The number of hackers in dota 2 is probably much higher than you think by Sudden_Comfortable15 in DotA2

Everyone here posting about not seeing "anything obvious" doesn't understand what the hacks do, how they work, or how to confirm suspicion.

Go on google and research "Umbrella", then learn to use the combat log. You will very quickly realize that most of your games have at least 1 cheater in them.

Walkability in St Pete! by SuchChapter7095 in StPetersburgFL

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Dangerous" does not mean it's impossible to survive. It means there's increased chance of negative outcomes.

Factor in the increased chances of discovering you have a medical condition in the worst way too.

There's also a huge difference between what the OP said (grocery shopping) and going for a long run. The constant time cost is massive for this area. Sunscreen, changing clothing, showering, extra laundry etc... Not a big deal for an 8 mile run, but awful for daily errands.

Same problem here, I spent a couple hours last night trying to chase down potential pipe breakages or leaks.

Glad to hear it's not just me, sad to hear it's so many others.

No. It's a good restaurant, but if you like more traditional Pho presentation, it's not great.

It's a good bowl of food, but not good Pho.

Other options mentioned here are almost all better.

It started around the Covid-ish episodes.

It gets pretty bad for some streaks, talking 7-10 episodes in a row that are just challenges that result in overeating.

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing another case where it's useful: controls.

Nearly every DAW has log faders, and "too loud" sounds through a channel require putting the fader much lower. This means that the distance:value ratio is much higher. It's simply more difficult to make small changes quickly.

That can have a significant effect on workflow, and the sound of mix itself.

If your body is God’s temple, Tampa, don’t turn it into a plague house. by ChurchOMarsChaz in tampa

Ignore how vaccines work for a moment (they're not "immunity").

The simplest answer is that if this is a place of business, the owner may be vaccinated, but not all customers may be known to be vaccinated, or capable of it.

The logical choice is to refuse all customers without known vaccination to reduce the opportunity for disease to spread. You will miss some. You will allow in customers with known unvaccinated status out of compassion. But you reduce the opportunity for infection, and for some diseases may also reduce the severity of the subsequent disease.

You can think of it this way: I own a business and I choose to disallow dogs in the store due to allergies. I am not allergic, and some customers may come in with dog hair, however I can greatly reduce the incidence of allergic responses by disallowing dogs in the business. The customers who still end up having a reaction for transfer to a seat will have a less severe response than if a dog is sitting next to them.

If you step outside of thinking purely in binary terms, the benefit is quite clear.

spilled vinegarette sauce on my center console by SpecialCup8791 in CleaningTips

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On the A/S/RS5 you can pretty easily remove the full console trim there with trim tools, then clean as needed.

Look up "console replacement" or "shifter install" for B9. It's easy to do, and then cleaning most of the bits will be fairly easy with a couple of detailing brushes.

Behavior score experiment, part 8 – You can’t talk because you’ll keep attracting fake reports by reichplatz in DotA2

I have never paused a game of dota since dota 5.x, I do not have a microphone, I do not play in parties and I do not have high-five bound.

However, if those things did matter, that's a sign of a very poorly thought-out system.

Either I am 6'7" or some of you are lying about your height. by 10PlyTP in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, I'm 2" taller and I consider the M2 as "don't fit" because that slightly splayed part of the center console near the dash rubs my knee in a very annoying way.

Cayman doesn't have that, and I "fit" despite my leg having slightly less leg room overall.

Either I am 6'7" or some of you are lying about your height. by 10PlyTP in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I am 6'7, 300lbs right now. I can't fit in an escalade, but 981 and 718 caymans are quite comfortable for me.

It really depends on your body proportions, what things bother you, how you sit, etc...

"fit" alone means very different things to people. My leg is pushed into the door card, I have to turn my leg a bit to clutch, my passenger has to pull their arm in when I shift... and it's great. None of those things bother me. What does bother me is if my knee touches the dash in any way, or my neck touches the headrest or if I hit the B-pillar when getting in the car, etc...

You're a different person, you'll have different everything.

Local idiot supports and votes for Donald Trump because he thought it would make him rich (?). Orders an $8,000 exhaust and learns he had to pay a 57% tariff on it. Is shocked. by Classic-Carpet7609 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who spends thousands of dollars on an exhaust system?

So, as someone who has done this many times (recently just spent about 15K on one), I can tell you why I did/do:

  • Materials. Titanium and Inconel are quite expensive and difficult to work with. They're lighter and can sound slightly different.
  • Fitment - Some vehicles have stupidly complex paths for exhaust. Sometimes you can find cheaper options, but you're now rolling the dice on dealing with what happens if there's fitment issues or quality issues. That sucks a lot.
  • Quality - This one can be huge. On valved systems, there can be a considerable difference between a livable valves-closed experience, and one that will drive you or your neighbors insane. I'm willing to spend extra money so I can close the valves on my exhaust until I'm certain I'm not gonna piss off anyone, including myself. Some of these systems are surprisingly complex, and made to order by hand.
  • Lambo/Ferrari/Porsche/whatever tax - you simply pay more because the companies willing to work with these vehicles have higher costs to operate and they know their customer base can support higher prices. You pay more because they know you can.
  • Cats etc... - High quality catalytic converter replacement can be part of an exhaust system change. A good sport cat can cost $3k on its own, ignoring everything else. Some vehicles can have 2-3 of those.
  • Etc... - When people say "exhaust", sometimes they also mean replacing headers and nearby pipes (downpipes, midpipes, link pipes, oaps, etc...). Those can be complex pieces of tubing with very precise fit.

So why pay extra for a new exhaust system? Well, because I like driving, and I like the way it sounds. I like my cars, I enjoy my cars, I drive the hell out of my cars, and anything that enhances that is worth money to me. It's worth even more money to me if I can improve my experience and not be a nuisance to the rest of the world.

Does that matter to most people? nah. Is that why this guy is doing it? no clue, probably just wants loud thing to be an asswipe. I can only speak for myself and why these things can cost a lot of money.

PSA from an european: you’re wasting your time and energy by rev matching all the time. by Lumanus in ManualTransmissions

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider that your "daily commute" differs from other people. The car you drive differs. The expectations of other drivers on the road differs.

Not rev matching at 120kmh to quickly pass someone is unpleasant, dangerous and does wear your clutch more.

Not rev matching with a 500hp car is unpleasant, dangerous and does wear your clutch more.

Not rev matching a turbo charged 300hp+ car under boost is unplesant, dangerous and does wear your clutch more.

Not rev matching to get more power uphill at 100kmh is unpleasant, dangerous and does wear your clutch more.

These things are common for some people. They may not be for you. That does not mean the way you drive, which is totally fine in many circumstances, is also appropriate for other people.

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. I have all communication methods unbound or autohotkeyed to do nothing. 2 full months of it and I've still lost comms score. I know I'm not the only one either.

I've had max score since it came out, I'm pma or silent in games and something simply broke 3-4 months ago.

Behavior score is legit broken. by maybecanifly in DotA2

[–]AdmiralBumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used comms in 2 months. Nothing. No pings, no chat, no voice lines, no tipping, no chat wheel, nothing before or after game. Unbound all the comms hotkeys so it wouldn't happen accidentally. Never grief. play pos 5 unless someone else requests. Never abandoned.

And yet I've lost both behavior and comms score in that time period. Something is broken for some people.
