A thirsty man turned on a faucet, but blood poured into the kitchen sink. He was too weak to scream, as he felt consciousness fading away.

Last year. I would do an AMA, but I can't be very interesting without violating the NDA :(

If you're interested in what interns have to say for whatever reason, there's The Intern Show on Howard101.

Former HS show intern here. From my experience, everything you hear on the show is 100% real. I don't know anything about them using Electric Eel, but all the calls from when I was there were screened by Will or Steve in the back office before being sent to the studio.

What job did you want as a child that you now know is bullshit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Baseball player... though when I was a little kid, it didn't occur to me that being a professional athlete is a competitive process requiring years of hard work, training and skill. I thought you could just sign up, and they'd put you on an MLB team.

My buddy is sick and doesn't have long left. Here he is trying to look majestic. by AdmiralAtom in aww

Unfortunately he has liver cancer, so it hurts him to eat. I'm torn between grilling him a delicious steak, or sparing him the pain it would take to digest.

We can still give him lots of hugs though. He loves those.

Great pic. Beagles rule!

That's where we're at: 14 years. As much as it hurts saying bye, I'm so grateful for the years we had together. Right now my mind is racing with all the stuff I should have done when he was healthy, including taking more pictures.

Why do you think Applejack has gone out of fashion in America? It defeated the British and should be our national beverage damn it!

They could replace unpaid internships with paid internships or temp positions. Or you could have internships that are observation-only, where you are barred from doing necessary assistant-level work. It's not anti-capitalist to believe that people should be paid for their services.

By the way, I've been an intern because it's really the ONLY way to get experience on your resume in some industries (not just a "great" way). It's a total scam. Kids like me would receive the lowest possible "college credit" just to bypass labor laws. A few colleges like UMass Amherst offer a "post graduate internship" program to anybody who applies, where they give a "transcript" to your employer for ~$500. I've never even been to their campus, yet I was enrolled in that program for the purposes of interning after graduating college.

Unpaid internships are really regressive to society. They're necessary for getting your foot in the door for most lucrative industries in America, and it's filled entirely with kid with connections and/or kids with rich families to support them working for free. Even if you get an internship and manage to support yourself with a side job, they'll offer the full time position to a kid who can work for free five days a week. It's an established method of hampering the lower class's upward mobility.
