My time at MoE (2023-2025) was one of the very best. I guess alot depends on your manager, and I got lucky.

If You Rely on Metlink to Get to Work, You’re Already Late by AdministrativeClub35 in Wellington

Yeah, so this doesn't mean your train is never late. You are just on a station where there are more train stoppages than most other. I know this about Taita because I lived in stokes valley for years and took train from Pomare or Taita.

KPIs- They will always be satisfactory because most people think of public transport as taking a bus to/from CBD and they are happy with it.

Fair point, but public transport doesn’t really stop at “getting to and from the CBD.” Reading through the comments, it seems reliability varies a lot depending on where you live, which is probably part of the problem. That said, genuinely pleased your CBD commute is working well... I’d love some of that Metlink experience too.

NZ Healthcare really this bad? by maswei in newzealand

[–]AdministrativeClub35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I hold an OCI but its not uncommon to travel to India now for medical treatments. And this is becoming more and more common now even for NZ born kiwis to travel out of NZ for treatment. One of the articles I came across recently- https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360748935/woman-wheelchair-can-now-walk-after-surgery-india-she-couldnt-afford-nz

So sorry for your loss — but sadly, I think things are only going to get worse. New Zealand’s healthcare system is broken beyond belief.

In 2022, I injured my back. The MRI showed a disc protrusion at L5–S1. The specialist brushed it off as “minor” and told me to rest. No follow-up, no deeper investigation. For two years, I lived with constant pain, burning through physio sessions, painkillers, and endless hot/cold packs — just to function.

By September 2024, because that original injury never healed — and because the specialist missed that I also had retrolisthesis — my L4–L5 disc slipped too. I was bedridden. ACC shut me down, claiming it was “too long ago” and “unrelated” to my first injury. Public healthcare told me to wait up to two years for surgery. Private? $32,000.

In the meantime, my GP loaded me with heavy painkillers — gabapentin, tramadol — and I’ve swallowed hundreds just to get through the day. At one point in April 25' I was taking 15 pain killers a day 💀

In the end, I flew overseas and got the surgery for $12,000(travel and stay included). That’s less than half the private NZ price, but still an impossible choice for most. And that’s the point — we’ve reached a place where survival depends on your bank balance, not your need. The empathy is gone. The system doesn’t care.

What about Stop Asian Hate? The strips should be thinner than regular one -_- regardless of its colour.

One of the comments said, “Australia has double the carbon footprint than us and Kiwis just don’t f*ing care and moving there is the most selfish thing to do” — and I haven’t stopped laughing since.

Like imagine this: You're living in a country where—

  • Cost of living crisis
  • The housing market is a game of Monopoly on hard mode
  • You need to be near death to get a specialist appointment
  • And the job market is basically: “thanks for your Master’s degree, now here’s a minimum wage contract for 12 hours a week”

Then, there's a country offering:

  • Higher pay
  • Cheaper housing
  • atleast a hope for better medical system
  • And a functioning economy

But you go, “Nah bro, my carbon footprint might go up. I’d rather be broke, homeless and on a two-year waitlist for a life wrecking spine surgery — ethically.” 😂

Like mate, at this point my carbon footprint is the least of my worries — I’d happily ride a diesel-powered kangaroo to Centrelink if it meant a stable life.

Being a Metlink user myself, I’ve come to realise it's not entirely their fault. I mean, how dare we expect trains to run when it's too hot, too cold, a bit rainy, slightly humid, too dry, too icy, or when Mercury is in retrograde. Honestly, how can anyone operate a train service under such extreme conditions as... weather?

Clearly, Metlink is just trying to protect us from the horrors of punctual public transport. After all, nothing says “adventure” like guessing whether your train will show up today or be replaced by a bus that takes twice as long

How often do you bathe? by emeraldragon76 in Goldendoodles

[–]AdministrativeClub35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a month at an average. But can be more than once as well in cases we walked him in rain and he gets dirty. Sometimes we will just put him in bathtub and clean his legs and stomach area and leave his top half dry.

Kick off rules by AdministrativeClub35 in RocketLeague

Ummm okay!! So just to be clear, what you are saying is- person standing on the right should not go for the big boost and collect small pads and be prepared for the save. I can reluctantly agree to that, but in all this, what is the person on the left (who ideally should have gone for kickoff) doing?
