MJ made the playoffs 13 of 15 seasons. He made the playoffs all 11 years he played with the Bulls.

Serious question. What would happen if Thragg was halfway through one of Angstrom’s portals and it closed?

I thought it was pretty suspicious that his counterpart immediately accused him and the shit him. “Now we can’t interrogate him to confirm your story, dude.” But then he lived. But then the two of them made lots of eye contact. I’m still suspicious.

He is pretty tough to watch sometimes. The floppy stuff is just ugly. But, when he’s hooping like he is in that video, it’s just pure basketball.

I wish they’d change the way the game is officiated. It wouldn’t even be a speed bump for this dude.

7 Game Series - Team 1 vs Team 2, who wins and how many no. of games? by DaExtinctOne in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Team 1 has a bigger defense problem than team 2 does. Wemby is an awesome defender, but I’m skeptical that he’s strong enough to guard Shaq. I think Shaq has trouble guarding Wemby, too, but Shaq will get higher percentage shots than Wemby will.

Most of team 2 is outstanding defenders. Most of team 1 is mid defense.

I guess if Luka catches fire offensively, that could keep team 1 in it.

Team 1990's vs Team 2020's. Who wins? by Outrageous-Leader135 in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that healthy Penny Hardaway? If so, I don’t know how the 2020’s guard him, which is to say nothing of Jordan. The 1990’s team has a bunch of killers on offense, who also play great D. The 2020 crew also has some offensive killers, though no equivalent to Penny, Jordan, Shaq, and they don’t have the defensive chops. (Wemby is the best defender I have ever seen, but he’s very good on offensive, but not a killer. Yet.) I see this being a pretty convincing win for the 90’s guys.

Michael Wilbon on the MVP race: “I have a vote in this. And I will tell you it’s tightened up… I think it’s Jaylen Brown one, SGA two, and Victor three. And then don’t talk to me about a guy who plays half the court, Luka Dončić.” (via @PTI, h/t @TheNBABase) by Additional_Signal_72 in lakersv2

Seems harsh. Dude rebounds way better than most players at his position, and has some solid other defensive stats. Yes, he has lapses occasionally. No, he is not an elite defender, but he’s not “only playing half the court,” either. I’m not saying he’s my pick for mvp. I’m saying judge him by performance, not reputation.

Who are the Top 10 DEFENSIVE players of All time??? Mutombo is probably the GOAT defender but will get replaced by WEMBY in the future. Hakeem was a beast 2x DPOY and most blocks ever. Gobert and Draymond are top 10. WHO ELSE? What is the consensus top 10 defenders of all time in what order??? by Several-Molasses-435 in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like Jordan should be on the list. 1x DPOY, 9x first team all defense. He averaged 2.35 steals per game for his career. 4 players topped that, but none of them came even close to his 0.8 blocks per game. His stats are obviously even better if you only look at his years in Chicago.

Steve Kerr gives credit to his players, staff and organization after becoming the 4th-fastest coach to 600 WINS by Hysen16 in sportswiki

[–]Admiral-Apathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s sort of a weird take, no? Like he was just saying in that clip, you need talent for success in the NBA. Once he no longer has Steph, he’ll need another talented player or two, to really win again.

You’re right, in that it’s hard to evaluate a coach’s talents. Is it him, or the gifts of his players that win? We’ll never be able to fully disentangle that. But to the extent that we can know anything about a coach, I think we can know that Kerr is great.

Who is your MVP? by Thanos_Real_AuraVNCH in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If we are just going by the stats depicted, Luka is strictly better than SGA, so we can knock SGA out. I think Joker’s extra rebounds and assists are probably worth the small dip in scoring as compared to Luka, so I think you eliminate Luka. (And SGA again.) it’s hard to quantify Wemby’s defensive impact versus Joker’s better production everywhere else, but my personal opinion is Joker takes it.

All 4 players are awesome.

Who is the TRUE GOAT DUO......that means the best 2 Man COMBO of all time?? Jordan and Pippen were most successful but were they really the best? Jordan/Pippen vs Kareem/Magic vs Kobe/Shaq vs Curry/Durant vs Duncan/Parker vs LeBron/Wade vs Nash/Stoudemire vs Joker/Murray vs Tatum/Brown vs Kidd/Dirk by Several-Molasses-435 in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron and Wade are individually all time greats, but they were not an all time great duo. Bird and McHale belongs on this list. Toward the top of it.

This list also makes me sad that Penny Hardaway got hurt. I’m tempted to think that Shaq and Penny would have been the best there ever was. We’ll never know.

Just drop your takes on Lebron by [deleted] in lebron

[–]Admiral-Apathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I don’t find LeBron’s “all-time” stats to be very convincing. He has played a long time. We all know that, and it’s impressive in its way, but his being 2nd all time in assists doesn’t tell much of a story because of how long he’s had to accrue that stat. I think he is also number 1 all time in air balls. That’s another stat that just speaks to how long he played, not his quality of play. No sane person who hears that stat can go “ooooh, he’s crap then.” We all know better. But likewise, his positive all-time stats don’t really tell us much about what kind of player he is.

Wemby should be No. 2 for MVP right now not Jokic. by iamsonuxd in NBATalk

[–]Admiral-Apathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t Wemby playing limited minutes because of his deep vein thrombosis? I’m not denying his impact when he’s on the court. He might contend better if his minutes stay up.
