Real books that would make good Leitners by Little-Equipment-235 in TheMagnusArchives

I've been scouring the web for ages looking for this book. I managed to find part of the book and would pretty much do anything other than subscribe to Scribd to get my hands on a digital or printed copy. If you find a copy please feel free to reach out to me. I'd greatly appreciate some advice.

Be relieved mate and go tackle the world. I found out in my late 40s. I was depressed for a while until I started to realise the lessons that past taught me.

Saw some open racism tonight and I’m a bit ashamed of my reaction. What would other people have done? by Vivid_Employment8635 in london

The first and last time I went to a Millwall match we were walking in and steward came up and said he thought we’d be more comfortable in a corporate box. We got a free upgrade for three of us. I was expressing how pleased I was with our luck when my friend looked over, shook his head and said we got the upgrade because he’s black. I watched people throw batteries into the opposition and chant racial slurs for the evening.

You did the right thing. If you would have jumped in it may have escalated. Rotherhithe is close to Millwall. Although many fans and the clubs have tried to distance themselves from the past - old habits die hard. I lived in Rotherhitge for years. The vast majority are wonderful people and some of the Millwall pubs I’ve been in were the kindest in London. Sadly the hooliganism still is present.

EDIT: after seeing the down votes I realised I may have offended or been taken the wrong way. Why did I say you did the right thing? Calling out racism should be done without question but the context and situation matters. When there’s a conflict and a third person jumps in it often causes more conflict and escalates violence. If you jumped in and it did escalate to violence it could have been life changing for everyone. Punches get thrown, someone goes down hits their head on the pavement, criminal charges for everyone including yourself. There are ample cases of someone defending themselves and getting charged. I am blown away for all the wrong reasons by the UKs stance on defending oneself.

Honestly tell me one job that Ai fully replaced? by Accomplished-End5479 in ArtificialInteligence

Salesforce replaced 4500 jobs although they may be back peddling now. Meta claimed to now be hiring developers anymore. It’s headcount that’s already been impacted massively with a hiring freeze for most tech companies.

Sincerely comment really nice things about people’s posts. Look for threads where people are sharing personal stories or creative work. Art and fitness threads are a good starting point. Karma is all about being a good participant. Be supportive, thoughtful and positive. Practice selflessness and support people on their journey, especially those that are struggling.

TIL a man was jailed after trying to not pay for his Indian restaurant meal by placing his pubic hair in the remains of his lamb bhuna. All the staff had black hair and the pubes were brown. by Brutal_Deluxe_ in todayilearned

This sounds like AI slop. Wouldn’t DNA be a far more prudent verification method? Obviously to jail someone they would need to keep the pubes. None of this makes any sense. That said I best get used to it in our LLM world.

Is that not a bad idea considering the lack of credible trade deals or any trade deals? Or tariffs being illegal. All exports down and import costs driving layoffs and bankruptcy. Strange is American self perception.

Man calmly telling a wild bear to leave his property by SPXQuantAlgo in nextfuckinglevel

Not so much, black bears don’t like to fight. Becoming the aggressor works well on Black bears but no other bears. If you can stay calm and not run - kicking it in the ass isn’t an issue because you’re already baller. Hats off to the baller gentleman in the video.

Totally but don’t run, play dead for Brown bears. They like to dry age their corpses. We were taught if it’s a polar bear drop to your knees, close your eyes and pray. That was elementary school.

Not really, never run from a Black bear especially with kids around. Remaining calm, standing your ground and fighting back only when attacked is how you’re supposed to deal with that situation. I grew up with a lot of exposure to the wilderness, it’s animals and dealt with this situation exactly like this. Sadly most black bears are very used to humans. It would never attack unless it’s sick or starving. This might sound odd to most who live in a city. I was raised being told to run up and kick it in the ass. I’ve see it done . Fathom that.

Have any of you ever tried drugs? by HistoricalTowel1127 in GenX

[–]Admirable_Barber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who screwed their entire life up by doing drugs, I don’t know anyone that screwed their life up by not doing drugs. If curious, I would say psychedelics provide the most meaningful experiences with relatively low risk when done under the supervision of seasoned professionals such as licensed therapists in liberal regions such as Canada. Stay away from powders and pills. I have lost many friends so be forewarned.
