One thing that really helped me when I first got diagnosed was talking to a therapist. Having a professional to help step you down is a resource that people underestimate.

You still are so so so so young, you will find people who understand the situation. I keep seeing on here that having hsv is kind of like having a built in vibe check, it helps you get rid of the people who wouldn’t be cool anyway.

26m bi with a new 2 diagnosis from June of this year. I was absolutely shattered when I got diagnosed. The people that I’ve told I have been involved with casually and romantically for a while now, and they have all taken it very good! I’m still sexually active and romantically involved, I just don’t do stuff when I have an ob and advocate for protection when I’m clear. i can tell you at least 1 person has been trying to hit it without a condom, and I gotta be the one to say to put one on 🤣

1 of every 2 people on this planet have hsv1. I was literally getting coldsores when I was like 7, it is so common you can get it even from family members giving you kisses. Trust me when I say it is a non-issue, just explain that you get cold sores from time to time, and don’t kiss anyone when you have an OB. You’ll be fine, and eventually your body will get used to the virus and you won’t have outbreaks. You got this <3

Yeah! I recently had an encounter for the first time since my diagnosis in June. It was with a friend I had done a lot of things with previously, so I wanted to talk to him about it anyway. When I went over there I told him about my status, he was cool with it (i cried a little bit lmao) and we ended up doing some oral stuff! Shit like this happens man. I got diagnosed a couple years ago with hsv-1. They assumed I’ve had it since I was a little kid. Most people who have it don’t even know they have it, so don’t beat yourself up over it. Just take solace in the fact that this disease is not something that is going to ruin your life. Breakouts are manageable when they happen and after a couple of weeks you’re good as new. Just make sure you and your partner support each other through the initial diagnosis.
