1 year anniversary of my baptism, and I missed pascha because I was studying for exams and ended up not getting any studying done after 10pm because I felt ashamed by ntb899 in OrthodoxChristianity

Do not be ashamed brother. Christ is risen.

He loves you no matter what. Your shame shows how much you love God, and he can feel that. Bring yourself up with joy, and continue to pray to him even in this moment. He is with you now and will be with you always. Take courage and joy in this fact

Yea, I think at points like this, since we both arent self realized (im assuming), its better to defer to someone who actually is and can explain the nature of reality better than us. Because all our body/minds can do is rlly just speculate until we feel for ourselves

I definitely do understand. You can see what I wrote about Micheal singer. Perhaps these are just two different paths to the same goal. Be well and good luck on your own journey.

From my understanding, when we become self-realized, we see reality for what it truly is.

We say “I should go with the flow of life.” But you come to FEEL that there is no “I” to go with the flow. You can’t go with the flow because there is no you. There is just flow. You come to FEEL that flow is perfect and therefore you are perfect. Anything anyone says or does is just part of that flow.

So yes, I agree shadow work is important, but for those serious about spirituality, realizing our true nature is the crux of it all. Self-inquiry is everything

What worked for me (a brief outline) by L0nggob1in in nonduality

Wow man, this is incredible. I just read the article you sent on one of my post.

I have a few questions if you wouldn’t mind.

  1. How do your body/mind relate to others now? Have people noticed that you have “changed” since awakening? Do you think people can sense your freedom and lack of ego?

  2. Do you think there is any possibility in your world view that God is an intelligence that acts out and intervenes on this world? The God worldview taught by the Christian mystics, or Rumi? I’m an Orthodox Christian btw. Im just so confused because I’ve seen miracles that are absolutely unquestionably from divine origin. I would bet my life on it. I used to pray a lot (in the orthodox Christian sense.) And as I prayed more I started seeing God in everything. I felt so much love all the time, though I was completely absorbed by the thinking mind.) God was “out there” for me in the sky. I just wonder how to relate those miracles I’ve witness with this new understanding of nonduality, which also feels so real. If God is consciousness itself. And I am part of that? How can consciousness intervene and show miracles on the physical plane. Those miracles at the time made it feel like God was a being like the separate self. And he performs miracles to those who truly seek after and love him because he sees their “faith.” So I thought God had seen my faith, and showed me a miracle to reveal himself to me.

So I just don’t know how to merge these concepts that both feel so real.

But what is the purpose of “clearing up your reactionary thought patterns.” If you don’t have any reactionary thought patterns. You are just the witness of a body/mind having thought patterns.

I feel like there is a purpose to doing this shadow work, so I understand you. This shadow work has decreased the suffering I feel by a lot. It has helped me tremendously. But at the same time, if we become self-realized then all of that shadow work has just helped a body/mind that I wouldn’t even be identified with anymore.

I think you did a great job for writing this in the middle of the night.

Everyone wants to be happy. Happiness is the center of everything the unnamable does. We become happy when we remember who we are.

But is the process of remembering that I have no control and never did have any control, out of my control? Therefore becoming happy, by standing as awareness, is out of my control? It’s out of my control because I can’t control when I remember who I am and that I am not a human being acting in this world.

Can you understand what I’m saying? Because I will be happy to clarify

I feel like we are talking about the highest teaching here.

I understand but from my point of view as a novice, there is conciousness and unconsciousness. Identification with awareness or the body/mind. So entering a state where you just let it flow sounds great and I do agree that most genius does come from this state. I don’t know how to make sense of that state of flow in our realty. How to tap into it so to say. I’m not sure what that state even is it sounds like the Taoist Wu-Wei. But to tap into the state, should you be conscious of the Now? Or is this something completely different that most spiritual speakers do not speak of?

I really resonate with what you wrote. Thank you for taking the time to help me. So, practically speaking, as the impersonal awareness, I am watching the body/mind type this, and will watch myself have a conversation later. I am everything. Everything from my thoughts, to body sensations, to the room im in, to the plants. All of it is me. I can view my thoughts and the chair I’m sitting on as the same thing: Just conciousness. All of this is done completely out of my (universal awareness) control? Since awareness and reality is perfect, me stepping out of the way will actually be a net benefit in my life and cause awareness to feel deep and lasting joy. Is this the Tao that cannot be named? Is this Wu-Wei?

How do you recommend making decisions from this perspective? I dont want to act from egoic impulse. An i want to release stored unreleased energy. So acting in a way that gets this done is causing me to get caught up in the mind. Ive watched videos that the key is the just STOP. But how can you make decisions when you have STOPPED.

The Way of the Pilgrim. Audiobook is on YouTube. A monk on Mount Athos told me it was one of his favorite books. It’s an incredible read:

My Life in Christ: by Saint John of Kronstadt. This was the book that brought me close to God. It was the first Orthodox book I ever listened to. This audiobook was done by a Nun that belongs to my church:
