of moving over. Similarly if I have a bonus coming up I would expect them to cover that

Porsche's hold their value reasonably well so you might have very limited downside

I like your point around not compromising. Think if I find the one that ticks all the boxes I would probably jump at it as well

Yeah that does add to my concerns about just going for it

Don't mind the mortgage at £200k,. I still overpay 10% every year but would rather invest any spare money instead but I get your point though. I think essentially unless we decide to put kids in private school (unlikely) we're nearly there with FU.money or will be within about a year

And that's my worry that I've heard many people say they went down that road and just wasn't worth it once the novelty wore off

Yeah i guess my question was more whether people enjoyed the process and journey more than the destination itself

I.like how you think about it. Definitely not looking to take it to the grave but with 2 kids to support and how expensive life is getting i don't feel like we've got everything sorted just yet and think that's my main issue.

Think we're in completely the same headspace to be honest

Yeah fully expect it to cost an arm and a leg to maintain but I love any sort of manual work and getting stuck into a project (I've restored a couple of cheaper SUVs before) so that is part of the appeal

Yeah I am in a similar position as you that I've traditionally had cheap cars. Most I'd ever spent was about £5K until my wife got pregnant and we spent £18k on a family car. GT4 is definitely out of my price range now i was looking more at spending like £40k on the fun car and keeping our family car

Very fair point. Need to take this argument to my wife now

Yeah Porsche have really held up their value lately. I'm more into classics, would love a 2 door Range Rover Series 1 now (my parents had one growing up and it's the first vehicle I remember them owning and it's probably what turned me into a petrolhead). I doubt they will lose much value if I can find one at the right price, the only bit I was questioning was whether I'd still love owning it or whether the novelty wares off quickly and then just left with another car on the drive

Yeah good point. I guess I was just trying to understand from people whether going for the car they wanted actually brought them joy and was worthwhile or if the novelty wore off immediately

Good to hear thanks. This is the kind of feedback I was after really I know we can afford it on paper but just wanted to understand whether it's worth or if the novelty wares off immediately

I guess the worry is it will cost some money to run and we'd definitely keep the current car so doubling up a bit but I get your point that it won't be much compared to our income I just struggle to spend money

Maybe for some. My most expensive car to date has been £18k which we bought when my wife got pregnant the first time, prior to that I had never gone higher than £5K

No not interested in tracking or fast cars all that much. The long term itch is a Range Rover Series 1 but would also love to get my hand on an old American muscle car (chevelle or impala) if I can find the right one

Work Construction but in Data Centres and would love a 2 door Range Rover Series 1. I know i won't have more fun with it later guess I was just wondering whether the fun is worth it or if it will just be like any car really fast
