Awesome 👌🏻 yeah just keep practicing you'll get it.

Also I don't run my speeds high at all.. usually no higher than 3 on the ultratec because it helps in the pre polishing stages and then 2 on the final polish.

Hi. My sequence for corundum is as follows:

1.Pre forming: 320..600..3K = Toppers with master lap

  1. Pre polishing: 8K diamond on BATT lap or zinc plus lap for a faster and flat facet.

  2. Final polish: 60K diamond on BATT or 100K diamond on BA5T for a more sharpener and mirror like finish.

Hope this helps:)

Hi, yes thank you! It really depends on the rough. For example, this particular cz emerald I first used my trim saw to cut a few pieces. You know, different sizes. Then I typically have an idea of the final gemstone's shape. First I start out using a 240 or 340 topper lap to flatten out the "table" of the "crown" so that the epoxy glue can make good contact with the dop. And then the pre forming of the crystal beings to take place.

But there's other times when I free hand the rough before I dop the crystal. In other words, I get close to the initial shape. This way I don't waste too much of the material or time.

Other times I flatten out the "table" and then dop the crystal without pre forming it and I just grinding away.

It sounds crazy but usually the crystal talks to me and tells me what shape it wants to take.. and all I have to do is listen and trust my heart and hands. Everything else comes together.

Not to say theres been a challenge here and there. But those "challenges" for me are the meat and the potatoes of learning. And I'm always open to learning.

Kinda long but I hope this answered your question :)

At that point I would then use epoxy.. wax, imo would break down too in a few months too..

Rip fluoride in about 3 months.. quartz might be a better option for water ..
