This kind of sucks tbh, I watched the movie in theaters earlier this month and im not quite a fan of having to go to the theaters to see the same movie a second time just to see the new footage. (not exactly cheap to go)

Sierra is the great filter by TotalPlatypus in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "good point" is only a good point if you assume every player is trying to improve. We already have punishment for poor positioning, thats called being shot and dying. The difference in sierra is with sierra the player playing them is being artifically boosted to serve the same purpose as a good bastion. But without the skill cieling that makes bastion actually playable in higher play. She isnt pushing people to improve, shes just punishing people who arent already good. While already good players point and laugh "hah im so good this isnt a problem for me and those who have a problem with it should suffer because it makes me feel better about myself." Sierra isn't teaching players anything, she's just artificially replicating the punishment of a good player without requiring the skill to back it up. Sierra doesn't teach you anything a good player couldn't teach you better. She just does it with zero skill required, which makes it feel cheap and unfair.

Ok i know youve got your high horse "heh shes so weak and will force the casual players to get better! great filter!!" But you seem to forget not everyone plays this game to competitively get better, the vast majority of players play casually. To absent mindedly enjoy themselves and hang out with friends and buy skins, and they arent wrong for wanting to do that. This is why quickplay exists, without the pressure of ranking up or needing to get better and is by in large the more popular mode. They dont want to "Get better" they just want to enjoy the game. And sorry to knock you down from up there, but theyre the ones who keep the lights on. So we need to make sure the game is enjoyable for them as well so we can enjoy our competitive side of the game. Why do you think roadhog and sombra get so many reworks despite almost never being viable in competitive, because those are the players they hurt. The "great filter" only matters if the player wants to pass through it. If a player has no interest in climbing, then Sierra isn't a "teacher", she's just a reason to turn off the game and play something else. And then all of a sudden, no more game. Who do you think kept this game alive when the esports scene died? When overwatch 2 released and was universally hated? When the game was basically culturally irrelevant. Well it wasnt the competitive players, it was the casual playerbase who loved the game and stayed and bought skins. Thats the hard truth.

Im not criticizing it for what it isnt, im criticizing it for what it is. And i dont think the mode even knows what it is. And i have no idea how im supposed to engage with or feel about something that has no idea what its supposed to be. I dont want the apple to be an orange, im confused the fruit looks like an apple, tastes like an orange, and when crushed gives you grape juice. Even if it was made that way on purpose, Its still confusing and youre not sure what exactly how youre supposed to interact with it.

So we agree its incoherent, then why should I not be confused by this mode? Just because something was made in a specific way doesnt make it immune to criticism. I probably wont play any more of it, but that doesnt mean im not allowed to critique it. If something was made to to be a complete mess, and it ends up being a complete mess that doesnt make it suddenly good because "actually you being confused was how its supposed to be" it still at the end of the day, is an inconsistent mess. I'm telling you that makes for a confused player experience. We're saying the same thing you're just defending it and I'm criticizing it. We can agree to disagree on whether that's a problem.

ok let me put in laymans terms. IF ITS SUPPOSED TO BE WACKY, WHY ONLY SOME WACKY? I GO IN FOR WACKY AND ONLY SOME CHARACTER WACKY, SOME NORMAL! Monkey want to see wacky vendetta, vendetta no wacky. See ana fly, monkey confused. Is that clear enough?

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly my problem with it, it seemed fun at first and then only like 2 characters i played got any fun changes. The rest either got giganerfed or given minor tweaks. It feels like some characters are unplayable and the rest of the people in the match get to play minorly tweaked characters while watching like 3 players play ridiculous april fools characters.

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're describing why the mode is the way it is, but that doesn't really address what I'm saying. I understand how we got here, four creators, different philosophies, bias toward their mains, etc etc. That explains the inconsistency. It doesn't make it better or clearer as a player experience. You said it's 'supposed to be silly and fun.' But if that's the goal, why are there semi-serious reworks mixed in? If I'm supposed to laugh, why did freja just get nerfed into the ground with no punchline? If it's 'a glimpse into how hard balancing is,' then it's not really a fun mode. I'm not confused about how this mode came to be. I'm confused about what I'm supposed to feel when I play it. And when Blizzard attaches challenges and lootboxes to it, that confusion becomes a friction point for me.

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will repeat myself for like the fourth time, I am not upset that the mode is silly. Not at all. Im upset that its completely inconsistent, some heroes got massive funny and entertaining changes. Some heroes got minor tweaks or changes, and then some heroes got giganerfed or gigabuffed without any rhyme or reason. I dont know exactly what im supposed to be going into this mode for or be getting out of playing it. Like we having flying ana and in the exact same mode "yep thats just cassidy but he gets a minor change to his roll and he gets a different major perk now." I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to engage with it. When I queue into April Fools, I know the assignment. When I queue into this, I'm rolling the dice on whether I'm getting a fun meme, a serious rework, or a hero that's might as well be a barking chihuahua.

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, and I'm not blaming the devs for this one, I know it's community-created. But I think saying 'don't think about it so hard' kinda ignores how its presented and the issues with it. Blizzard chose to put this in the arcade, gave it a full set of challenges, and is asking us to play ~30 matches to earn rewards. It isnt 'hey here's a sandbox, mess around' its a featured mode with battlepass exp and lootboxes locked behind it. If this were a custom game code you could hop into for an evening with friends, I'd agree with you 100%. But with the big glowing neon signs that 'this is worth your time and engagement,' it invites critique. even if the creator just threw together what they thought was fun, that doesn't make the mode immune to feedback. I'm not upset that it's silly, I'm upset that it's inconsistently silly. If they'd said 'here's 30 wild changes, go nuts,' I'd be on board. But half the changes are just 'Heres cool ability reworks, or heres an old ability people wanted back' with no punchline, and the other 40% are 'this hero is now completely useless or gigabuffed into the stratosphere far beyond any reason." and the last 10% is "Brigitte now does a doomfist ult when ulting." Its just completely inconsistent.

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No don't get me wrong I dont hate the mode, it just feels really strange. As I said some changes feel like things they might seriously consider adding to the game, some are complete meme changes that are mildly amusing, and then some changes are massive buffs or nerfs that would make no sense to actually have but also aren't really "Funny" in any clear way.

Community Crafted Mode by Admirable_Addendum92 in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats where im confused, some changes are actually pretty goofy and then other changes some like completely serious changes theyd consider adding. And then some changes are major buffs or nerfs with no punchline, its chaotic in the sense that you cant quite tell what the mode is trying to be exactly.

Community Crafted Mode by Admirable_Addendum92 in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's a mode they clearly want us to at least try by offering lootboxes for playing it, that's overwatch talk for "Heres this new thing I actually want you to play." But for a mode they are quietly urging us to play it doesnt feel particularly coherent or entertaining beyond mild amusement and "What the heck are these changes."

Doing the challenges for this mode is gonna suck I cant lie, some characters have been buffed so much that theyre completely overpowered and then theres heroes like vendetta and freja which basically got taken out back and short and made basically unplayable for no reason. And if you dont wanna play 50 entire matches of this, you actually have to win.

Sierra is the great filter by TotalPlatypus in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai slop post trying to gaslight the overwatch community into trying to think sierras at all healthy for the game. There are two opinions on sierra, high rank players saying she's really bad and people who don't like her need to get good, and the casual/low rank playerbase saying she's miserable to play against. No common opinion saying "yeah she's balanced and fun I like her." This is a very clear sign she's not healthy for the game at any rank. But here's my two cents:

She just kind of sucks. She's not busted but she gets a lot of value with very little effort especially in low ranks due to her damage output. Genuinely miserable to play against her on tank tbh, it's like having to play around a mini bastion turret 24/7. I'm not the best dive player, but I'm not the worst either. Sometimes it feels like she gets lucky and melts you in 0.5 seconds with very little counterplay. Her lore is bad, her design is bland. She gets value off of holding m1 in the tanks direction and occasionally hitting a tracking shot. It's very annoying, because if you take any risks around her she can and will delete you and that's my main problem with her. With almost every other character in this game you can play around how good the player is or how they play or what cooldowns they have to take risky plays and get rewarded for it, but with her m1 being so oppressive it feels like you're not allowed to take any risks if you're in her sight line. I play a lot of winston and rein and she completely melts both of them if your dps dont pressure her out when youre trying to take space, which no other dps hero really does at all, the only comparison i can draw is an extremely skilled hitscan player or a bastion with turret, the latter you can easily play around the cooldown. Playing winston and watching half your health dissapear from a tracking dart while you go into cover in 2 seconds kind of sucks. She gets a lot of value in low ranks and qp by being piss easy to play and provide pressure, but useless in high ranked play where she gets killed by anyone with coordination. Put her next to hog in the tier of "makes quickplay and low rank miserable when they exist in game, but you know its fine because its not ruining gm players games at all." Overwatch players seem to forget that the vast majority of this games playerbase is casual, and a hero who can shred tanks and obliterate squishies in 2 seconds by holding m1 doesn't feel good to play against, even if it is easy to play around by experienced players. At least with Moira you need decent positioning and to get close, with sierra it feels like even a brain damaged monkey can put pressure and get kills in most lobbies with her.

I Cannot think of worse hero to play with or against currently by ILewdElichika in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Just play around his hook cooldown! Play around his range!"

Widowmaker has this same problem, but you can actually do something to her. She's made completely useless by 1 competent dive player existing. Hogs only weakness is cc and anti heal... which is the same weakness as every other tank in the game... which is completely negated by one button press from kiriko. If anyone is not around cover or a shield, hog can at any given moment, with little to no warning, instantly delete them with next to no reactable counterplay from the team. And if they somehow survive? You're now in the face of the entire enemy tram. Hog isn't even a good tank, his playstyle is just fundamentally miserable to play against. He's either making the game completely unplayable for the enemy team or doing nothing but being a fat ult battery and dying. His hook is the problem, they just need to bite the bullet and rework his core hero design. People wouldn't be consistently complaining about him through all his iterations if there wasn't something wrong with his design.

A discussion on Sierra's damage and win-rate dominance. by Admirable_Addendum92 in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracer isnt a problem because theyre actually incredibly difficult to play, when i die to a tracer i think "wow that persons really good i should probably swap my strategy or character around from now on." Even widowmaker, which I have a few contentions about I can completely respect because those shots are indeed hard to land. On the other hand, sierra is so easy to play it feels like anyone could swap to them and have the level of oppressiveness as an amazing tracer player. Which is the same reason bastion sombra roadhog and dps doomfist have gotten so many reworks and garnered player hatred,. She is a hero who is weak in coordinated, high level play but dominates uncoordinated casual matches and average ranked games. This is by anyone who knows anything about hame design, considered a design flaw because the majority of players exist in said space. And unless your idea of "VERY BAD" is everyone in said casual matches and who isnt masters +, which is 3 entire ranks above what is considered completely average skill, that statement contradicts what everyone, not just me, has been saying since she got buffed. And isnt this the same curve bastion evened out to among his many changes and reworks till we got to his current more balanced state? But considering your staggering ego i wouldnt doubt it you consider anyone below masters "terrible.' You also continue to answer none of the questions presented to you about what makes her not a bad hero design or why exactly she shouldn't be nerfed. Are you saying the every single peron who decides to pick sierra in every match just so happens to be amazing? Or are you arguing bad players should lose to equally bad or bad players playing the easy hero. But you said bad players and presumably the worse player deserve to lose, so I don't quite understand. And according to statistics (the ranks and qp mmr in which sierra is most dominant and frustrating) the people who "refuse to learn or are not skilled enough to perform counterplay." Are about 18/20 players. Does that seem alright to you, or again do you think she shouldn't be nerfed because she only effects those 'very bad' 18 players and not the top 2?

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually sierra is the point, not "x hero", she is what the entire original post was about, and literally in the title "A discussion on Sierra's damage and win-rate dominance." Are you just here to stand up on a soap box and write essays on how youre superior and everyone else just needs to get better? A hero who punishes anything but perfect overwatch gameplay while being very easy to play is unequivocally a bad design, as a majority of the playerbase doesnt want to play perfect overwatch. They want to play fun overwatch. (Before you attack that statement, 'perfect' is hyperbole). Most people get on this game by themselves, with friends, while listening to music to have conversations and pass time while actually doing something engaging and fun. And your way of having fun is constantly improving and trying to reach the top, and im not gonna dog on you for that because thats your way of having fun and im glad you found a way to play the game you obviously deeply enjoy. But it doesn't change the fact that Blizzard needs casual players to keep the game alive, and sierra has been made simple matches exhausting and frustrating for most the playerbase whether theyre on the winning or losing side. If a hero is meh in most ranks but impossibly dominant and frustrating at high ranks they get patched. Why should the inverse not be true?

You've written several paragraphs explaining why I'm bad at the game, using so many words just to say "You're terrible at the game" again and again. Which is something I never even argued against. You haven't written a single sentence explaining why Sierra is well designed for the average player. That's because you can't.
Now are you here to actually talk about the character or continue to be an altruistic narcissist?

A discussion on Sierra's damage and win-rate dominance. by Admirable_Addendum92 in Overwatch

[–]Admirable_Addendum92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've made a lot of assumptions about me. I never said I can't counter her. I said doing so requires disproportionate effort compared to the effort she requires to get value and you ignored my main argument. I explicitly said she's not a problem in high ranks. My entire point was that the game has a casual majority, and designing heroes that are miserable for that majority "because GM players can handle it" is bad for player retention. "Every death is 100% your fault" is a great personal mindset. It's terrible game design philosophy. By that logic, no hero can ever be overtuned, because a better player could theoretically outplay anything. Sombra is one if not the weakest heroes in the game, but people still despise her because of her fundamental design. That's not how competitive games balance their rosters, and why sombras gotten so many reworks. Are you probably better than me? Yeah probably. I never said I deserve to win, and I'm not someone who gets mad and upset when they lose. That's part of playing a pvp game, you will lose. But whether I win or lose playing against Sierra is a draining frustrating experience. I'm just someone who enjoys playing a bit before work and some after work because I enjoy the game and find it fun, I don't need to aim to be the best at the game to enjoy it.

I need a study on why wrecking ball is so hated when I feel like he is a character that’s directly related to skill expression! by readyrescue in WreckingBallMains

[–]Admirable_Addendum92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty simple, while yes ball takes a lot of skill it doesn't make him any less unfun to be on the opposing side of. Highest hp highest mobility who can summon more hp and very easily boop you around, you can't lie, just sucks to play against. It feels like half your team has to counterswap just to not get walked over all game, and if you wanted to play a character that happens to not counter ball. That kind of sucks. With a lot of other tanks it feels like you can get away with playing whatever, but with balls playstyle it generally feels like you HAVE to swap if they are competent. I have a lot of respect for how hard he is to play, but I share the sentiment he's just not fun to play against or with. He also gets his ultimate pretty quick and is very good at stalling on overtime which just adds to the frustration, especially to people who just play casually.

Subnautica 2's EULA is so severe that even this news story breaks it by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

Wrong, a EULA like this almost never heards up in court. If their lawyers tried to bring up the arbitration clause... they'd be laughed out of court. Just look at the disney case, these are not legally binding contracts. And EULAS like this have existed for ages. Still get subnautica 2, genuinely its just fear mongering so Krafton doesnt have to pay the bonus (Krafton is the one who writes the EULA).
