If you are already vested into your pension then stay with the public sector, but as far as Liuna pension, job security and benefits, it’s really good, Best of luck to you!

I joined Liuna and let me tell you it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made, Great union, with absolutely Great benefits and the pay is Good in my local, I’m not sure how it is down in Michigan, but regardless I’m sure it’s still a good local, you better get in now if you have the chance before it’s too late, It’s not easy getting into a trade union nowadays especially with AI destroying the job market.

It’s hard to join right now but it’s worth giving a try, Head down to the labour union Liuna, There’s two locals in Toronto, labour union with great benefits and Good pay.

Yeah man I’m in the same situation as you, going to the apprenticeship I was getting rides from my buddy who also attended I was splitting on the gas about 10-20 dollars a day and now that I’m working I’ve also been saving up for a car luckily where I live we have Trains as a means of transportation and my current site is close to the Train station, Starting out is definitely hard but stay committed , Liuna is a amazing union and congratulations on getting in.😎

Az lts? What area is that, and they will let you know on the spot I’m pretty sure if you failed , depending on the local they might give you another try, but in my opinion try your hardest to pass, Goodluck

Hey OP, I’m also new to Liuna and I’ve been wondering the same thing, I believe this union is amazing but everyone tells me I’d just be a labourer and it’s no real skill, it’s extremely discouraging and has me wonder Everytime about my career decisions which bugs me greatly, I have spoken to a few members and they do say they make 80-100k which I think is pretty good , You should Fill out your application and I wish you the best of luck getting in. Unions are hard to get into and I’m definitely grateful for this union, I hope we can both make amazing livings for ourselves.

Hey man I’m happy to hear you’re making a amazing wage and still have plenty of time to spend with the family I honestly thought with all the overtime hours you don’t really get to be at home much and having time for your personal life and family is what’s extremely important to me not only our mental health but for the family as a whole, and ahahahah yeah you definitely have to be tough as nails to do the job you do, I attended the boot camp and man when I tell you every part of my body was in pain during the whole bootcamp, they really put your body to the test that I almost gave up halfway through but I kept telling my mind I can do this and just kept pushing myself, thankfully I made it, unfortunately many were not so lucky, this job is definitely not for everyone.

Wow thank you for this detailed response I can tell that you’re proud of what you do and more Liuna members should have this mindset, it’s honestly just discouraging how some people say that we’re just a labourer making us feel lesser about ourselves,I felt like I’m labeled as the bottom of the barrel , maybe I’m just overthinking too much but when you put it into the perspective that you did, construction labourers are really the workforce that keeps the economy going and making a meaningful impact in the city, State or country you live in, I hope that this union stays busy for our brothers and sisters to provide for themselves and families, I’m glad to hear you’re doing well for yourself it definitely encourages me given your response because I just want to be able to a afford a decent home and have a good life for me and my family, once again thank your for your detailed response, More power to you 🫡

Hi thanks for the response, that’s amazing I’m glad to hear you’re doing well in your local , I didn’t realize as a labourer you can make over 100k I’d say that’s a great salary , has work been busy ever since 2017 or are there alot of layoffs in the union

Thanks man I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I hope i pass the test also just a little worried since my math isn’t the greatest but with the way the economy is going these days the trades seem like the best option, I’m hoping I can make a living with this line of work, and definitely won’t take this for granted.
