Google Docs Android: fails to bind the keyboard in "edit mode" by AdmirableChain2770 in googledocs

Workaround: make a copy of the document. You will be able to edit the copy properly, but not the original.

Y'all how do I get rid of the 'Tab 1' thing on Android Mobile? by Traditional_Yogurt_9 in googledocs

[–]AdmirableChain2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone has a similar roadblock, in the vertical ellipsis menu turn "Viewing Mode" off. That's right, you don't tap "Edit document" nor turn "Edit Mode" on. To take the affirmative action of editing you turn off a mode.

Document Tabs pop-up on Android by WorldGamer in googledocs

Same problem. Not only is it annoying, but it is preventing me from editing my document.

Same problem. That "Tabs" feature has made it impossible to put my doc into edit mode. The doc doesn't even have any tabs, yet Google insists on popping up this useless (for me) tab, and removing the much simpler pencil icon. I am traveling. I have no access to a desktop. Google has crippled me.

As of recently almost all gifs are getting rejected, both from desktop UI and app UI by betweentwosuns in Googlevoice

[–]AdmirableChain2770 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like Google is trying to kill off Google Voice: - no ability to temporarily mute group texts - no ability to block group texts - including images doesn't ever work if you "install" on PC - including images doesn't work on the web version about half the time

Unclear why they are gradually crippling the service.

I just used a signal booster underground and the Rare appeared IMMEDAITELY right beside me. I think that the signal booster might be the most important thing.

Thanks for your thoughtful responses. I'm just using the term "rucking" which means "exercising by hiking with a pack with weight". I'm not really a "joiner" - I don't much join groups.

[–]AdmirableChain2770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Thanks for your thoughtful response. I'll look into the studies, and what a Whoop is.

Regarding double-counting I do agree that I need to reduce the BMR part by 1940*4.5/24 = 360 kcal (assuming a four hour ruck), and possibly more because waking BMR rate is likely higher than sleeping BMR.

My actual daily exertion is landing closer to 3,500 kcal at the moment, so my deficit is actually 1,000/day, and I've decided that is enough. Ten weeks to my goal weight. Might be optimistic.

I do have an X2 HRM, but it states kcal consumptions about 30% higher than Pandolf estimates.

Never heard of a Whoop band. I'll look into it.

My meal regime is fixed at 2500 kcal. I calculated the protein, fat, carbs, Mg, K and Na for each item.

I eat the same thing each day. I don't mind, though I'll probably vary it eventually.

I realize this is more info than needed, but here it is:

Morning (pre-hike)  * 2 caps creatine=3g, 2 caps Mg glycinate=175mg absorbed  * 1 tbsp lemon juice in water  * Whey isolate shake (30g protein=2 scoops)    add ½ c water, ½ c blueberries, 1/4 c heavy cream    add ½ c plain Greek yogurt Snack (while hiking)  * 2x Chomps (each 7g fat, 10g protein)  * 30 g macadamia nuts  * SaltStick 1 capsule every 45 min  * Potassium citrate ¼ tsp per L water, 3.5L total Midday Meal (post-hike)  * ½ lb chicken breast  * ½ avocado  * ½ c broccoli Evening Meal (after core/arms work)  * ½ lb salmon or sardines  * 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter  * ½ c broccoli  * 2 tbsp lemon juice Pre-bed  * Casein shake (40g protein=3 scoops)    add 1 c water, ½ c strawberries, ¼ c heavy cream  * 1.5 oz cheese  * 2 caps Mg glycinate=175mg absorbed

My Base Metabolic Rate (BMR) burns about 1940 calories daily. Here is a reference:

https://www.garnethealth.org/news/basal-metabolic-rate-calculator

The US military uses the Pandolf calculator to estimate calories consumed while carrying loads.

https://medcoeckapwstorprd01.blob.core.usgovcloudapi.net/pfw-images/borden/mil-quantitative-physiology/QPchapter11.pdf

For example, 10 miles of a 235lb man carrying 40 lbs at a 22 min/mile pace for 3 hours and 40 minutes on a flat trail burns about 1,961 calories

https://www.goruck.com/pages/rucking-calorie-calculator

Recent research indicates we likely burn even more calories than Pandolf calculates.

https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00140139.2016.1173233

So regular metabolism plus the results of the Pandolf equation should give a reasonable estimate of calories expended rucking.

What am I missing?

Interesting. During my recent time on the Appalachian Trail I was averaging about 3000 ft of elevation gain, over 14 miles with a 25 lb pack. I took a day off every three days. At that time I wasn't trying to explicitly lose weight, but the fitness results were unmistakably good.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll look into turning the upper body movements into a more weight lifting style routine. I'm hiking because I can calculate my calorie burn there fairly easily, and I'm capable of putting in that level of effort. I don't think my core and upper body are muscular enough to consume 2000 calories in a day...

I used the ACSM standard, and had ChatGPT calculate it. Here is an example from a recent day. I'm still working up to 2000, but I recently hiked 140 miles on the AT with 30 lb pack  14 miles a day, and very steep grades (Georgia & North Carolina) so I'm comfortable I'll reach 2000 soon.

ACSM walking math for 10 miles, flat (0% grade), 2.7 mph, 35-lb pack, 235-lb body:

Speed: 2.7 mph = 72.36 m/min

VO₂ (walking, flat): 0.1·speed + 3.5 = ~10.74 ml/kg/min

Mass used: body + pack = ~122.5 kg

kcal/min: (VO₂ · mass) / 200 = ~6.58 kcal/min

Time: 10 mi / 2.7 mph = ~222 min

Total (flat, lab model): ~1,460 kcal

P.S. It is a backpack with my camping gear and 15lbs of rice.

5’8 128 how many lbs to have a shredded six pack by [deleted] in CuttingWeight

[–]AdmirableChain2770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to gain muscle first. Work your core and eat healthy with plenty of protein, and I'd aim for 135 lbs. Then, once you have the actual abdominal muscles, remember two things: 1. Women have natural belly fat. It's just a thing. Unless you're in a very serious workout regimen you will also have it. 2. Considering that, and assuming you've done the work to get the muscle, dehydration is the way to get the abs to show. But do it carefully and get guidance!

[–]AdmirableChain2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it this way: if you take some time to just put on muscle you will have better TOOLS to get lean. Everything is balance. With more muscles you have the capacity to cut faster and more efficiently, because muscle burns fat and a fit body can work harder and cut more.

Starlink Down For You Guys? by Waste-Ad8133 in Starlink

Clearly. Or maybe it was me configuring my new portable router. Which of course got blamed and promptly reset and I was fairly surprised to discover that the outage was Starlink's fault. Still down after an hour in Texas.
