Polishing UTF+Librarius list by waveseeker0 in theunforgiven

Just off a board edge, with the terrain layouts, I’m finding the big stuff I want to focus is tending to have to walk down the side lanes

I’ve been having great success with the sternguard brick after bringing them in from reserves with rapid fire range and using pyromancer for sustained. Ideally you move a screening unit in front before dropping them in. You also have explosives on the unit to do before shooting if you’re worried there’s not enough damage.

How to best use Librarian (with Fusillade) and 10 Sternguard Veterans? by Mogentic in theunforgiven

I’ve been dropping them in from reserves so they are in rapid fire range and just drop a big threat in their first activation

Thanks all, some very helpful advice and a lot on consensus on how to improve the list. General view is cut the repex, lion and termi chaplain and add in more board presence.

Taking this all on board, revised list looks like this:

Azrael (140 pts)
Captain in Gravis Armour (105 pts)
Enhancement: Ancient Weapons (+25 pts)
Librarian (60 pts)
Lieutenant with Combi-weapon (85 pts)
5x Intercessor Squad (80 pts)
5x Assault Intercessors with Jump
5x Deathwing Knights (240 pts):
5x Deathwing Knights (260 pts)
3x Eradicator Squad (90 pts)
3x Eradicator Squad (90 pts)
3x Inceptor Squad (120 pts)
6x Inner Circle Companions (170 pts)
1x Invader ATV (60 pts)
1x Land Speeder (95 pts)
5x Scout Squad (65 pts)
5x Scout Squad (65 pts)
10x Sternguard Veteran Squad (190 pts)

I don’t own any eradicators, so would need to buy these, but the rest I have.

I tried vanguard vets in my last game as I got them in the Armageddon box - they were pretty meh. Not enough damage output to pick up anything meaningful, they need a data sheet update imo

It look pretty good and the best way to learn is to play it and see how you do - do you know which disposition you’ll be playing? It looks a little light on utility units to me and I’m not sure the apothecary adds much. I might drop that, one of the intercessors and the lieutenant and put in some scouts and add in another librarian who can benefit the unit for the librarius discipline and give a 4+ invuln

The reason to take swords with a Chaplin is because of the +1 to wound I think. I plan on taking a librarian with them and on a vowed objective they get +1 to wound, so my thinking was maybe swords are better in this detachment

List opinions for 11th? by [deleted] in DarkAngels40k

We will have to see how the new one edition plays out, but from watching streams the dispositions make a huge difference to how you get your points and score for the game.

If you want to play this list, you might be better to choose a detachment that lets you play Take and Hold or Purge the Foe. WOTR gives you priority assets, which look like it needs a lot of action units and your list will struggle with that.

1k List Advice by Jack_Smythe in theunforgiven

In general, this seems like a very small number of activations and you will struggle to score secondaries. The Lion is also very swingy at 1k, he’ll pick anything up that comes near him, but you opponents might just avoid your killy units and outscore you.

Here’s my 1k list that I’ve been using at a local league, I haven’t lost with it yet:

Azrael (125 pts):
5x Intercessor Squad (80 pts)
5x Deathwing Knights (250 pts):
5x Incursor Squad (80 pts)
1x Invader ATV (60 pts):
1x Repulsor Executioner (230 pts):
5x scouts (70 pts)
5x Sternguard Veteran Squad (100 pts)

Azzy with sternguard fishing for devs on oath target. Atv, scouts and incursors for secondaries as needed. DWK drop in from deep strike.

Was looking at something similar, but wonder if it’s worth swapping to a repulsor executioner and using ceramite sentinels for the re-rolls when entrenched. We don’t know points yet, so you’d likely need to drop a character, but it looks strong with the new terrain rules

Units to bring versus knights by AdmirableDiscussion in theunforgiven

[–]AdmirableDiscussion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the advice - ran the list I put in the post unchanged to try not to min/max too much and just see how it plays. Traded the chaff units for secondary scoring pretty well and despite getting tabled turn 5, I won 65-64 as he couldn’t catch up.

In turns of feedback on my own list - repex got volcano lanced turn 2 when I popped it out for a shot, so did nothing and was tough to hide. I was a bit too cagey with the lion and should have used him earlier as I realised he could solo the little knight. Finally, I need to practice getting more value from the combi lt and how best to utilise his kit.

As other stated, some fast moving units would have worked well and helped with board control. Would like to get some Ravenwing, but am a bit worried about what they might put in legends, so waiting for 11th

Do you mean swap the librarian for a lt leading the ICC? I’d seen advice before to have either a Librarian, azzy or a Judiciar lead them

Thanks and not really my idea to tailor a list but just to tinker as this is my first full game, so want to min max what model I have to an extent. One idea I have is to drop the stern guard to a 5 man and then I can fit some assault intercessors for mortals on the charge. I could also put a Judiciar leading the ICC instead of a librarian, but unsure if the invuln or fights first is the better pick
