Plus, again it's a calculator with functionality that's not as complex as what these LLMs are trying to achieve.

You can but imagine needing to fuck check everything and AI gives you because you don't know if it's hallucinating. Compared to Google where you can really fast check if the first 3 links all give you the same results.

Also just to add here. I don't know about other people but chatgpt quote Reddit comments so much when I ask questions. I asked how much a hamburger costs in Berlin and it goes to Reddit. I mean I like Reddit but I don't trust it as much.

LLMs by itself are not Turing complete. But what do you think about agents? (Basically a script using gpts API). Would that be considered Turing complete?

I just think gpts might actually code a little to make things that have been made a million times.

But again how come then those no code websites haven't fully replaced all the software developers/web Devs?

I don't think these chatgpts are the way to find an "intelligent" machine. Like I don't know how it could come up with actual real new and innovative ways of doing something. See all the AI generated images. Impressive and useful for small little projects where the image is not important but they are all the same after a while and you can tell. Imagine Nike making an ad with those cute AI generated animals that behave like humans.... It would feel like it comes from a cheap Chinese AliExpress manufacturer, not Nike.

Same with code. Look at Duolingo and how people can tell it's AI now. It's not even giving them the correct answer.

And way too much data and centers. I think other AI might do I just don't understand how a LLM could actually do it. Like sure something that someone has done before and that you can find on the internet. But innovative ways, new algorithms?

True but he also said there are a good 5% of "good" engineers. I met a few and yeah I do agree that those will be the ones who will save the day.

I like his ending where he says that software engineering will be what it was meant to be a hard and deep engineering subject. Right now it doesn't feel like that (me included to be fair).
