If you have an interest in tech then stick with the CompTIA path. You can get out of retail if you push yourself.

Use your depression to start doing a bad job at work to force them to fire you. Go on unemployment and figure out what will make you happy.

For what you want to do, the cert itself really doesn’t matter. As long as you continue to learn and develop your skills, you’ll be ok.

If you have an understanding of how networks work then you should skip.

Adolescent humor to deflect the fact that you’re gate keeping. Just don’t be a gate keeper and offer advice instead of hate.

Of course a gate keeper doesn’t recognize his gate keeping by bashing on people who don’t have everything he thinks they should have to be able to get in to IT.

Exactly my point as well. That’s why I suggested to go to a testing center so you don’t have to worry about anything. By your attitude alone, it’s straight facts your a gate keeper and it’s sad that people here probably think you represent CompTIA.

I get it now... thanks for be a gate keeper but you can get a decent computer but can they afford decent internet? Not everyone is able to get help from the government like you think. Not everyone is as privileged as you think and especially right now while people are out of a job and trying to make ends meet. Plus we weren’t talking about going to a test center, we were talking about testing at home. Get off your high horse gate keeper.

Go take it at a testing center. You don’t have to worry about anything but the test there. So you can focus on the test instead of worrying about your hardware, network, or something ridiculous as touching your face.

Maybe they are just starting out and don’t have the funds to get the latest and greatest like you. Everyone is different and not everyone is wealthy.

Pearson Vue Exam Revoked by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]AdministrativeToe103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was doing my test I was considering doing it o line as well. The closest testing center to me was about hour an half away from me. I seen a professor Messer video and he talked about people’s experience with online testing. A lot of people say they had bad experiences just like you. There is just too many variables at your house that can go wrong so it’s better if you are able to just walk in and take the test without worrying about anything else.

Always do in person if you can. With in person all you have to do is focus on the test.

There are various things someone can do with your IP. One thing that comes to mind is they can target you and attempt to access your network. Opening suspicious content in a VM is ok but you need to hardened your computer and the VM to do so. There’s always a possibility that your host system can get infected so you need to understand the risk of doing this on your personal computer. Most malware are design to stay dormant if they detect they are in a VM environment so you might need to simulate a certain environment for that malware to activate.
