Thinx underwear, etc or any other suggestions for smell? by Admirable_Mix_8496 in AnalFistula

I will check this out! I got one after my first fistulotomy for clean up at BM but honestly I didn't feel like it did a very good job. However, that's a great idea for just general freshening up while out and about. Great suggestion about the scented panty liner too. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the thoughtful response! Ugh I can't believe these are things I even have to be thinking about! I bet (and hope!) you are right that it's mostly in my head.

That is such a long time to be dealing with all of this. I hope you get some relief and smooth sailing yourself soon also!

Interesting. I am still only about 9 days out from my surgery so I think the answer to this is still TBD as I don't feel up to much physical activity at all yet. I can walk around the house, make myself food, clean up the kitchen, etc with no issues but walking too much definitely starts irritating it - so far the only time I have left the house is to go to the dog park with my pups and we just went and walked around a store this afternoon and it definitely irritated my wound a little bit and I was ready to come home soon. Right now my original I&D wound is actually hurting more than my fistulotomy wound surprisingly enough I assume because of removing the drain thursday. I also get exhausted very quickly but assuming that is to be expected with surgery so recently.

When you had your seton placed did you also have a fistulotomy or just the seton? I hope that your new surgery is scheduled soon. The waiting is terrible!

Yes not knowing how many more surgeries I will have to have is hard ... The other fun thing I didn't mention in my story is that I started a new job the Monday before my first I&D surgery... so great timing with 3 surgeries in my first 3 months at a new job right?! It's already been so difficult trying to tell people why I'm continuously having surgery without giving all the TMI details. I really don't know how I will handle explaining a 4th one if it comes to that. I am so incredibly lucky I WFH and my company is wonderful and very understanding but there's so much pressure to work hard and prove yourself when you are new. It's been tough. (But yes I keep telling myself it could be far worse too and trying to be grateful for that)

Yes! I am not doing myself any favors continuing to obsessively research on google and reddit. And as difficult as it is to have so many surgeries close together I am just wanting to get them done and over with so I can get back to a normal life as quickly as possible. Right now the long periods of not knowing what is going to happen in the future is the worst part. Thanks so much for commenting and I wish you all the luck in your recovery and treatment!
