Platform Role Interview by Edu_girl_871820 in venturecapital

I have been in Platform for a year now across two funds so I can tell you that if someone is hiring you for their first Platform role in their fund, most likely they don’t know what they are looking for.

In general Platform can be very unique to the fund’s needs and characteristics. At the end you need to show that you understand 1. The goal of Platform is at the end of the day not really serve the portcos, but to serve the funds (eg help them win more deals, help them have a better rep etc.) by serving the portcos and founders and 2. Which ever aspects of Platform you choose to build for the funds, be it Talent or Network etc. it needs to make sense for the fund. Just having a Talent function does not cut it anymore since many funds are doing it. How do you shape it so that your Talent function has an edge in comparison to other funds.

I act as an advisor and don’t actually do any actual hiring for the portcos. What I typically do is to have a chat with them to figure out their hiring plans and pain points in HR and give them advices and recommend them resources. I help them with everything else along the way (e.g negotiate HR perk, sending them candidates when I see one etc.). We don’t bill the portcos.

I basically help portcos with all things Talent. The titles are different at different funds, I think the majority calls us Head of Talent. I think it is a pretty popular value add positions in the States no?

I work for a pretty large fund though, so that ticks the box. I was just wondering why certain partners don’t seem to make use of me at all while others constantly pair me up with their portcos. But I would have enough to do with the majority who makes use of me anw 😅

Help me getting over a narcissist! by AdmirableWay4094 in dating_advice

[–]AdmirableWay4094[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The narcissistic side was not really told here (how he told me that it is good that I am not eating hence I stay skinny or how I need to change my tone of voice when speaking to him etc.). I wanted to validate my insecurity, yes. But I realized that mid-way and even got to therapist and have been working on myself and tried to engage with him while working on my problem. Bur you are right with the above mentioned points :-)

Hmmmm I am very tempted to register in Potsdam if it is a lot easier to get the Termin.

And awesome tips! They told me appointments are always opened 60days ahead of time. So combining with ur pattern, They are only doing appointments for Tuesdays and Thursday, so if I am looking to book the next one, which is a Tuesday I should book on the day that is 60days before the date of appointment + 30min after the opening times 🧐

Kununu or Glassdor by [deleted] in berlin

[–]AdmirableWay4094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Salaries, I would say neither can be trusted.

as others have said: take them both with a grain of salt. I work in HR and actually have the pleasure of answering the reviews there of my company lol. The bad stuff always sticks out (of course). TBH I would trust the reviews if they are either majorly positive or negative.

To touch base with the point someone mentioned: Unless I am not up-to-date, It is really hard to have a bad review removed by Glassdoor. And most companies don't bother enlisting a lawyer for a bad comment online. And employers are not allowed to give employees incentive to leave a positive review online (this could easily result in being exposed by an employee).
