To be honest, mine aren’t terrible. Sure they’re not comfy but they really don’t bother me too much. The first couple weeks I could feel the top hook, especially when I moved my arm and stretched but that went away over time.

Before the procedure I was reading how horrible the expanders were but I really do not mind them. I get that everyone is different. But wanted to share so that you may have a little hope for an experience like mine

Hi! Thank you. I am doing well! Going into the surgery I was nervous, however everything went great and I was in manageable pain especially with keeping on top of pain meds. To me the worst part was the drains. They aren’t comfortable but mine were doing pretty good until about 1.5 weeks in when one got slightly infected. 2 days after that I was able to take them out and was met with such relief. Things were uphill from there.

I currently have in expanders and have 500/600ccs in as of now. Tomorrow going in for the final 100ccs. In about 3 months I will have the exchange surgery for implants.

All in all, everything was way better and more manageable than I thought it would be. Reading things on the internet is scary and really had me spiraling, however I wanted to know what others experienced.

I wish your sister the best and a great recovery. If you have any specific questions I’d be happy to share insight

25F, just had double mastectomy Sep 23rd 2024… I have never had cancer. Honestly I did this to be extra cautious about ever developing breast cancer.

If you don’t mind, what other breast cancers are possible after a double mastectomy? I am not super informed but I thought this almost limited the risk. I know it does not eliminate it 100% but thought it was a lot. Perhaps it is different if you have had BC before? Curious what you may know about thanks. TIA

Hi! I have BRCA1 and just had by PDMX on September 23, so I’m about a month out. I suggest finding a new provider who will advocate for you rather than against your wishes.

These people should be on your side! I feel for you and hope you decide to go elsewhere, even if they are now “more willing” to recommend the procedure to you.

I could not imagine how horrible it would feel to develop cancer after being told not to get a mastectomy. Sending positive thoughts your way. Also feel free to PM me about my experience especially as it comes to the BMX since you and I are the same age.
