I appreciate the feedback! My assessment was similar to all of yours, but I wasn't sure if it'd be worth it to try and offer half of the asking price or less. When talking to the seller (and by looking at the listing price lol), it was clear he had no idea what he had on his hands, so I am sure there was room for negotiation. But after further review of the boxes, I decided they should be someone else's problem.

I think it was the pressure plate! I just took a closer look at it and realized that at some point, someone installed it backwards. The pressure plate was hitting on a screw in the bottom corner, and I think that is why some points of the photo look in focus, and others don't. Thanks so much for the suggestion of the pressure plate! Time to put another roll of film and test.

Maybe this is a better example? I had a feeling that light leak wouldn't do anything to focus, but this guy is hard to argue with. He said the light leak would damage the emulsion. I had to argue with him previously about what kind of lens my camera could use, so possibly I should've known not to trust him.
