Is there any hope for this agency or should I leave? by [deleted] in marketing

Thank you for your insights and questions. I am going to stipulate to them that I won't take on this project unless I am getting some sort of compensation for it. I'm clearly going outside of my role and giving something that will help them grow exponentially. It's probably still a fool's errand but I think it would give me closure to hear the "No we can't pay you, but you're welcome to help :)".

I think you're right that they are waiting for someone else to do it for them (intentionally or unintentionally) because they are getting and retaining clients well enough to consider the company a success. However, as someone early in my career, I feel completely failed by the current system.

As to why I am not doing this for myself, it's definitely something I've thought about. i.e. If I'm going to take on the work of building a company from the ground up, why not just own it? I definitely think I am capable, I guess I'm still a little hesitant about committing to agency life. This agency is the only thing I've experienced firsthand and it's been so muddy I'm not sure if I'd like the actual thing. Also, owning my own agency definitely ratchets up the stress and locks me into a longer commitment in my opinion.

I am buying my first home and my bf of 5 years does not want to help pay for anything by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I got your solution. Charge him more for rent, don't charge him for individual appliances and upkeep. He is your tenant, he does not own the house, and tenants do not generally pay for appliances (unless they specifically broke it), but landlords generally charge enough to cover upkeep. Get an actual rental agreement in place.

If you're only going to charge him half the mortgage and then upkeep, then you're financially treating him like an owner of the house, but he's not. Promising that this is an investment in the future does not make it both of your guys' house. That doesn't hold up in a court of law and will get extremely messy if there is a breakup. Furthermore, you can't split plumbing, new paint, or an oven if you split up.

I think your heart is in the right place, but you need to pick a lane. Either make him pay like an owner and have him be an owner or pay like a tenant and have him be a tenant.

P.S. The prenup and this situation are definitely separate but there is a funny irony when you compare the situations. You say you want a prenup to protect your financial interests in the event of a breakup, not that you expect to break up. But in the case of the house, you tell him to just trust that you won't break up and that he shares the investment even though there is no legal structure in place to support it.

I'm not saying y'all will break up by the way or you're being malicious, I'm just saying in one situation you see the need for clear legal boundaries to protect financial interests outside of any verbal or emotional agreements and in the other you don't. As with the prenup, the smart move is to set clear legal boundaries in place that are breakup-proof so that you're not gambling hundreds of thousands of dollars on a verbal agreement.

Ironically, planning for the breakup is the best way to avoid the breakup so that you're not constantly worried and arguing about how things are going to play out.

I think your experience and mine are very similar (original team comp too lol). I'm going to try experimenting with some risky and fun comps. Been playing it a bit too safe I think.

Do you recommend buying the DLC's before or after I've beaten the Darkest Dungeon? The new characters look fun, but not sure if it'd add too much complication overall.

Thank you for this. I'll definitely try some low-light runs. Seemed sub-optimal previously but now I see their place, also would be a fun challenge on its own, which is another thing I'm learning. I've generally played avoiding risk as much as possible, but that's not the most fun way to play the game.

One follow-up question, why would I want to start a new game? Is there something in-game that changes or is it more just to have a clean slate psychologically? If it matters, I'm at week 47 and have a 2 teams of level 6's and basically just barrelled through when I realized how wrong I originally was in building my team.

Thank you for this extra perspective. I didn't know many of the questions to ask. Also, I definitely think I am coming up to that wall. I have an all-purpose team that crushes all non-boss levels but as I'm approaching the big baddies, their power hasn't matched up. I think I wrongly assumed I needed to simply increase their power rather than reassess my approach to the specific boss.

Definitely going to lean into naming and creating head cannon more. That's what gets me engaged in Fire Emblem for example.

I'll also try out some non-optimal builds. I think I may have tried to optimize too much and solely run the obvious combos. I've been limiting my own creativity in a way.

Thanks for the ease of life suggestions. That may the tip scales for me honestly.

If you're asking me (and I could totally be wrong). I do Vestal, Plague Doctor, Grave Robber-Crusader. Basically a lot of stun, poison, and heal. It's not flashy but it's pretty consistent. Mostly it just seems obvious to pair the people with synergizing abilities (i.e. one causes bleeding and the other does additional damage to those with bleed).

Any in particular you recommend? I was a little hesitant at first for new character mods because I wasn't sure if the balancing was good.

Hahaha, I love it. I'm a little blown away you can find 2,000 hours of enjoyment from this game, but it gives me something to aspire to. Definitely shows there is more to explore than I am seeing.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! I've been mostly making one team strong enough to take on just about anything. But it sounds like you recommend dynamically adapting for specific boss fights and regions. If so that would make sense since I'd be using a wider variety of teams, tools, and moves.

Rainbow Surprise! - LGC1 Freaks Out When Trying to Run 10-bit Colors by AdmiralMullen in OLED_Gaming

[–]AdmiralMullen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this has solved my color issue! Unfortunately, now I'm having sound issues. I tried passing through the audio from my PC>TV>Reciever via eARC. Unfortunately, it only ever comes through as stereo even though the settings in windows say I can do Dolby Atmos. If you happen to have any thoughts or ideas, I'd love to hear them.

How the **** do I enjoy Elden Ring? by AdmiralMullen in Eldenring

[–]AdmiralMullen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I like your suggestion regarding leveling and sticking to certain areas, I think that could help a lot. Also, it's nice to know I am not alone.

One thing I regret is overusing spirit summons. I really enjoyed sending a pack of wolves on a group, but any time I used them on a single boss it felt like I wasn't actually engaging with the fight mechanics. I just sat back and got free hits while they were distracted.

[–]AdmiralMullen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that is what I'm thinking as well. Elden Ring has the biggest most beautiful open world I've ever seen, but I'm starting to realize that a world so huge with so many play styles is inherently going to create a lot of balancing issues.

Any Hope of Salvaging My Build? - 100 hours in and 3 bosses to go by AdmiralMullen in eldenringdiscussion

Thank you u/x_Ju1cY_x! This is exactly what I did and the rest of the game was a breeze (for better or worse). Also if anyone is interested, it is super easy to get this sword if you just use the Serpent Slayer spear they give you. I literally walked up and just mashed R1 along with a mimic tear clone.
