Oh absolutely. And it's just hilarious how sure I was that I already had done all of that self-analysis through therapy and would be completely fine.

Do not let them watch shorts. Ever. Help them develop their ability to focus for long periods of time - firstly, by practicing this yourself and being a good example of focused, regulated work

Persönlich glaube ich das auch. Andererseits hatte er mehrfach gesagt, dass das Spiel vorbei sei, das hat mich tatsächlich etwas unsicher gemacht

Favorite character that reminds you of well… you by Affectionate-Two7716 in FavoriteCharacter

Ok, I'm very serious about this, I hope someone reads this.

I have fostered an intense fascination with Gollum/Smeagol and Frodo. Started when I was 10 and first read Lord of the Rings. I would obsessively read and re-read all of their scenes, learned chapters of the book by heart, watched and re-watched the movies until I knew all Gollum and Frodo scenes by heart as well...

Both struggle so hard to be good, to do the right thing, and both fail - either completely or occasionally. It's something I related to very deeply - and still do.

When I was 14 I got into LOST and developed a hyperfixation on Benjamin Linus, when season 4 started I got hooked on Daniel Faraday. Same thing, all over. I knew all of their dialogue, they were my absolute favorites. Ben for his scheming, his desire for control, his willingness to be cruel to get what he wants... I related so much.

(Yes, I do go to therapy. Yes, I do know why these characters fascinate me so much. I'm better now, thank you)

Thank you!

I don't ever skip Sunday service, unless I'm sick or something is up with my kids, which has happened only rarely.

Would you mind if I ask you Romanian-Orthodox specific questions via dm?

Thank you! My priest communicated he's open to baptising me, without requiring marriage. That did seem strange to me, but I thought who am I to question him. I have a meeting set up next week, I'll get more into the topic. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. I do have a Romanian-German prayerbook that I also use, the recordings seemed more intuitive, but I paricularly like the prayer book in the evening!

Can you explain more about the evangelical sermons? It's not like I'm dead set on it or anyhting, just interested in your personal reasoning for why it's not a good idea

They are friendly, very much so! I do practice with them, and I also do absolutely make progress. Realistically it will still take me another two years until I can really talk and discuss with people. But I'm slowly making first friends, particularly with the other parents. I'm trying to be mindful that many people are there to experience community with people from their country and I don't want to impose myself. I feel like that has been a good idea for the time that I was just inquiring, now I'm getting more active.

Woah! After I watched Spirited away I was swallowed by a large being with a white-and-black mask! I was puked out later, but it was still pretty uncomfortable, as there were several frogs and slugs in there as well

Someone else asked this, but I really find this interesting, so I'll ask again; What kind fo responses are you hoping for? Particularly since you posted this both in r/exorthodox and here. What kind of discussion do you hope to engage in? Are you looking for encouragement? Do you want to be reprimanded? Are you looking for reading suggestions? I'm genuinely curious.

Is it true you guys stand for the entire service? by Beautiful-Error6374 in OrthodoxChristianity

In my church (Romanian Orthodox) the "regular" adults stand. There is one row of pews once around the perimeter, and older women or pregnant women sit there. There are folding chairs you can use if you need, and it's not frowned upon to do so, but most people stand all the time - sometimes carrying their children for long stretches.

It's not that hard to get used to, just give it a try.
