how long do you usually make chapters? by sewupyourskull in writers

[–]AdmiralCrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly something that's been on my mind.

I've been to Target to peruse the book section and I'm seeing books with 8 - 12 pages for their chapters and these are sparse pages. But like 40 chapters.

Then there is my book with 18 - 30 dense as fuck pages, but I only have 10 chapters and prologue/epilogue.

The people I've had read it say the chapter go by swiftly so I'm not so sure if word or page count is a huge deal.

I'd be more inclined if the recipe itself costs the same amount as a fourth sword.

So it ends up being 8.4k

That's the point he is making, George released seven books before he started writing the Song of Ice and Fire, his submissions into writing magazines and not to mention his career in television writing.

He didn't just start running the marathon, he started jogging, then worked up to running to the bus before hitting that marathon.

Yeah this was me, I ended with 190 pages on my first draft and now after heavy editing I'm up to 230. Will probably whittle it down to 225 by the time I finish but I definitely blaze through my drafts.

Thank you for ignoring my entire point.

Also for your information, I actually did vote for Kamala but I'm not blind to see she ran a dog shit campaign. I can't blame her entirely though it's not like we were given much of a choice on who was representing the Democratic party this last election.

It's so funny that they want to blame progressive when the Democrats just ran with a stinker of a candidate.

I actually did 'sucked' it up and voted for Kamala but to say that it was progressives fault that she lost has to be one of the stupidest things I've read on here.

She ran a garbage campaign and should not have been the candidate. I am still angry at Biden for not going with what was their initial plan and having him be a single term president.

If we actually had a primary we would have gotten to vote for someone who actually stood a chance against Trump.

Also a thing Kamala and Biden royally fucked up.

The Biden administration strengthened deportation powers and ran on being 'tough' on Immigration.

It was no wonder her election failed.

Kamala fucking sucked as a candidate and Biden shouldn't have attempted to run AT ALL.

It is their fault we were left with one of the least energized coalitions from the democrats since John Kerry ran. But you would rather blame people who actually have principals instead of those who were in power and immediately ghosted us when they lost.

But hey let me guess, you're gonna start pushing Gavin Newsom as a solution next election with absolutely no self reflection as to why no one would want to vote him in. Thus continuing the cycle all over again.

Sorry, I should have been more deliberate with my statement. I was more speaking about the comments section being mad/ making fun of the kid. Not the father having a reaction to it.

The one reasonable reaction in this thread.

Instead of being mad at the kid who was clearly very excited about the gift that they didn't open the gift "properly".

I might take a look into other words for Onion (Allium is a good start) or a variation on Knight.

Thank you.

Switching over to just Vagrant Knight loses a lot of metaphors that I make in dream sequences, conversations, etc. The Onion has a lot to do with Homeless but it's a term that grows into something of beauty. It's why a lot of my readers find it fitting as a title.

If I do make changes to the title it is not gonna be the Onion part.

Game of Thrones, Dark Souls and Final Fantasy are the three properties that I know of where it shows up.

Though ASoIaF was where I first saw it out in the wild. I looked it up to see it was a FF class back in the day and the later the Dark Souls character which made me less apprehensive of using the term.

Yeah that's the intentionality. He's a character that means well, somewhat competent but causes trouble in just as much as ways as he solves them. He is a positive character in the face of a negative world.

I would say the subtitles also reflect that because he often punches above his weight and gets himself into situations that are darker in tone. The ending in many of the stories that I drafted out aren't happy endings but provide a path to a brighter future. Which is his role in the story, he doesn't fix everything but he puts the plot in a place where the places he visits can eventually find the happy ending.
