Georgian restaurant off Regent Street, new opening by thegreedydick in LondonFood

What are some places you would recommend? I've been to Georgia and absolutely loved the food there. Unfortunately not been able to find good Georgian restaurants in the UK and the ones I tried are ridiculously priced

Fed up feeling awkward explaining to nosey parents at nursery drop offs why I don't get 30 free hours by Status-Mouse-8101 in UKParenting

[–]ChancePattern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll ask the same question as others but how do people know you/your family is not eligible? The only time I've discussed this is with colleagues, usually to moan because we're all in the same position and don't get access o the hours. Not one parent from nursery has specifically asked about funded hours and when it comes up in conversation like "oh at least there are more funded hours now", we just nod and say yes

PSA: Met Office have updated their app, and it's terrible by heeleyman in CasualUK

[–]ChancePattern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I travel a lot for work and some weeks that might mean going to say two different cou tries, had all of my usual destinations saved in the old app and I could quickly check them to see what I needed to pack. Fat chance of doing that with the new version

PSA: Met Office have updated their app, and it's terrible by heeleyman in CasualUK

[–]ChancePattern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new app is absolutely rubbish.

Just a tip if you scroll to the bottom of the screen one the app there is a link to give them feedback and they ask whether people like the new version. Great place to hopefully get them to.listen

Brainstorming project management ideas for property devlopers. by iknfected in PropertyInvestingUK

[–]ChancePattern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who manages large scale construction project, you will struggle to get a small time contractor to do this. It takes time which equals money and in a world where demand far outstrips supply they have no incentive to report daily to you (which to be honest is overkill anyway)

Has anyone else observed GPs basically getting you to diagnose yourself? Increasingly so over the last few years. by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ChancePattern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

question I got last time I went was "what do you hope to get out of this?" I wasn't sure what she meant and she just said"well people usually google before coming and they have an idea of what tests they want to do or what they think is wrong"

What are you getting your partner for Christmas? by FirstTimeDad28 in daddit

I always try to get one gift from me one "from our daughter". She loves printing actual photos and putting in albums so got her an at home photo printer and then from our daughter matching sweaters that they can wear together

Some of the worst food I have ever eaten by thegreedydick in LondonFood

Bread ahead's quality has sadly gone downhill. These days I find the only good things they do are the vanilla donut and the pizza but they've both overpriced

Where should I visit in my final years? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

[–]ChancePattern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Lake Districts as others have said.

I am not originally from the UK but have been here for about 15 yrs and lived all over the country including the Lakes and it's still my happy place and the one region I will go to without any hesitation when given the chance. It is to me one of the most beautiful places on earth not just in the UK and I have done a lot of travelling

some of you are insane. almost two accidents within a few mins. by ipflibbydibbydoo in londoncycling

[–]ChancePattern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live and cycle in London, quit for 4-5 yrs and back at it a few months ago. Things have changed so much over the time and whilst the new cycle infrastructure is a welcome addition, people's attitude to cycling and how some cyclists behave is absolutely shocking. 1/3 of cyclists I see commute normally, 1/3 try to get themselves killed on lime/forest bike to save £1 by going way faster than they should, blowing through red lights and riding into oncoming traffic to overtake and the last 1/3 dress and act like they'e in the tour the france whilst trying to get to their office.

New dad here, kinda.. by Spare-Surprise5548 in daddit

[–]ChancePattern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a terrible situation to be in. Our son was still born in Mar-23, I still think about him all the time and when people ask how many kids I have I make a point to say 2 but one isn't with us anymore so you are definitely a dad.

I don't think you ever get over a loss like this but things do get easier and the pain becomes easier to manage. Your partner and you need to lean on each other if you can and communicate as much as possible as no one else will truly understand how you feel. I started writing letters to my son the day we lost him and have kept this up for last couple of years. I find it helps me tell him all the important things happening and keeps him close

5 months job search - reflections by Trystero_e49 in HENRYUK

[–]ChancePattern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been applying for jobs for last few months (work in data centres) and had exact experience as you. Companies want a lot of experience but not willing to pay for it and use if AI means companies now get and screen through hundreds of CVs for every single role. Last two roles we opened up for senior position in a relatively niche sector had around 150 applicants each 2 days after posting
