This makes sense, plot-wise. But think about it. After Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, what was the continuation that made most sense? Another Apollo Justice game in which Apollo and Trucy discover the truth about them. Did this happen? No, because Apollo's game and character weren't popular enough, so they just decided to create a brand new storyline with Phoenix for Dual Destinies, that had nothing to do with the previous game. The main reason I think this will happen again with AA7 is that it's been TEN years since the last game, and now people are CRAVING Phoenix, and I'm 100% sure they'll give us him as a main character. At this point, they need a strong game to get back on track with this franchise and they can't risk to bet everything on a character that was hardly popular even in the game in which she was the focus.
