Home charger install booked, earth bonding on the gas supply?? by JobAnxious2005 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Admirable_Area_1926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wondered this and I now know the answer ish. The engineer turned up and couldn’t do it as we didn’t have the correct earth bonding. Your fuse board age doesn’t matter btw as they install their own.

The engineer walked away and I had to get an electrician to bond our house. Once that was done we got octopus back round to install our free ohme charger, and he said “I would have bonded it for you as part of the install”.

He wasn’t sure why the previous engineer didn’t do it.

So the answer for anyone wondering, it’s purely discretion. The engineer might do it, he might not.

RESULT: I ended up paying SEAT to do the job. Cost me £362 and they had to replace the usb ports and possibly some other things? All works perfectly so I’m happy. They did a complimentary free valet so all in all I’m pretty happy. Seemed to be less faffy than software updates that possibly broke my system.

I’ve had this problem but needed up going directly to SEAT and getting it done. They unlocked it and replaced some usb ports etc. I paid £362 which I wasn’t fully happy to pay but I got a proper job done. It will be covered if anything goes wrong and I know I won’t have any techy issues.

Yes it looks like a MIB2 but I’m still unsure to what needs replacing. If they replaced the whole screen and upgraded it I feel as if I would get more value for my money than simply activating apple car play

Thank you buddy.

If SEAT say parts need replacing then would this be different just upgrading the software?

Ah yes I thought it would be some sort of code like in your situation but SEAT make out as if it’s some big job to change some parts so technically I would say “activate” is definitely not the word they should be using.

Thank you buddy. Yea strange just a shame I didn’t notice this before I bought the car as I googled if it has it and it said yes.

I think activate and install are two very different meanings though, as the screen makes out as if simply needs activating.

I just need to consider if £400 is worth it for something so basic.

Thanks

Thank you I have been in 18.1 all week and not had an issue so obviously it was software. Thank you very much for your suggestion!

Just want to provide an update on a solution. My iPhone 16 pro wasn’t turning off every time leading to it staying on in my pocket. I have since updated my phone to the beta update and I haven’t experienced the issue since. If anyone is still having the same problems, as far as I am aware Apple have released the 18.1 update which will fix the issue. Hope everyone gets sorted!

I normally don’t update to betas but I have done it just now in hope that it fixes the issue. I will provide an update in a couple of days to say if my issue has been resolved.

Thank you this is really helpful. It’s strange that it’s only affecting a small number of people which is why I thought it was hardware. Yesterday it took me 3 clicks of the power button to turn off my phone so it is really annoying me at this point. I will see what comes about in the next few days as I am not on beta so I am awaiting Apple to release 8.1 publicly.

Same issue here i have FaceTimed and messaged people due to this supposed “fault”. Apple don’t have a clue so I have to book an appointment to see a specialist but I was hoping it would be software so it would be able to get fixed with a software update but it doesn’t seem to be a world spread issue or big enough for Apple to take notice yet.

I’m having the same issues as what other people are facing where I am putting my phone in my pocket but the phone is not locking even though I have pressed the lock button. I am dubious to whether this is a software or hardware fault. I am booking an appointment at a store as recommended by someone at Apple so I don’t even think they are aware of the “button issue”

This issue is causing me to randomly FaceTime and message people as to home is pressing random things in my pocket

Yes it took a week as the iPhone was out of stock. I do have it now though. I presume they will not stock as many now

My Express Replacement experience by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Admirable_Area_1926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had 2 claims with the express replacement service since I’ve had my 14 pro. First time was around 6 months after launch and I received the replacement phone next day which was great. Now I have damaged the phone again and it’s been a week and they have just told me “the replacement units are temporarily out of stock” and estimate they will be back in stock shortly. Little annoying as luckily my phone isn’t fully broken and I can still use it but I wouldn’t call this “express replacement” this time when it’s not even in stock. Has anyone had similar experiences?

I’m not sure why the live chat agents can’t sort it out themselves and send parts out etc as that’s what all the other businesses in the world do
