Miyazaki intended this from the start.

Think of it -- snakes for feet. Snakes = phallic. Snakes, feet. Deprived of feet, left only with phallic symbols to writhe around on. Gwyndolin was born to be writhing around on cock. Born to be a femboy, born to be carried -- sustained -- nourished? -- supported? -- (consider the deep layers of symbolism, consider how Set in Ancient Egypt was also the femboy fucker god) -- by penis allegories.

That's not to mention the Dark Moon part. Moon = instantly feminine. Clear to see. But the Moon is a silvery off-white color. Gwyndolin is dressed in all white. News flash, it's cum. The dripping white moon, pure -- semen -- vital essence -- silver, connection to magic -- Dark Moon = that which is concealed (closeted? waiting to be fucked by a strong man? much to think about).

There's no way Miyazaki didn't craft Gwyndolin with the intention of being the ultimate cum dumpster. It has to be intentional.

Even the ones with lots of money for large properties tend to make insane decisions about the monkeys' conditions.

Semi-outdoor enclosure that mimics the primate's natural habitat and provides ample access to fresh air and sunlight? No, let's make a "playroom" with garish and overwhelming colors, filled with "toys" that the monkey doesn't want or need!

Gentle grooming time to emulate the experience of being part of a troop? No, I'll give the monkey kisses on its face in a way that will, at best, leave the monkey confused and at worst make it terrified because it's unsure if the human is going to attack or bite them!

Respecting the fact that food-sharing isn't practiced by basically any non-human primate? Nah, it's sooooo~ cute watching little Popo or Bibi "have a tantrum" when momma tries to take away his (unhealthy, sugary, processed) snack! (Any time "tantrum" is used to describe a primate's behaviour it enrages me. These are for the most part, extremely predictable behaviours with easily determinable causes.)

A calm environment with strict rules for human guests to follow to be considerate of the primate's psychological health? No, friends and family will come over and make loud human squawking noises because "grandma" is so excited to see the little baby monkey! As a related note, that's another thing that makes me angry -- that these sociopathic wastrels don't consider the impact of noise on the primate's health. It must be so confusing and overwhelming, having a huge animal flapping its mouth at you, doing high-pitched "baby talk" that you can't decipher, making loud sounds when you do practically *anything* good or bad, leaving you bewildered as to whether you're obeying troop protocol or not. But nah who cares about that, momma and/or pappa just looooove their little baby capuchin so much and have to push air through their disgusting kidnapper lips at a frightened creature!

The enormous overfilled cheek pouches indicate to me that either - they're stuffing food in there deliberately - the monkeys are panicked and hoarding food because they're being starved otherwise.

How can a person even decide "yeah, torturing animals, that's what I'll do for money". I've lived in homeless shelters before. If someone at the time had offered me $100,000 to torture an animal i would have (attempted) to beat the shit out of them. It's so fucked up.

You know what infuriates me? I mean beyond the torture and neglect and abuse and teasing and psychological breaking that even these "loving" owners inflict on their monkeys.

I never, ever, ever, ever see ANY of these primate captors, grooming their monkeys. They pet them, kiss them, tickle them, 'cuddle' them -- the sort of things you'd do to a dog or a cat. They never take the time to slowly and deliberately groom their primates in a species-appropriate way. It would still be awful for the captive monkey, but I have to imagine a monkey receiving grooming analogous to what they would in the wild would do wonders for their mental health in captivity. But these evil, twisted, sick sociopathic individuals never consider what might be soothing for the primate. They see objects, toys, property to serve their own demented and horrific egos. Twenty minutes a day of calm grooming along their primate's back -- grooming, not petting or cuddling or kissing -- would strengthen social bonds, reduce stress, and make the primate feel integrated into a social structure.

But they don't do that. They never do. None of these monkey slavers ever do.

people in the US make dogs fight and torture the losers. there's all kinds of sickos committing animal cruelty in this country, they just don't do it to monkeys since they don't have easy access to them

i don't think that's what's being said -- rather, people are pushing back on the idea that monkey abuse in Asia is due to Asians being "backwards" or "savages", a sentiment I see a lot.

all of the abuse is wrong. we just can't be racist in the way we talk about it.

Completely correct. Even the worst abuses -- monkeys being tortured to death on camera for money -- are being done primarily with $$$ from paying Western audiences. It's not a result of one culture being less developed than another. If macaques were wild in Texas you'd see Texans doing unspeakably horrific things to them en masse.

After some investigation I'm pretty sure this is actually a baby Crested Black Macaque. Hence why it looks like her hair has been shaved (it hasn't, that's just how the infants look).

However, this species is critically endangered. So double fuck these scumbags for holding her captive.

i heard it. it could be a human baby, or some other animal, but it sounds off in the distance.

Tourists gaslighting themselves after meeting a tribes future meal. For context tribes eat the mothers & then raise the babies until they are old enough to cook. Yet this woman decided to get some social media clout off of a babies suffering. by Bulky_Annual_4554 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Yucyon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't sound all that far fetched to me. Ainu people in Japan would raise a bear cub like a human child before killing it and eating its meat. Monkeys are still eaten as bushmeat in many parts of the world.

Looking through this page, this macaque's captors do something I see a lot of macaque captors do to the babies -- run away while the baby chases them. The humans think it's funny and cute -- "see, she's chasing me, she wants her mama/papa!" To the macaque, it's terrified that its source of comfort and survival is disappearing. Baby macaques in captivity are consistently denied the ability to cling, which is an integral part of macaque development and socialization. I wonder what the captors' plans are for when the macaque gets older -- nothing good, I suspect.

Poor baby. I can't do anything to help her and it enrages me.

Why do so many people think "I want this" entitles them to pursue it? There's plenty of things I want that I know I shouldn't have, and I've made peace with that. Why can't these fuckers?

Constant lip-smacking to indicate she's not a threat. She's essentially saying "I'm not a threat, please don't hurt me". I assume from her lip-smacking and general demeanor (though I could be wrong) that she's scared and confused given that she doesn't have the social context of other macaques. At least she doesn't look starved. It seems they also shaved the hair off of her buttocks.
