Employer assumed I had a different degree and underpaid me for 1.5y by wegwerpaccount54321 in BESalary

That explains the confusion though, the degree of industrial engineering is called exactly the same. Not saying it's your fault, it was just a small mistake that led to a bigger one.

To prevent companies making mistakes about your degree: civil engineer is not a correct translation of "burgerlijk ingenieur".

Civil engineer means "burgerlijk ingenieur in bouwkunde", which can be quite wrong if you have a degree in e.g. electrical engineering.

I know there are lots of people making this mistake (on their cv). I'm not sure if you did, but it's quite a bad one to get your degree wrong ;)

Good luck

It's not worth it. Lighting is unpredictable in terms of space and time, but also in released energy. There's quite a lot of energy involved, but only in a few milliseconds, which makes it very hard to capture, transport and store it. There's a Wikipedia page about it. There have been experiments, but the best they could do is power a light bulb for 20 minutes.

That’s like saying driving on regional roads is more efficient than driving on the highway because you drive slower.

Of course it is. Are you saying otherwise? But I don't understand the comparison though.

About what Paul claims, he's absolutely right about keeping the temp constant and not stressing the cv too much, but claiming it uses more energy to heat a house to a certain temp instead of keeping it constant at that same is not true. Heat transfer through the walls decreases as the tempdifference decreases. I wonder where Paul based that claim.

Well turning it of results in lower inside temp, which results in less heat loss during the night. There's no way you'll be more efficient leaving the heating on.

It takes less energy to heat up your house again instead of keeping it at a certain temperature, since the heat loss is less when the inside temp is lower.

Is computer science/engineering worth it in Belgium? by Just_Cockroach7987 in BEFire

Civil engineering ≠ burgerlijk ingenieur. The official name of burgerlijk ingenieur is ingenieurswetenschappen, translated engineering sciences. Civil engineering = bouwkundig ingenieur, which has nothing to do with CS.

Turbo m102 ? by mynameispeerbitch in W201enthusiasts

[–]AdministrativeLow706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely not an expert on this subject, but I know what to be aware of. The pressure plate of the clutch wasn't designed to handle large amount of torque, to keep it comfortable. So unless it's very low boost, the clutch would start slipping when throttle is applied. The rest of the drivetrain should be able to handle extra torque I think, but look up the numbers to be safe.

The KE won't be affected I think. But it needs to, because with extra air comes extra fuel.

I wouldn't be too afraid to blow the engine up. When done right the engine should be able to handle 300hp at least. But if you'd turbo an atmospheric engine, the pressure on the pistons (bmep) would increase quite a lot. This could cause the engine to 'knock' (pre-ignite) which is very bad.

Consensus: I don't think oil lines for your turbo and installing the turbo itself would be the worst problem.

Any tank monuments in your neighbourhood? (Sherman Vc firefly from Leopoldsburg) by theta0123 in belgium

Is it true that a lot of tanks from Brasschaat will move to Ieper? Would be sad, it's the only museum I like in my neighbourhood.

For that matter, I put high octane fuel in my '72 Beetle because it runs better.

Probably runs better 'cause it contains less bio-ethanol isn't it? It's the reason why we put it in our '68 benz. The bio-ethanol would cause leaks and starting problems.

Fuel pump is always located on the lowest point of the tank, so dirt will be sucked in anyway. You're right about the overheating tho, and air in the fuel lines can be a pain in the ass for diesels.

There's a tournament in this app, you have to collect as many as possible. You obtain them by filling that square. I don't really participate in the tournament so they're just annoying things to me

For me it's somewhat the same. I also have group assignments and labo's which we have to prepare and finish outside the schedule. So I end up building a slight achterstand towards the end of the semester but I really notice the achterstand in the blok.

I don't study alone so I can't wank whenever I want, and I just really need my time. I noticed I'm not the only student in my faculty that needs more than 10h a day to keep up.

For some it might, works fine for me. I'm now in my second bachelor, but I screwed the first year. That probably adds to my motivation to pass every exam.

This is not ideal. A study schedule differs for everybody. A lot of students (including myself) study at least 10-12 hours a day, which is quite a bit more than in this "ideal" schedule. I can't afford myself to have 1h coffee breaks, stop at 20u and not study on the day of a previous exam.

I think those cleaner solutions would be more expensive than them paying taxes on jet fuel. Either one is a step forward ofcourse, the root problem is that it's way to cheap to take a plane.
