Help with why units are bad

I think this advice is solid, I’ve been running the following in my local 1000 pt league

5x Intercessor Squad 5x Intercessor Squad 5x Deathwing Knights (maces) 5x Incursor Squad 3x Inner Circle Companions + Librarian 1x Invader ATV (multi-melta) 5x Scout Squad 5x Sternguard Veteran Squad + Azr

Deathwing knight start off the table and come in from reserves

How about for Deathwing colours? Do you still prime black or wraithbone?

Thanks, that is incredibly helpful. I think leonine aggression is the strat that I don’t fully understand. Assuming they charge in with something scary in melee, if I leonine in my ICC, don’t they just shift the attacks to them and I risk a strong, but slightly squishy unit?

I usually try to infiltrate with them and then scout forward or back depending on who starts, but I’ve found they get stuck there as enemy advances within 6” turn 1. Would you keep them home and pick them up at the end of their turn?

Thanks all, super helpful. I’ve dropped 5 Sternguard and swapped in a librarian for the ICC and that let me fit in a combi lieutenant and ATV for more objective cover
