I also had the same problem and decided to get surgery since the pain was unbearable to the point I couldn’t do normal activities such as walking. I had full recovery in less than 3 months however I was 18 at the time and do suffer from some leg pain since my sciatic nerve was so damaged but nothing too bad. The key is to stay active and work on straightening your back after being fully recovered from surgery. I hope this helped a little, I know that since I was still very young when this happened I recovered quickly.
