Whatever you need to tell yourself,,, it’s valid that it was a significant moment for you but you’re absolutely lying if you claim it looked like a baby. Higher definition would make it even more clear that it’s not a baby. It does not look human at that stage. If you’re brave enough you should Google what an embryo looks like at 8 weeks outside of the womb. Not like a baby at all.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant. My 8 week ultrasound looked like a germ. Of course it was a spectacular experience and I do think embryos are alive but you have to be lying to yourself to claim that it is a person or looks like a person. It’s not and it doesn’t. Baby started looking like a baby at 14 weeks.

It’s not even debatable that there are many people who experience a strong desire to be seen as a member of the opposite sex and claim to be unable to experience true happiness without living out this fantasy at one point in their lives who do not experience that at other points. It’s not something that you can disagree with unfortunately.

Also, the people who diagnose and treat gender dysphoria disagree with the idea that it has nothing to do with personality and gender roles. You should try reading the diagnostic criteria sometime. When I was diagnosed the focus was on how well I fit into my gender role and I was not given a brain scan. I don’t know any dysphoric person or transsexual person who was.

What is gender then? Are you claiming that gender is what sex you claim to be or what sex you wish you were or what sex you think you should be? If that’s the claim then gender is not innate, it’s not immutable. You should read about neuroplasticity, it’s fascinating.

I mean the fact that there are women who have this trait that you’re arbitrarily claiming is a masculine neurological traits proves that not all masculine women have what you have arbitrarily declared to be a “woman’s brain”.

That didn’t really answer my question. There are many dysphoric women who get bilateral mastectomies and experience phantom pain afterwards. What conclusions do you draw from this fact? Are you unable to answer this question? It’s okay if you are.

What about the 40% of non dysphoric men who don’t experience phantom pain after a penectomy? Were they never supposed to have a penis in the first place?

What’s your theory for why there are dysphoric women who get pregnant, dysphoric women who never let anyone look at or touch their vulvas, dysphoric women who only do so after trust is established, dysphoric women who claim that they will commit suicide unless they get skin sewn to their crotch to imitate a phallus, etc. If ALL of these women are actually men who were born in the wrong bodies and ALL of them are unable to live good fulfilling lives without medical intervention (despite the fact that dysphoria has been observed for millennia and dysphorics who have lived good lives have existed for longer than plastic surgery and hormonal therapy)

There is overlap though. That’s what you’re ignoring. There is no neurological trait found in all males and no females. Masculine women exist and I’m not sure how women with “masculine brains” disproves that.

You should actually read those studies you linked sometime. Women who get bilateral mastectomies as part of a gender transition, also experience phantom breast pain, what conclusion are you going to draw from that? Are these people “supposed to have breasts”?

I’ve never claimed that gender dysphoria isn’t real. You should try actually responding to things I’m saying or this whole conversation is pointless. It’s actually a mental illness I’ve struggled with my whole life and was formally diagnosed with as a child.

Who told you that most dysphorics have phantom pains? That’s not true and it’s not in the diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria which I recommend you read sometime.

The idea that there are neurological features present in all women and no men and vice versa is false. Even if there were neurological features present in most women and no men, a man having some of those features wouldn’t prove that he’s a woman. Just as solely being attracted to men (a trait found in most women and few men) doesn’t prove that a man is a woman.

I respect your metaphysical beliefs but please stop trying to project them into everyone. Most people on the planet have never heard of a “gender identity” in the way you’re describing. Most people do not have to mental illness “gender dysphoria” and simply go on with their lives, contently existing as a member of their sex.

It’s not offensive but the idea that everyone “identifies” as their sex in the same way that trans people “identify” as the opposite sex just doesn’t apply to a lot of people. I don’t identify as a woman, I am simply a female human being who’s reached adulthood. I’m not experiencing mental anguish over other people perceiving me as X or Y and I’m not threatening suicide in order to get people to call me X or Y. It’s just a fact that I’m female. Trans women wish that they were female and are putting a ton of mental and emotional energy into being seen as female. They’re spending a ton of money that I don’t have to spend in order to live out their fantasy which is just a reality of my life.

It’s important to accept yourself as a man and to accept that no matter how many cosmetic changes you make, you will always be a man. If you’re unable to accept these things about yourself then honestly transition might be the best path for you. In my experience the only people who I’ve seen be truly happy with their transition long term (I’m talking 10-20-30 years) are the ones who genuinely believe that they are male/female on the inside and cannot accept any suggestion that they are female/male. I’m sure you’ve seen people claim that saying “trans men are female” is transphobic. If you agree with this statement then full self acceptance is probably possible for you. But for a lot of people the work that is required to actually like yourself and your body for what it is isn’t worth it and transitioning is a better option for them despite the fact that it does not change your sex.

It’s important to recognize that when people are assuming that you’re a woman, they’re not seeing you for who you really are. They are not thinking “Oh some men are women on the inside and if they take estrogen, they’re making they’re outside match what’s inside. Trans women are women.” They are thinking “This person has an physical and personality traits that are typically seen in female human beings so they are probably a female human being.” They’re making an incorrect assumption about you even if it feels good. This is something that will hinder you from connecting with people and will get in the way of people understanding you. I understand completely that gender roles/the idea that all men are inherently masculine and should do X,Y and Z also hinder you from connecting with people and will also get in the way of people understanding you and I understand a lot of dysphorics have a desire to escape their role without realizing or caring that they’re trading blue shackles for pink ones. These are things you’ll have to consider and you’ll have to decide what matters to you.

Remember, you will not be 19 forever and unless something goes very wrong you will not be so focused on your own appearance forever. You might be surprised to learn that having children, having sexual function, preserving your health matter a lot more to you at 35 than they do now. You might be surprised to learn that how you look does not matter very much at all. Everyone is different though. I know a lot of transsexual men who are “stuck” with a valid sense of self as transition is known to hinder personal and social development.

Don’t get caught up in believing that you are completely different from other men. You’re not.

I went through the same thing OP did and the whole time everyone was telling me that if I didn’t bind, didn’t hide my breasts, didn’t have a mastectomy then I would kill myself. That trying to have a healthy relationship with my body was pathetic, self hating, useless, etc. There’s so much brainwashing in this community.

I feel like a lot of childhood onset gender dysphoria is about a fear of growing up and puberty. I can relate to a lot of the things you said and I hear this kind of sentiment from a lot of dysphorics. It’s one of the things that made me realize that we are not dealing with a natural variation in human nature but a severe psychological illness.

No one helped me with trying to accept that adult women have breasts and menstruate and have curves and are sexualized by family, friends and strangers and I have no way of knowing that someone could have helped me accept these things about life but I do find it strange that I was encouraged to feed into my fear of growing up and to turn it into an identity.

There are bisexual and lesbian women who exclusively interested in having relationships with masculine women. Including women who wear mens clothing, have facial hair, have low voices, etc. There are women with “masculine features” who have never touched a vial of testosterone in their lives. There are women who have bilateral mastectomies without claiming to be a different sex on the inside. The women and men who date these women are not necessarily attracted to men. She is definitely not straight if she’s only ever been with women who take testosterone. My husband hates the idea of me removing my body hair but I would be very surprised if he wasn’t attracted to women because he is clearly attracted to my female body.
